Today my mother was given the news at her doctor that today would be the last time they can see her. Workers Comp has forced her doctor to admit that her hand will never get better. She will be disabled for the rest of her life.
Her hand is damaged forever. All because a patient her job KNEW was physically abusive to staff and had issues attacked her and kicked her hand so badly, he nearly bent her thumb. She can’t even lift 5 pounds. Her three fingers are numb. But they can’t do anything anymore. And what’s worse, is that because today is her last day, Worker’s Comp will stop paying her the $400 they used to give her every week because they tried to lower it. They wanted to stop paying her. For the longest time, they kept insisting she needed to improve so they could either lower the cost or stop paying her entirely.
They kept insisting her hand would magically get better. Two-three surgeries and her hand isn’t any better. We can’t sue the patient that attacked her, we can’t sue the stupid ass hospital that let this happen. Because Texas law protects the companies over its workers that kill themselves to support themselves. I work 4-5 every week. 8 hours every day. Physically tiring my body out at 22 years old. I’m paid $14/hr. And it ISNT enough! My whole check is the cost of our rent. We never no money left over for light, for water, for gas, for car, for insurance. wtf do they expect her to do? She can’t get hired because most jobs demand physical labor. And she can’t do that!
So Columbus Commuity Hospital? F### you. You fired my mom six weeks after the incident. We have all the proof. But no lawyer will help us because of Texas Law. And f### Texas Law for failing my mother and so many others. Because of you, my mother’s dream of being in the medical field have come to an end.
