"This keep," Luke declared, haughty even through August's mouth, "was my grandfather's by all rights, as were its treasures. Now, as his sole heir, they are mine." "Your Highguard Kronos," the dragon replied rather pleasantly, "was a cunt. And so is his kin." August choked so badly he caught the hiccups. Thus, the conversation was brought to a halt to allow their translator to sit down with his head in his hands and hiccup to himself in a most distraught manner. Ethan took this to mean the negotiation wasn't going as well as he had hoped.

Or: after the long-dragon Enthaan (Ethan) slayed King Kronos and laid claim to his keep, the king's heir (Luke) returns to take back what is rightfully his. The hastily appointed Royal Diplomat (August) is sent in to negotiate terms.

Somehow, several marriages are arranged instead.

"It means," Alabaster continued with a surprising amount of patience, "that anything we do, we do as acquaintances. Friends. Whatever. Purely platonic." Wolf raised his hand. "Put your hand down, Wolfgang." Wolf lowered his hand.

Or: striving for a modicum of control, Alabaster decides to write up a contract. Wolf doesn't know what that is.

Chpt. 4: A Darkened Doorstep:

The dragon stared at her for a good while. "You gave him the sword," he repeated at last, in Dragon for he did not speak magic-tongue. "The cursed blade of drake-horn. The arm of Kronos. You gave it to him." "If we want to be pedantic about it, yes. Sit down, Enthaan, you're making me nervous." [Lou Ellen] didn't look the slightest bit unnerved. If anything, her dancing eyes and cheery, bouncy curls made her seem as if she was chuckling merrily at a private little joke. Ethan sat. He waved off the offered tea impatiently with his talons. "He has the sword," he muttered again in a daze. The wizard clicked her tongue as if she were the one who was making sense and Ethan simply didn't understand. "It is far better for us that such a blade remains found. Now we know where it is at all times. Isn't that convenient?" The dragon stared some more.

Or: the dragon is unnerved.

Save Yourself, Fall Out Of Love

Wolf blinked at him. "…What? You think I dunno? You moaned his name, like–" He counted on his fingers. "Six times. Seven, 'cause y'said it twice in a row, 'n you had your eyes closed and everythin' like you were imaginin' him." Al opened his mouth to protest. "I listen, y'know," Wolf added over the top of him, slightly offended. "I do. I know you're thinkin' 'bout Ethan all the time. S'why y'want me to fuck you so much, so you stop thinkin'." More stunned silence. Al's jaw had dropped open so low it was close to hitting the mattress. His cheeks burned through an interesting array of pinks until they darkened into deep, tomato red and he snapped his mouth shut with an audible click.

Or: still very much not over the death of Ethan two years ago, Al struggles. Wolf wants a sandwich.

Alabaster expected a monster. What he got instead was about 140 pounds of bony, smelly demigod slamming into his chest with a loud whoop of pure, unadulterated joy and knocking them both flat on the ground. "Alabaster!" Wolfgang cheered from above. "Ohhh, noooooo..." came the miserable groan from underneath him.

Or: short snippets from Alabaster's exile after Ethan's death, accompanied (as always) by Wolf.
