You will receive a confirmation e-mail from the mods within a week of signing up, but feel free to start working on your story whenever you’d like!
Please make sure you review the rules before signing up :) And as always, contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Our tumblr ask box is always open, or you can email us: hpwlwbb(at)gmail(dot)com.
We can’t wait to see what you create this year! Happy writing!
Everybody’s here for a good time, so let’s try and keep it that way. We understand that rules can be tedious, but the ones we have in place are there to make sure everyone’s happy and the network can run smoothly.
GENERAL
Be kind. Don’t send hate or bully anyone. We have to deal with that stuff often enough in real life, so don’t bring it here too. If you do, we’ll have to remove you from the network.
Similarly, don’t discriminate against anyone for any reason, including, but not limited to, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, body type, blog size, etc. Anyone in violation of this rule will be removed from the network immediately.
All accepted members must have a link somewhere on their blog. We will give you one reminder before removing you from the network.
Let us know if you’re going on hiatus, so we can add you to your list. Blogs that are inactive for longer than two months without a hiatus warning, will be removed. Blogs on the hiatus list for longer than a year will have to reapply.
On a similar note, let us know if you’re changing URLs so we can keep up to date on where you’re at.
Seeing as we are a fic archive, we will only reblog fics (the specifics of which fics we reblog can be found in the WRITERS’ section). Similarly, we only archive/reblog BTS related content.
We believe in second chances so if you are removed from the network, you will be allowed to reapply again in two months. However, if you violate the rules a second time, you will be blacklisted from the network.
WRITERS
We only reblog new fics a) posted by affiliated writers and b) tagged with the official network tag #thebtsficarchive.
This includes member x reader, member x oc, and member x member fics.
Any fics that include the following will not be archived or reblogged by the network (you can write it, but we won’t touch it):
A) Works that contain sexual depictions of minors, pedophilia, incest, bestiality, rape, or vore. Additionally, works that display graphic descriptions/romanticize abuse, mental health issues, violence, or suicide will not be reblogged.
B) Any work that is found to be plagiarized. If you are found plagiarizing writing, you will be immediately removed from the network.
We will reblog one-shots, series, drabbles, and imagines, as well as, masterlists for series and teasers. We will not reblog sm!au’s, bullet point fics, masterlists of all your work or reactions.
Seeing as our goal is to archive all the fics on Tumblr, we only reblog/archive fics posted on Tumblr. Fics only posted on Wattpad, AO3, or any other website will not be reblogged.
All warnings must be stated at the beginning of the fic. Negligence to properly tag fics will result in a warning before you are removed from the network. If there are no warnings, simply write N/A. Fics without warnings will not be reblogged.
We also ask that you state the pairing and rating at the beginning of the fic. Fics that lack them will not be reblogged.
We ask that all writers have at least two (2) pieces of BTS related work over 500 words long before being accepted to the network.
If your fic is over 500 words, please put a read more cut. Nothing sucks more than having to scroll through a 10k fic on your dash. If you don’t, we won’t reblog your work. On the same note, please put all NSFW content below the cut.
Writers under the age of 18 who write NSFW content will not be allowed to join the network. Once you turn 18, feel free to sign up. Accepted minors who are found to be writing NSFW content will be removed. If we discover that you are lying about your age, we will remove and you will be allowed to reapply again when you are 18.
READERS
Readers can send in fics/authors we haven’t archived through asks. The same goes for fic feedback. If your feedback is longer than the ask character limit (500), you can submit a post. Any feedback we receive will be copy and pasted to a reblog of the fic along with who sent in the feedback.
All fic suggestions/fic feedback must contain the name of the fic and the author.
The archive will only post positive fic feedback. Any feedback that is negative or can be construed as hate will result in the reader being removed from the network.
If you aren’t 18+ don’t send in NSFW fics for us to archive or comment on NSFW fics. If you do, we will have to remove you from the network. You will be able to reapply when you are of age.
Readers are required to comment on a work at least once a month. If it feels like too much of a burden at any point, let us know and we will place you on the hiatus list. However, after two months on the list, you will have to reapply.
In order to keep track of who has sent in feedback each month, we require all asks concerning feedback to be off-anon.
CHAT
Be kind.
Be aware of people’s triggers. If someone says the safeword, "seagull”, please respect it and move to a different SFW topic. If possible, delete all offending posts. Failure to obey will result in your removal from the network.
The following topics are considered triggers and are not allowed:
Rape/non-con
Abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, mental, or otherwise)
Graphic violence
Suicide/self-harm
Comments about body size and lifestyle choices (ie. how much someone eats).
Here at the BTS Fic Archive, we follow the rule “Don’t yuck my yum”. Simply put, don’t criticize something someone else enjoys. We understand that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but there is a time and place for everything, and intense criticism can be harmful to some people. Given the nature of this net, BTS automatically falls under this rule.
There will be a NSFW and SFW chat. Members under the age of 18 will automatically be placed in the SFW chat. Everyone else will get to choose which chats they want to be a part of.
The password for readers and writers is rainbowbangtan. Thanks for taking the time to read the rules. We really appreciate it.
Please don’t post NSFW content in SFW chat. If you are unsure if something is NSFW or not, send an admin or mod a direct message. If you post something NSFW in the SFW chat, you will be given a warning and asked to delete the offending post(s). Failure to do so will result in your removal from the chat.
We kindly ask you not to role play in the network. If you wish to do so, please move to your DMs. Similarly, any personal conversations between two members should also move to the DMs.
Other than that, have fun and make friends. You talk about whatever you want as long as you’re kind about it.
ADMINS and MODS
Admins and mods are required to have a blog that is 60% BTS related and have at least two (2) BTS fics posted.
The role of admin can be time-consuming and requires creative input, so we ask that all interested parties be willing to dedicate an hour or so each day to the network.
There is no previous admin experience required.
Admins are expected to help with the following:
A) Liking and queuing posts
B) Moderating chats
C) Archiving fics
D) Accepting new members
E) Providing creative input for various network events
F) Any other work that is required in order to keep the network running
The role of mod is less time consuming, but we ask that you still dedicate an hour or so to the network a week.
There is no previous mod experience required.
Mods are expected to help with the following:
A) Moderating chats.
B) Liking and queuing posts.
C) Accepting new members.
D) Archiving fics.
Seeing as we deal with NSFW content, both Admins and Mods must be 18+.
There will be a separate chat for admins and mods to discuss anything related to the network. It is required that all admins be a part of it and participate weekly.
Admins and mods are expected not only to follow the rules stated above but be leaders in how to be kind. If you feel like that isn’t something you can do, we kindly ask that you don’t apply.
If at any point being admin/mod becomes too much for you for any reason, please let us know. We would rather you take care of yourself than have a participant who is only half there.
The admin and mod password is “ROYGBIV”. Thanks for reading the rules!
There are limited admin and mod spots, so not everyone will be accepted. We ask that you respect our decision and understand we picked who we thought was best for the network.
So I went on a little hiatus, to rest and recharge my batteries! I focused on writing what i wanted without a deadline or people asking when stuff was coming out!
But I've decided to come back now!!
But there are some new ground rules!
First : I'm going to do it on my time!
Second: I will write what i want, when i want!!!
Third: Please guys start reblogging my stuff, I love, love, love comments and likes and everything you guys do. But I want to get it out there ya know? So please do that for me!
Writing Rule #3: You didn’t write today? That’s okay, you’re still a writer. You didn’t write this week? That’s okay, you’re still a writer. You didn’t write this month? That’s okay, you’re still a writer. Life happens, even to writers, so don’t beat yourself up about it. Most of us have to work full time jobs or are still in school. Just keep pushing
Hey! So I was wondering that if I write a non magical au with characters that were barely mentioned in the series (such as Marlene and Dorcas), would it still be accepted? Thank you! Hope it's not a bother!
Hi nonnie! That’s fine, as long as the characters are mentioned in the original seven books, it doesn’t matter how minor they are :)
Hello! I've never written anything as long as 25k, but I really want to try to participate in this event! Am I allowed to sign up and decide by the first check-in if I'll actually be able to write that much? I don't want to be a bother if I do have to drop
Hi! It is totally fine to sign up and then use the time up until the first check-in to determine if you’ll be able to participate; at that point in the process artists have not yet even signed up so it isn’t a bother if you have to drop then :) Go ahead and sign up now, and our only request is that you let us know promptly if you do end up having to drop. Thanks for your interest in the fest!
Minimum word count is 25,000 words. There will be no prompts or claiming; the plot of your story can be anything you choose.
All stories must feature a romantic/partnership component between two (or more) characters who are canonically not men. All writers must be over the age of 18.
Artists will be assigned to writers after the 50% check in, but if a writer and artist know they want to work together, there will be an opportunity to sign up as a team.
Writer timeline
1 Feb - 28 Feb: writer sign-ups
30 March: 25% check-in
21 April: 50% check-in and summary due
15 May: 80% check-in
31 May: deadline for submitting fic
21 June: posting begins
Because the purpose of this fest is to create written works that are minimum 25k, accompanied by 2 pieces of art, communication is extremely important. We don’t want any artists to be left in the lurch, without a story to go with their creation. Moderators will be communicating with participants via e-mail, and all participants who fail to reply to a moderator e-mail within seven days will be asked to leave the fest. Check-ins will also be very important for making sure that all writers are on track to finish their stories in time, and any writer who is more than one check-in behind (e.g. does not have at least 25% of their story written by the 50% check-in) will also be asked to leave the fest.
Please communicate with moderators if you encounter any issues, think you will need an extension, are having trouble finding an alpha or beta reader, etc. We want to help support you and make sure you are successful, but we can’t do that if we don’t know what’s going on.
If you have any questions, you can send us an ask on tumblr or e-mail us at [email protected]!
(Thanks again to @banana-ge-ge for this fabulous banner! We have one more banner post coming this weekend, and writer sign-ups open on 1 Feb!)
