come, pull up your throne and sit

where good and bad cease to exist

here, your command is our wish.

you can spin your own stories, turn your own twists

this kingdom is a maze where sanity won’t be missed

carve your heart, bury it beneath your sleeve

cross it at a funeral as you grieve

the party never ends, the guests will never leave

bond by your cursed word till morning’s eve

come, lay your head upon your pillow and sleep

here, only the monsters beneath your bed frame can hear you weep

you can cry your own tears, count your own sheep

this kingdom is a dream you cannot keep

sing your song, scream your sorrow

steal a voice and never borrow

instill a blinding fear to subdue all who do not follow

and finally, it is tomorrow

@writnetwork ‘s october 2018 prompt: BLOOD RED DROPS ON FALLEN LEAVES

Something cold ran down my lips, dripping off my chin and landing in perfect droplets on the crumbled leaves half caught under my boots. I swiped under my nose, fingers coming back a brilliant ruby.

The world lurched like film on a reel, that single a frame of blood smeared over my hand and the pooling drops of it at my feet. “But...But I thought...”

“Funny, you lot rarely think at all. But I do suppose poison’s a tricky thing and requires quite a bit of intelligence. A little does wonders for your health, but its lethal amount is what you were looking for.” She sipped the spiked tea I had given her, her demeanor casual. The steam dissipated into the air as her blood red, but bloodless lips puckered around the rim. “Congrats by the way—you got the dosage spot on. Too bad you won’t live long enough to see the aftermath. There’s just something about seeing a man frothing from the mouth that puts me in a terrific mood!”

It took a moment for her words to click. “You switched them!” I shouted, “You conniving little—“ A fit of painful coughs erupted from deep within my chest, earning a wide smile from her.

“I’d call you clever, but in all honesty? You’re not. Fortunately, our time for now is nearly up.”

The corners of my vision darkened, my legs giving in to the Earth’s increasing gravity. The pavement was ice against my face.

“Oh, but don’t fret. We’ll meet again some day in the deepest pit of hell. In the meantime,” She spared me a single, regretless glance before slipping a pair of blackout sunglasses onto the bridge of her nose. “Try to dream up another way to kill me.”

Mod position?

If you’ve ever wanted to be a mod for a network then why not apply to be one with us? We have two current mods but both of us will be fairly busy next year. As such, we’d love for someone else to join us.

Worried about what you’d have to do? don’t worry we’re not asking you to climb mountains! You simply need to reblog our members content and promote our monthly contests :) of course, we will help as well so don’t worry about doing everything yourself.

Secret Santa:

Hey guys! We thought along with the Prompt Contest in this beautiful month of December we will also be hosting a Secret Santa for us writers!

This event is for all of you beautiful human beings so you don’t even have to be a Writnetwork member to trade written-gifts in this winter time. (however, following us is required!) 

This holiday gift-giving will function as follows:

You can submit any piece of writing to us. Anything at all! Maybe Christmas Inspired, maybe somehow set in the Summertime (though we would like to remind you that you should keep in mind that this is winter-themed). We just ask all of you to keep it PG13 and trigger-free to assure a good experience for everybody! If you want your writing to specifically go to one person, please specify, but be aware that it might not work out.

With submitting something you are automatically on the list to receive something as well.

We will take submissions until a few days before Christmas (we will announce the deadline the day before it sets in) to give ourselves enough time to sort through all the submissions. The deadline can either be five days before Christmas or only one, depending on how many submissions we get!

From the 24th to the 25th you will receive a secret Santa from us submitted by somebody. The time will depend completely on your time zone, as we cannot account for everyone's.

We, of course, urge you to post your Secret Santa that you received and write what you thought about it!

You will also receive an ask or message from us telling you who your Secret Santa went so you can see their reaction to it ^^ If we send an ask, please do not publish it openly, as this will defeat the purpose of a Secret Santa.

We hope to get many submissions for this event and for everybody to have fun writing!

As always, your writing can be as long or short as you would like and in any writing form e.g. poetry etc provided it contains more than 10 words :D

We are using this holiday as it is tradition to do a Secret Santa for Christmas, but if you’d want to introduce a tradition we could revamp to something writing-related from your own culture/religion don’t be afraid to shoot us a message or an ask! We are always open for new ideas!

The sky turned

Into the color

Of a bruised red sea

And bitterly mourned

The loss of her

Beautiful lover

Autumn

When the

evil spirit of

Winter

Slowly strangled

Her breaths

From her core

From that day

The sky didn't shine

Either at day

or at night

It only turned

colder and colder

With each

passing moment

And ever so often

Shed tears of blood

From his bleeding soul

Which fell upon the

Soft green leaves

And turned them

Into the shade

Of a painful

Raw wound

That resembled

The whole of

His heart

A wound that

Could never

Ever truly heal

In a life bereft

Of his one true love

By his side
