wah thank you! i hope to repost more of the lore i write up on bluesky and ellipsus here soon. i'm always happy when people think wyra is cool! <3
and YES fellow y'shtola lovers... i'll admit i when i started playing this game in 2020 i was like "i think it would be funny if wyra joked that that they have a relationship and they don't. i think it would annoy y'shtola and be very silly." and then i went to gateway fate back in october and was like "well. what if it was not a joke." and here we are LMAO

Decided to do post-processing on this one bc I wanted to stomp her little heart into the dirt :)
23. How obedient to authority is your character?
Wyra actually struggles a bit with this.
Initially, she is a rule follower and very obedient. As a kid, she was a goody-two-shoes, having lost her parents to the calamity before being old enough to get really rebellious. She grew up in the North Shroud so she was taught from a young age to respect elementals and etc., so rules were very obviously there for a reason in her mind.
As she grows as an adventurer, though, she grows to realize that perhaps not all authority is necessary to obey, and sometimes in fact it is for the greater good to disobey direct orders.
She initially takes on any old job and would let anyone push her around without minding too much (or otherwise leaving her displeasure as an unexpressed thought).
Then, the Crystal Braves betrayal happens, and Ul'dah goes after her, yet she still doesn't apply the lesson broadly since she already views Ul'dahn leadership as generally sketchy.
Ishgard happens. Authority is one of the biggest adversaries for Wyra there, with the people in command creating laws that actively hurt people. The highest-authority figures lead to Haurchefant's death.
After that, she is much less bound to obedience. She will still follow rules when she can, as she views getting along and slipping under the radar as wiser than confrontation, but she isn't afraid to break the rules if she judges it as necessary.
Her Azem, Iris, hit the point of following the "greater good" much earlier, thanks in part to Venat's tutelage. She breaks rules far more often and without even pausing.
