The Good Mythical New Day
I know nothing about pro wrestling - apart from just binge watching first season of GLOW on Netflix this week. So I had no idea who today's guest hosts for Good Mythical Summer were, until I saw WWE in the description for this episode. Also, I guess I could have figured out who these guys were just by looking at them. Gosh, they are buff! When I think of pro wrestlers, I usually get this mental image of Hulk Hogan in my head, and I'm sorry, but I've never been able to see why he's so popular. My dislike for him has tainted my conception of the whole industry. But these three guys - they were not only witty, but also very smooth, attractive and most of all funny. All things I never imagined saying about wrestlers! I know Link is a fan of WWE and after being introduced to the New Day, I kind of get why. These guys knew how to put on an amazing show, filled the studio with their presence and once again, delivered a wonderful combo of mythicality and their own personas. To be honest, I almost enjoyed their random commercials more than the ones R&L made. Of course, then I remember Bartholomew and Link's abacus ad... I laughed out loud during Big E's tin foil hat pillow ad, and I think I might have teared up during his seductive dance. Xavier did a good job selling the spork and the iPad, but I think I would buy both the nasty purse and the power cord from Kofi at any time. The WWTeaparty in More was entertaining, although I didn't even know what they were talking about most of the time (football or ironman - I got lost). But I enjoyed just following the banter. A trio of true entertainers!
