December 12, 2014 - Commute Day 201

Packed up my motherboard last night and am shipping it back to NewEgg today. I hope that's what's broken and not anything else!

7:30 AM - alarm. OKAY I'm getting up, gosh darnit. 

7:55 - really get up.

8:06 - depart. we see the train arriving, so decide to go the extra mile (or 10) and run over to Croton. Could have made it to Cortlandt, but we played it safe.

8:33 - train departs Croton. I'm trying to keep up a habit now of having a simple, half-hour task where if I complete it, I can do something more relaxing like reading. After procrastinating by running through feedly, I tried to get myself to apply to a playwriting competition (always a struggle for some reason), and found that I needed something like Adobe Acrobat. So I decided to take another look at Dystopiapiapia (since that's what I'd be submitting) and hey! Guess what? There were things I wanted to change. Cool! Worked on Act 1 for most of the trip, then once we got underground I switched to listening to 'Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan,' where they basically just made me glad that I stopped watching Sleep Hollow.

9:26 - train arrives at GCT. I'm carrying my NewEgg box so no biking.

9:34 - delayed 6 train departs.

9:49 - arrive at office.

December 9, 2014 - Catching up on Writing

December 9, 2014- Commute Day 198

Still can't figure out how to fix the motherboard I bought over Black Friday, so I have to assume it really is dead. Too bad! Went to bed too late.

7:30 AM - alarm

8:46 - roll out of bed.

9:02 - depart house. Super icy! We take it slow.

9:17 - arrive at train station. Nope. We wait around for the next train.

9:39 - train departs. I work on writing my 'The River' review. Was editing Dystopiapiapia but the playback rate has been weirdly inconsistent.

10:44 - train arrive at GCT. Not biking-- train for the first time in a while. Like an idiot, I go uptown in stead of downtown. Yikes. At least I'm listening to a fun Jeff Rubin podcast about Marvel movie and how they rank.

11:11 - arrive at office.

October 27, 2014 - Theater Critic

October 27, 2014 - Commute Day 169

Wonderful and busy weekend playing lots of boardgames (Gloom, Acquire, King of Tokyo, Lord of Waterdeep), seeing great theater ( Perro y Sangre & Scenes from a Marriage), being social with a wide variety of friends (Ian, Justin, Morgan, Lauren, Andrew, Alexa, Nick, Betsy, Paul), and going to a very cool book launch/reading event for Alexa’s husband, Nick’s, new book, ‘Die and Stay Dead.’ 

7:30 - alarm goes off

7:50 - actually get up.

8:03 - depart

8:14 - arrive at train station

8:20 - train departs. I work on writing my review of Scenes from a Marriage. First theater review I've written in a while! I got really sleepy toward the end though.

9:25 - train arrives at GCT (wow, only 5 minutes late!). 

9:40 - arrive at office.

October 15, 2014 - Writing Firefly

October 15, 2014 - Commute Day 183

Worked on a cover of 'Our Times, Our Lives' by Chadwick Stokes last night. I'd like to create my own take on the song, then also a simple video for anyone who wants to learn it.

7:15 - alarm goes off. Woke up early today because Liz has an 8:15 dentist appointment in Yorktown Heights. 

7:35 - depart for train. Roundabout is sad... I guess the 8:18 train is sweetspot for that, since it's also generally bad for the 8:42 train. 

7:48 - arrive at train station.

7:52 - train departs. I read a early rough draft of a Firefly Spec Script Danton started, and I'm super excited by it. Looking forward to developing it and mixing our styles together. Just jotted down ideas and notes on the train.

8:56 - oh wow, the train isn't like super late! Crazy. Maybe I should be taking this one in the morning. Bikes are still sparse, but I managed to grab one from someone parking.

9:13 - arrive at the office! parked on 18th street. Still mostly full, but there was a spot.  Total commute time this morning: 1:38

October 3, 2014 - Hey! I went back to something

October 3, 2014 - Commute Day 169

For some reason I was afraid that since I took a several-day pause from working on Cat's Cradle, I'd have a lot of trouble jumping back into it (because I dunno... prior experiences?). No trouble!

7:30 AM - alarm off.

7:51 - out of bed

8:03 - depart

8:15 - arrive at train station (why is there always a line of cars coming out of the Peekskill roundabout? Are people still having that much trouble figuring out roundabouts? Also-- lights that always stay green?

8:26 - train arrives (delayed). I type Cat's Cradle stuff the whole time, covering from Jonah's first boko-maru experience to Papa Monzano asking for 'ice'. In an effort to reduce characters, who should perform the last rites? Mona? Philip Castle? Papa Monzano hates him... so that could be interesting.

9:23 - somehow the train arrives "on time" (or at least consistent with when it usually arrives)

9:45 - arrive at the 18th street bike drop. It's still not working (yesterday after work it wasn't)... neither is the 21st and 6th avenue one. So I go all the way to 7th and 20th. In the future I think I'll go down to the 16th and 5th one if this happens.

10:00 - arrive at office.
