!!! That is fucking awful, because anxiety attacks for me are 1000 times easier to deal with when someone responds with patience and quiet support, it doesn't even take much. Your dad is missing out on so much of your life, it's a fucking shame

I was just stuck in this like panicked feedback loop and then bestie showed up at the restaurant I was in (she knew I was there, she didn’t know anything was wrong) and as soon as she walked in she was like “Oh babe. Okay.” and just hugged me and held Jack in her lap and talked quietly to me and then stood outside in the cool air with me for about half an hour before I left to drive home and it helped so, so much. 

Like all he had to do was say “Oh wow this is hard, huh? Let’s go somewhere quiet and let you get through it.” And in a little bit I would / did. It’s not like Khimen has ever had a panic attack - hell, three years ago or so she was espousing the benefits of yoga for people with mental illnesses because she didn’t know or understand. But just being friends with me for a few years as a friend has been enough to help her understand the truth. My dad’s known I was sick since I was 8. Twenty years and he can’t deal with seeing a panic attack without getting angry?
