Di Feisheng Rescues King Xunming of Yama and Wuyan from Jiao Liqiao's Water Dungeon

I have no idea how I watched this show as many times as I have and did not cotton on to the fact that the second person in this dungeon was Wuyan until YESTERDAY. OTZ I suppose, in my defense, it is VERY badly lit, but STILL. His face is very distinctive, even with his hair out of its customary ponytail. Oops? XD

Anyway, now I'm sitting here unable to stop thinking about Yan-wang Xunming (and WHY exactly does that get translated as "King Xunming of YAMA?") and Wuyan trapped together in this dungeon for the entire time that Di Feisheng was traveling with Li Lianhua and Fang Duobing as A-Fei. The last they heard of him was him going off to confront Jiao Liqiao and then he disappears and Jiao Liqiao routs out all the remaining people loyal to him and takes over Jinyuanmeng, rebranding it as her own.

Wuyan and the three kings are the only people Di Feisheng was really close to in Jinyuanmeng. They're the only people he trusted even a little. And now they're stuck here in this dungeon, not knowing if their Zunshang is even alive or dead. And it's very clear from how quickly they break their chains when Di Feisheng arrives that they could have gotten out at any time, so why didn't they? Why didn't they leave and go looking for Di Feisheng? Were they biding their time? Hoping to gather useful intel? Did they really believe he was dead and were waiting for an advantageous time to avenge him? I WANT TO KNOW. THE MOTIVATION.

(Side note: DAMN but Wuyan looks like 10 miles of badly traveled road. He has absolutely been put through the wringer here and I want someone to cuddle him. TT^TT)

AND THEN THERE'S THIS NONSENSE:

WUYAN. *headdesk* ARE YOU SERIOUS.

YOU NEVER THOUGHT.

THAT JIAO LIQIAO.

WOULD CONSPIRE WITH OUTSIDERS AGAINST HIM???

After everything she's done both recently and 10 years ago to do exactly that??? Either Wuyan is the WORST kind of blind romantic or he has so much faith in Di Feisheng's ability to be the most terrifying motherfucker in every room that he never thought in a million years that Jiao Liqiao would have the balls to stand up to him, much less successfully take him down.

Either way it's... a little bit adorable? And there's no question that that blind faith in Di Feisheng is a good deal of what makes him good at his job, but it's also given him some giant blind spots that can't be helpful.

Either way, I'm now mentally reevaluating my opinion on his age. I think the Three Kings were probably about of an age with Di Feisheng or fairly close, maybe a year or two off in either direction. But now I think Wuyan must have been younger--just enough younger that that blind faith had a chance to root and grow.

...and now I want to write all the fic about their imprisonment leading up to this episode (and them trying to comfort each other that Di Feisheng is probably FINE without trying to act like that's what they're doing) and their background--when they met, how they formed Jinyuanmeng, just... bb!Wuyan tagging along with Di Feisheng and the boys who would become the Three Kings and doing his best to keep up even if it kills him.

i do think wuyan had a sit down with di feisheng when they were first starting to pull an alliance together and was like hey my lord! thanks for wrenching the nails out of my hands and saving me from that dungeon because you needed someone in the gang who understood how to calculate nautical miles. here is the deal, my personal savior, you gotta start washing your hair more. once a week is not going to cut it. and you need to detangle because you have--yes, the knot you hate at the back of your neck, that you're always pulling at and i've seen you hack at with a knife. and while you're doing your hair, your face and perhaps the greater area of your powerful body? This will improve your quality of life immensely. Also, and please put down said knife, haha, I know you enjoy the fur pelt of the first master you defeated but I think you should go through those chests we retrieved from the marquis we killed and see if any of those robes are in your size. or i can. i actually already have and have some options for you because word on the street is that the orthodox sects all have 1000 thread count outfits and like, hand-crafted circlets and i think it is critical that we stunt on those whores.

Wu Yan grimaces. “That's less clear. I've asked around but no one could immediately identified them.” He pauses, then asks delicately, “Could you ask Li Menzhu about them?”

He could, Di Feisheng thinks, if he could get ahold of the man. Sunday night, Xiangyi had shown up to his house out of the blue and proceeded to suck his dick in the foyer before dragging him back to the bedroom and goading him into round two—not that Xiangyi'd had to put in much work. The next day Xiangyi had stuck around for some sleepy morning sex, sweet and almost pliant, his usual grumpiness nowhere in evidence—and then he'd disappeared.

You and @eirenical are on the same wavelength, as it were (haha); I just answered one for "light" here , but I just found a new passage for "light" that you haven't seen yet, so I figured it would be a good one to share!

Wuyan hesitated again. "My expectation is based on prior experience, and"—he tapped a finger on the ladle as he struggled for words—"knowledge of the intervening time," he said at last, with a meaningful eyebrow raise.

Well, that was no help at all. Unless—disorientation, a-Fei not knowing where he was, recent events—Li Lianhua narrowed his eyes. "You mean his amnesia from Wuxin Huai. The damage to his Bai Hui acupoint." He gripped Dao's tassel tightly in his hand. So the acupoint damage was triggering a qi deviation and causing amnesia? Just how much had a-Fei been hiding from him?

Wuyan's wince was answer enough.

Li Lianhua swore internally, gripped the tassel with all his strength, and tried to take a calming breath. "That problem, at least, we can fix," he said, trying to project reassurance he only partially felt. "Xiaobao is going to heal that acupoint, which should address the memory problems—"

"—No." Wuyan jumped to his feet, dropping the ladle into the pot with a clang. "He can't."

"What do you mean, he can't?" Li Lianhua snapped, his heart racing so fast he felt light-headed. "How else do you propose we descend the Rebellious Qi and prevent another qi deviation? If Xiaobao heals it, then a-Fei will be in less pain, less panicked from amnesia"—Gods above, how had a-Fei hidden that from him?—"and calm enough that his qi won't sear holes in his meridians!"

Wuyan's hands clenched into fists at his side. "It's not damaged, Li-menzhu," he said, panic bleeding through his thin veneer of calm. "It's partially sealed. Deliberately."

Li Lianhua blinked at him, his mounting terror slowing his mind to a quarter of its usual speed. "He . . . partially sealed it to . . . block memories?"

"Precisely," Wuyan bit out. "And what do you think unsealing the acupoint would do?"

Sometimes I feel like at some point Li Xiangyi saw how Di Feisheng was so free to just pester him to fight with him instead of yk doing paperwork and other admin stuff that should probably come with running a Sect, and he probably regretted not recruiting Wuyan to Sigu Sect first.

I was talking with @kingsandbastardz the other day and happened to get enough inspiration to smash this out. Kind of ooc for dfs? But also it's exactly him because he is that possessive.

The harsh noise of the waterfall has become the background to his meditation by now. His senses easily wash over his surroundings, aware of every stone and tree and blade of grass. Di Feisheng feels one corner of his mouth quirk up, infinitesimally, at a change in the air.

“Mengzhu,” Wuyan says, materializing by his side. He brings the scent of pine with him, as he always does. Di Feisheng breathes it in. “I come to report there are no threats in the area.”

“As expected,” he says. It was Wuyan after all who had found this waterfall for his meditation, and it was him who worked hard to make it safe for him. “Always diligent.”

“Mengzhu,” Wuyan says. It comes out like he’s saying thank you. He leans in and pulls him closer by the back of his robes. “You flatter this one,” he says.

Di Feisheng rumbles as he presses his nose against the warm, vulnerable skin of Wuyan’s neck. It had taken a long time to get him to stop saying this lowly one or this unworthy one. He disagrees with those forms of address because Wuyan is the most capable person he’s ever met. “It is merely a fact,” he says before he turns his head to kiss him.

Wuyan reciprocates. He kisses him like they have all the time in the world, his hands sliding carefully over his ornate robes. Di Feisheng, amused despite how familiar this all is now, lets him take the lead. They end up sideways in the grass, trading breath between their soft open mouths. He considers this too a kind of meditation.

“Mengzhu,” Wuyan says finally, some indeterminable time later. It’s in his apologetic tone that means they probably should stop indulging themselves and resume their normal roles and responsibilities. He huffs and accepts it, sitting up. Wuyan does the same, shaking the grass from his ponytail. He feels something akin to jealousy, looking at his plainer clothes and simpler hairstyle.

“Go first,” he orders. Wuyan gets up and bows, disappearing in front of his eyes. His pine scent, a byproduct of his qi-concealing technique, lingers even as his qinggong carries him away. Di Feisheng breathes it in one last time.

A-Yan, he thinks possessively. It’s too dangerous a thought to have. It’s a double-edged sword, the kind that can kill him or Wuyan or both of them. He breathes it out and leaves it to be carried away by the water as he goes, following.

Wip-Wednesday- The Dao of Baking

Have a tiny update. I needed some respite from reality.

Wuyan took pity on him and came over with a huge cup of coffee with whipped cream on top, powdered with cocoa and cinnamon. 

‘Here you go. Boss told me to give you a treat when you showed up. He was very grateful for your help, apparently? Haven’t seen him smile like that in years, so you must have done something right.’

Wuyan’s soft voice made the situation slightly better. Fang Duobing perked up a little and accepted the drink with a more genuine smile. Lao Di had liked what they did and even left a message for him with Wuyan. Maybe all wasn't over yet.
