PLANNING MY MONTH . I finally managed to plan the month! HOORAY! 👏 . I know have a clear vision what I want and what I need to do to achieve my goals. . I have q lot of work but this month is less intense when it comes to my job so I'll have more time for my passions 😊 At least I hope so 🤞 . I need to plan a few more things but I'll do that later. Now it's time to get back to writing. . I also want to get back to making videos so I'm curious will it be interesting to you if I start to make IGTV videos about my plans and also, let's call them vlog-style videos to talk about my writing journey? . Here’s my introduction for the October #planwithmechallenge. My name is Jennifer and I’ve been bullet journaling for a year now. It took me several months to figure out how to make bullet journaling work for me, but when I did, I just ran with it! . Pictured here are my two planning systems: my #writersbulletjournal in my Leuchtthurm 1917 @leuchtturm1917 and my Traveler’s Notebook #keelindori handcrafted by @ImperfectlyPerfekt for my real life/mommy life. I keep both separate because each of these parts of my personality needs her own space. My writer self loves the notebook grid format of the LT1917 for managing tasks for my WIP and reading goals. My mommy self loves the separate inserts in my Keelindori Traveler’s Notebook for planning appointments/events, budget tracking, menu planning, and keeping track what’s in stock in our household supplies. I also love the portability of the Traveler’s Notebook because I bring it with me whenever I’m out running errands. . I’m also a former middle school English teacher and currently a stay-at-home for our four children ages 9 years old and under. I love reading and collecting books 😏, and I’m currently working on my first novel—a YA fantasy inspired by ancient Filipino culture. I don’t have much spare time, but when I do, I like to practice lettering and I’ve been trying art journaling as another creative outlet. I also barrage my friends with frantic messages/texts over characters and books—heavy on the emojis too. 😆 . Hello! If you’ve found me through books, writing, stationery, handwriting, bullet journaling, welcome! I’m so glad you found me! Featured also are my current obsessions: my current reads, notebooks (obvi), and washi tape (this collection is from @pretty.packages), my pen bag from @lunabluebags, and PENS. The Pentel Touch brush pens are my current lettering pens and I love how easy they are to use! . In addition to being an avid reader and total book nerd, I’m a writer and love all things stationery. Featured here are my #writersbulletjournal in my Anthracite squared Leuchtturm 1917 and my common place book in my soft cover dotted Moleskine. I also keep a Traveler’s Notebook for my real life/mommy tasks (not shown because I was running out of light and rushing to get this picture and totally forgot to get it out from my purse!) . I’ve been bullet journaling for a year now! (I started last September!) And I can say without a doubt, it’s the best thing I did to help me stay organized and productive. It wasn’t easy right away, but that’s what’s beautiful about this system—you adapt to whatever you need it to be. . I also love lettering/calligraphy, but I’m really new at it. Color coding is one of my favorite ways to organize my notebook. Here in my #writersbulletjournal, I use a color coding system to help find specific pages. In my first #writersbulletjournal, you can see that I color coded most of the pages based on the following system: purple for my monthly tracker, yellow for monthly goals, green for social media, orange for my weekly agenda/review, and red for my current reads tracker. I used circle stickers on the edges and folded them over. I like it so far, but the one that I refer to the most is the red for my current reads tracker. I think I might just use red for that and leave off all the colors, but I’m a creature of habit, so we’ll see. 😅😁 . Featured also are my buddy reads for this month. It’s more than I usually buddy read in one month, but I’m enjoying all of these SO much. I’m reading Flamecaster with Serena @girl_of_books_and_torchlight, My Lady Jane with Kori @_livelaughread, A Darker Shade of Magic with my friend Vicky, and Winter with my #booktwin Amy @ladyofthelibrary. I’m still #currentlyreading all of these books, but I can already recommend these with confidence. These are definitely books worth reading! . Challenge: #planwithmechallenge Color coding . It’s so much fun buddy reading. I love being able to talk with a friend in real time about about a book we’re both reading for the first time. It’s so nice to be able to laugh and cry over the same parts together! The thing is though I had not realized that I agreed to several buddy reads this month. 😅 It’s a bit overwhelming, but my #writersbulletjournal is helping me stay organized. . For the #planwithmechallenge, Overwhelm, each month, I use a reading tracker for the books I read during the month. It’s helped me gauge how long it will take to finish a book and also see my progress. To keep from being overwhelmed especially with multiple buddy reads, the reading tracker helps me stay on track with my daily reading entries. Each day I shade in a box for the book I read and note the page and/or chapter I read that day. If it’s been a while since I’ve read a book, I make sure to read more of that particular book. It’s also great for accountability. One of my goals is to finish reading 50 books and I’ve found what works for me is seeing my progress in my reading tracker and updating my reading status on Goodreads. I love the progress bar on Goodreads to show how much you’ve finished and the added pressure of social media helps too! 😂 If you’d like to see more about my reading tracker, check out the tag #jennfscurrentreadstracker. . I’m so glad some of you are finding my #writersbulletjournal posts helpful. For the #planwithmechallenge prompt, My planner helps me with accomplishing my goal to becoming a published writer. . Pictured here are my Leuchtturm 1917 @leuchtturm1917 notebooks. The top left notebook is from January-July of this year and the bottom left is my new LT1917 starting this month. My old notebook has my novel log which is a year long overview of my daily word counts for my novel. In the new notebook, is my monthly overview. It’s modified with a tracker to show how I spend my writing and reading time. I use the overview on the right page to make notes of what I did that day. The top right is my Moleskine WIP Notes and Word counts. My monthly calendar spread is used to show my daily word count and track how long it takes me to write a chapter (It takes about 3-5 days.) My daily entry in this notebook consists of word count information and story information. I take notes of what I wrote that day and what needs to be done for the next writing session so I don’t have to spend time rereading and don’t get stuck on editing. The notebooks on the bottom right aren’t bullet journals, but are still part of my system. I have a separate notebook for revision notes. I wanted to be able to get to the notes quickly when I start the revision process. These notes are indexed by chapter. Then there’s my research and notes notebook. I relied heavily on this at the beginning of the writing process. Since research is about collection, all my notes were just jotted down on whatever page. Once I finished my research, I categorized my notes and then created a color coded index to organize them for easy reference. . Spirit forest is by the amazing Tahira @tjlubrano. She captured my setting so beautifully! . I was thinking of showing some of my notebooks on my Instagram Story. What do you guys think? I’m sure you’re sick of me talking about my bullet journals! Hahaha. . Btw, yesterday was the one year anniversary of when I started my bookstagram/writers of Instagram account! I can’t believe it’s been a year!
