My main character was traumatized by someone very close to her years prior. She sees them again years later. I’m struggling on how she would react. Could you help?

 This is more of a question of empathy than of writing. There are so many questions to ask about the trauma that the character experienced,how much time has passed and how much she’s processed that pain. The nature of her character will depend on how she would react. Different people react in many different ways. You have to put yourself into their shoes and feel what they would be feeling. There would be forums and blogs on the subject as well but this sort of research can be a very difficult thing to do. Be careful of your own emotions. Self care is important.

I need some encouragement. I’m writing a novel I want to get published, but it doesn’t seem like anyone wants to read it. What should I do?

I can definitely relate to where you’re coming from. I’ve been there. In fact, I’d wager it’s safe to say all writers have been where you are.

The thing about writing is that you should be doing it first and foremost for yourself. As long as you’re writing something you’d want to read, something you’re passionate about, that’s what really matters. Write with passion so that your love for the work shines through in your writing—and the audience will follow.
