It’s spooky szn
So I recently came across wwe comics. And issue #13; you know, this one...
It has one of my favorite matches told in story, which is this. It's quite famous:
Here's the thing though. The art style in this specific section of the comic for some reason, is absolute bonkers, but also a tiny bit lazy. It looks good at some points but the whole thing is just kinda lackluster. Would anybody be interested in me redrawing a few panels? If so, good, because I'm already working on a couple. 😂
I'm not trying to prove to be better or anything, I just felt it would be fun to do this. I'll be posting a wip later.
{ like if you plan on using any of these, please do not claim as your own. c:@blackcat-creations }
Are you a mark for Finn Bálor and Spider-Man? If you answered yes, these are the comics for you.
Here come my kayfabe-compliant thoughts on Finn and the Demon, so strap the fuck in.
Okay, so the official WWE comics established that Finn beat up the demon Bálor and stole its power. (There's a lot to unpack there with regards to who Finn is as a person, but I'll get to that later. )
So he takes down a literal demon, and then he picks up its fallen headdress and puts it on. The comic describes the cold feeling he got from it, and goes on to say that Finn immediately knows better than to use Bálor's power unless he really needs to. But why is that?
Several reasons:
1. The Demon makes Finn too reckless, throwing his own bodily concern out the window in favor of winning by any means necessary.
2. The demon gets another little piece of Finn every time he uses it, and he's afraid of losing himself completely.
3. He wants his accomplishments to be his own, and only accepts the "help" when absolutely necessary.
So. The Demon gives Finn power, but... what's in it for the Demon? Sure, Finn beat him up and took his hat, but Bálor is clearly not dead because
1. There is no way in fuck that a single slingblade *killed* a demon. It's not even a finisher.
2. If the Demon was dead, it couldn't give him power.
This leads me to believe that Bálor attached itself to Finn via that headdress. It might be bested, but it's not beaten. It's a fucking demon. You can't just walk away from a fucking demon.
When Finn took in Bálor's power, he also took in Bálor. And now the Demon King gets his soul.
So we see this amazing man, living with all this passion and drive, soaking in every minute in nature, every minute in front of a crowd, every minute doing what he loves... because he knows This Is It.
He's got everything he ever wanted. He's a pro wrestler - one of the best in the world. He's making a difference for causes he cares about. He's living his dreams. But when it's all over, at the end of his life, he knows exactly what he's staring down. This Is It. So he's gonna take advantage of every second of it while he can.
He's done it mostly on his own, too. Which is good, because being The Best is essentially what he set out to do. He's also proud... something he and his dark passenger have in common. They both want the praise, the adulation, the recognition. Finn climbs the ring post and throws up his arms, and the world does it with him, and both the man and the Demon bathe in the adoration of a sea of fans.
Because at the end of the day, Finn is the type of motherfucker who knocks down a demon and steals its crown as a trophy.
Tagging @finni-b because they might actually give a shit.
