An proposal you just can't refuse...
Just so y'all know I'm going to take my time writing Smoke and Annie's story with my fics. As someone who practices Hoodoo, I want to make sure I get in the headspace to write their story in a time of trauma. The movie still resonates with me and I can't rush that worldbuilding just to put something out. Y'all know how I get down, just wanted to give ya a heads up. It will be connected to my "Sinners/Ibeji" series, but I think I want to do different parts of their story from various POVs. Cuz it's going to get messy with Annie coming in between the brothers.
The Space Between
I keep your ghost in empty chairs, in half-filled cups and borrowed prayers, in the way the morning light still falls across the outline of your halls.
I loved you like a man who drowns in rivers wearing summer gowns — reckless, warm, and unaware the water doesn't know to care.
And now the silence fills the room the way a tide reclaims the dune, erasing all the prints we left, and I am standing here — bereft.
Yet somewhere underneath the grief, a stubborn, quiet, greening leaf is reaching through the broken stone — not asking much, just asking: home.
I do not want to mourn forever. I do not want to call it never. I want to learn to hold the ache the way a river holds the lake —
present, but not swallowed whole, a wound that teaches, not controls. So let me grieve you, let me feel each jagged edge until it's real —
and then, when morning finds me standing soft-eyed, slower in my landing, let me be the kind of man who loved, who lost, and rose again.
Not because the pain was small. But because I chose to after all.
-Me // From my diary of personal poetry's.
sometimes, when i re-read fic i've posted, i get a little sad because i can tell that i was doing some cool shit and only like 40 people took the time out of their day to read my cool shit.
and then i think about how if i was in a book store reading my cool shit and 40 people showed up to listen to me read it, i would be floored.
i do wish more than 2 of those 40 people stayed after the reading to talk to me about it though.
Pssttt...
Does anyone else love specific characters in their writing more than others, solely because some key aspect of them is based on someone you love deeply in real life?
Like they could be the most random background character, but if some part of them is based on my bestfriend, I can't help but adore them...
Writing and researching a historical fiction novel is like laying a track for a moving train.
Also, sometimes you read a 200 page nonfiction book just to write five pages.
May you never find peace

I have so much respect for smut writers. I literally cannot write a breeding kink, because then my brain will chime up and go, and then the kids will resent their parents for making so many kids that they can't spend time with them!
Then that cockwarming thing? Nice in theory but if you know anything about it, you'll go, uh...chafing?
This is why the unrealistic sex tag exists.
