BHP in Beijing. (If you are too, get in touch, wechat “blackheartpress”). Guest teaching at Tsinghua University, in FuBin’s wonderful litho shop.
BHP’s first time in China. Good reality check to notice how entangled my life is in Google products. As usual, absence is the best reminder of a presence much cherished, aka NOTHING FUCKING WORKS. Whoever invented VPNs, after this post (writing on phone, so not too much into multitabbing) I’ll learn your name and make up a prayer to say every night. Tunnelbear ftw.
Aaaanyway, in the usual fashion:
1. When in China… BHP on the left vs FuBin on the right, incredulous undergrads in attendance. The paper table can be converted to a ping pong board. Stealing this idea!
2. Leather roller care. No surprises here.
3. Lingshi and Paopao on the longest graining sink(s) I’ve ever seen. Good stuff. These ppl grain with 40(!) grit for their first pass, relentless.
4. BHP shows the few surviving prints. Everybody says the kindest praise. Thené tea. My (average European) coffee consumption triples everyone elses here. Not sure if ppl are in awe or disgusted.
5. Le Shop.
6. Wudaokou street scene. Your guess is as good as mine.
7. Chine-collé in Liulichang W Street. It doesn’t get more chine-collé than this. (Outside a shop for mounting calligraphy onto scroll backings)
8. Day one was “take selfies with BHP day”. Billy and Lingshi.
