I look forward to the day where we will be having a playful fight that ends with me chasing you around the house until I capture you and tickle you, making the whole world disappear so you can just feel utterly happy in this moment.

I wanna cuddle with you on a Sunday evening and binge as many space movies as we can. Bundled in a blanket in the dark drinking sweet wine and fruity coolers and get tipsy and giggly. I wanna talk about theories and dismantle every film that tries to tell us how time and space work. And when it’s 3 A.M. and we’ve watched all we can take of space travel, alien invasion, and time travel movies as we can stand and our theories are just jumbles of words slurred together in nonsensical sentences told through yawns, I wanna fall asleep in each other's arms agreeing to give a big “screw you” to our Monday morning jobs.
Do you think it’s wise to be sassy? Do you truly believe you can say those things without there being any consequences? We both know you only say those things to get a rise out of me, we both know what you want. Oh what happened to being a snarky sarcastic brat? Why do you look scared? Have you realized that I’m not just going to sit here and take your sarcastic attitude? Have you realized you’ve forced me to retaliate? I think so. And as much as I want to dissolve you into a mess of laughter, I’ll be fair. You can have a 10 second head start. 1, 2, 10! Sorry, I never truly learned how to count to 10, but that seems to be more of a problem for you than me seeing that you’re now trapped in my arms, squirming and laughing. It’s funny how you repeat “No” over and over again, isn’t this what you wanted? You wanted me to give you attention, didn’t you? Isn’t this why you were being a brat, pushing my buttons the way you did knowing full well what would happen? Didn’t you want tickles? No? Well then we’ll just have to work on our communication skills then, how about we practice? Let’s count how many times you beg me to stop before you actually say our safeword ;)
Watching the snow slowly drift to the ground. The sounds of Christmas movies playing through in the background mixing with the soft crackle of the fire burning to keep us warm. Fresh sugar cookies sit next to the steaming mugs of hot chocolate. Cuddled together, bundled up under the blanket on the couch we watch the small puffs of cotton float to the white blanket below, glistening in the moonlight. With eyelids drooping I nuzzle into your shoulder yawning nearly falling asleep, but I don’t miss the little kiss you give my cheek as you whisper in my ear, “Merry Christmas Eve lovely.”
=============
Hope you're having a merry Christmas everyone! Stay warm and enjoy the time with your loved ones!
I dream about us being in the kitchen and cooking pizza together on a cold night, the banter back and forth gradually grows into physical retaliations. Throwing flour and pepperoni at each other, screaming and laughing, chasing each other around the kitchen. And in the end there's more flour and toppings covering us than the actual pizza in the oven.
The air is crisp as the colorful autumn leaves float down around us. The sun is slowly sinking along the horizon, creating a beautiful pink and red strawberry sky. The October breeze blows sweetly through the trees as we pick the ripened fruits they bare. You pick off a big bright red apple that looks to be promisingly juicy. I pick off one that is bruised and a little beaten. Your eyebrows scrunch and you ask me why I would pick one that looked so disfigured. I smile and gently place the hurt fruit in our bag, saying that no matter how damaged something is with the right TLC it can be made into something great. And often times it's the ugliest looking ones that make the sweetest treats. You smile a little at my philosophy and take my hand. Kissing my cheek you agree and suggest that we stay another hour to collect only the damaged apples together.
A Saturday sun shines through the blinds, pulling me out of slumber. I stretch and smile, seeing you curled up next to me in our bed. Tired eyes still closed, adorable messy bed head, and the faintest hint of a grin tugging at your lips. Careful not to wake you I slide out of bed and slink out to the kitchen, bent on making the perfect breakfast fit for a lazy Saturday. As I crack the eggs into the pan I don’t even notice you coming up behind me. I’m a little startled when your arms wrap around my waist, hugging me as you rest your chin on my shoulder. I relax and giggle lightly when you nuzzle my neck, your beard tickling a little. And I can hear my heart explode with undefinable joy when I hear your voice hum out the four words that for years I had been convinced I’d never end up actually hearing.
“Good morning, my love."
As we stand in line at the store with the three huge bags of candy, I hear the cashier ask, "Preparing for trick or treaters, huh?" There's a small exchange of glances between us. We both know the reason we're buying this candy. This candy will not go out to excited children dressed in adorable costumes. No, this candy will sit in the enormous bowl on the coffee table. Tonight the house will be seemingly lifeless, and with the lights off in the warm glow of the television that candy will be eaten as we snuggle together under the blanket watching cheesy 80's horror films into the early morning hours of November 1st. And when we wake up in each other's arms, that candy will be no more. Knowing the exact events that are about to unfold tonight we both smile back at the cashier and say, "Of course."
