I FINALLY FINISHED MY UPDATED WATXM TOAD REFERENCE SHEET
I’m so happy with how it turned out!
I also wrote up a small head cannon thing I have for him:
Mortimer Toynbee or as he is more well-known as “Toad” was the middle child of five children. He was often ignored and neglected due to his parents busy work schedule. he was also heavily bullied at his school and had no friends.
When he was 13, his mutation started to show and at 15 he was kicked out of the house because his family was afraid of him.
He spent years on the streets learning how to pickpocket, steel and hide alongside becoming more skilled with his mutation. When he was 17, he joined the brotherhood and stayed with them until he was 21.
One day he was finally abandoned by them after a mission gone wrong. He was heartbroken, as he considered them his family, and he went into an extreme depression. His mental state got worse than ever before, and he became desperate for anyone’s affection or attention more than ever. He would work for anyone who would give him the time of day until he was hired at a local (illegal) mutant bar as a janitor and bartender. (he had no home to go back to after his shifts so he would just hide out in the attic.)
After a few months of working there one day a special customer would come in that he would later learn was Forge. They would begin to talk and would have a good time together. Forge would end up becoming a regular(sometimes he would go just to see Mort) they ended up becoming friends. But they didn’t know about the history they shared as they had never seen each other on the battlefield before. and eventually, this would turn into Forge inviting Mort over to his home ( the X mansion) and Mort would accept not knowing he was literally going into enemy territory.
Of course, when he arrived, he was immediately terrified, felt betrayed and ran out after almost being shot at with a laser by Scott. Forge ran after him and tried to explain everything saying he didn’t know, and this starts an argument about how they’re different and how Mort views himself as a horrible person that no one can like and how he was just being tricked to get captured again. John says that he does like him and convinces him that it’s worth a try to show people he’s changed. And after a lot of convincing (and begging the X-Men to not murder his crush) he manages to get Mort to come back, properly introduces him to the X-Men(Mort is still very uneasy around them) and they began to grow closer than they were before.
Mortimer even begins living there with John after he finds out he’s basically homeless.
And after a while and gaining the trust of the others, and them gaining his trust,Mort is offered to become an X-Men. He is very emotional and moved and he is very happy and around this time is when him and John officially start dating.
