Got an urge recently to finish an old art I’d started for a design of one of my original animals. This is the wygern—a whale, shark, and tiger inspired beast that is the terror of the seas and the bane of ships. Larger than a house, meaner than a thonras, faster than most anything on land or in the deep blue oceans, they are the ultimate sea-borne predator.

Just pray that one doesn’t find your ship when they’ve accumulated enough napalm to breathe it all across the deck...

A work in progress drawing I’ve been working on, off and on—tis a wygern, an aquatic beast similar to a tiger, but with several unique traits. I was inspired to give the wygern as many special facial features as possible, so I gave them the unique chin of Beau from Dragon Booster! ;3 They also have fins where their spine meets the tail there at their rear, similarly to how night furies such as Toothless have.

It’s being a pain, but I’m loving it…
