Prompt#30 the final masquerade.
Today’s the last day of National Poetry Month. I’ve enjoyed it so so much. Today, Cyrus posted this prompt and I have to admit, it’s my absolute favorite poem of all the ones I did this month.

The devil
Puts on her black mask
The twisted horns
Just another detail
To add to this farce
The messiah
Puts on his thorned crown
His gilded mask
Just another example
Of the greatest lie
They meet at the center
While angels and demons dance
In a sea of color
And god watches from his throne
With a smile to him,
The devil bows before the messiah
One last dance, she says
The messiah takes her hand
And so they dance
As they once did
Before god decided to tear heaven apart
They are simply
Two sides of the same coin
Two pawns in a god’s game
Two willing sacrifices to appease him
This is the end, he says
And when he slowly brings her to the finale
All the world stops
The messiah dares to caress her face
Before removing her mask
And all of heaven sees
Lucifer has always been
The most bright and shining star
Prompt#29 the end of the world.
There is a wolf in sheep’s clothing
Speaking honey laced lies
And the doe eyed sheep believe
He will save them all
But after his false peace
Comes devastation
And Death will escape us all
It is the end of the world, they say
The world is always ending, I reply
And it will always begin again
The wolves will drown
Under a bloody moon
And we will rebuild our homes
Over new earth, fire will be our power
Not our doom
And those would be prophets
They will face the fires of our truth
Let the world end,
We’re ready for it.
Prompt#28 word play: question, promise, mask, devour
O fallen prince
Remove your shadow mask
You have fulfilled your promise
And became heaven’s greatest foe
There is no question
The darkness your father
Spoke into your soul
Your perfect light, did not devour
