writing poems but they’re all about me being touch starved so i’m too embarrassed to post them

this is the longest wordcount I’ve ever had on anything, by over a thousand
It is both hilarious and appalling that there is a subset of people on the Internet who think that fiction writers will corrupt the youth and make the domestic violence rates spike if they write too much about people and events that aren't morally perfect.
My partner is reading and leaving comments on the story I wrote and sent her
i know it’s always better to use a single descriptive verb than a verb-adverb combination, but listen, I absolutely hate the word “murmured” and in a lot of contexts “whispered” or “muttered” don’t have the right connotations, so “said softly” it is
I LOVE, when I'm writing a dialogue between two characters, doing this:

"You know what I mean." He did.

I think it finds its way into many pieces of writing I do, lol. Showing that the first character is correct about not having to explain theirself because the person they're talking to DOES understand them that well. I usually follow it by explaining to the reader some of what the first character meant, of course.
Why is it that I am terrible at writing romance and yet I am also near incapable of writing a piece of fiction focusing on two characters without making it sound like the start of a fucking slowburn fanfiction for them
