Okay dudes I know this isn’t the best advice out there but I really think we gotta start somewhere with all these male authors oversexualizing women.
My advice is just write your story with all male characters. Every one of them. Write out their backstory, write out their ideas and preferences and beliefs and motivations.. just...write them all out. Design the character know what they are going to look like...
... Now randomly spin a wheel and now a certain random assigned characters are now female. Don’t change anything about them. Now they are female.
Maybe some experiences will be:
“Hey wait, those two that I wrote a very obvious heterosexual love triangle for are still all dudes/all of the turned female!” Well great now you got gay representation too congrats.
“But I rolled and my main character is a woman!” Well yay we need more stories with main female protagonists anyways!
“But now half my story is filled with girls!” Well welcome to real life, champ.
I know this isn’t a catch all system(which doesn’t even dive into non-binary and trans) but I just really wanted to put that idea out there because I’m sick and tired of watching female characters only being the support and/or love interest for males.
So I have no idea how to write about romantic moments in my stories? I love to write but I just can't seem to write about people dating, kissing, etc. Do you have any advice how I could maybe go about that?
The best way to write romance is to READ romance. Read the things that are cringy and what not to do. Take note of the things that you really like and think work well. Read it and read it and read it some more until you feel comfortable writing a scene.
Picture it in your head. How will the characters move in their setting? Which character is more aggressive? Are they both shy? How experienced are they?
All of these qualities will come together for a good romance scene. Good luck!
I’m sorry that I haven’t gotten to writing most of your prompts! I’m working on a film and it’s taking up most of my time
João’s gotten everywhere he has on the back of being good at football, bad at self preservation and the very worst at decisions.
things i have accomplished 2day
-checked in for my flights online & got my boarding passes on my phone
-called not 1 but 3 taxi services, got one that will pick me up tomorrow
-survived all my classes, even though one was anxiety hell, one was boring as h*ck, and one gave me a headache
-got my mom to text me a list of things i’ll need to do once i get to the airport
-found an atm, got cash, strategically bought ziploc bags and cookies to break it into the smaller bills i need for the taxi fare
-had dinner with a friend i don’t normally see during the week
If you were wondering:
YES there is a nymphjohn fic (and I believe she's writing another one atm):
