my favorite thing about rancher duo is that they are both pathetic little meow meows, but tango is the kitten who would trip over himself trying to attack the curtains and then start screaming and jimmy is the kitten who would somehow fall into the water bowl and then look at you sadly until you did something about it.
A Reflection on 2025
(skip to the end for a poem)
2025. What. A. Year. 2025 has to have been one of our most difficult years yet. Here's a brief, whistle-stop tour of our year:
We were able to escape from a… let's say less than ideal living situation
We started seeing our new therapist who has helped us massively to figure ourselves out and eventually get us into a relatively good bill of mental health
K realised it wasn't a transgender woman but was non-binary, and later genderqueer
K realised that the reason it identified as genderqueer is because it's also a wolf, and wolves have been known to have a disdain for the gender binary
Our headmate count ballooned from 2 to 7
M, our assigned mental health manager, was able to step back a little from permanent crisis management mode and do some soul searching for themself
We have begun to feel creatively fulfilled for the first time ever, with a few different fiction pieces going, some poetry and a zine (and with more to come!)
Our headspace has grown from one little room to a few different and more complex locales, and it's only growing more and more
Not captured by that summary is the sheer difficulty of this all. It took us a long, painful few months to learn to be happy again, now that we've escaped our previous living situation. We're still learning, to an extent, but we have weathered the worst of the storm now.
It's also been a year for a lot of personal growth. Not just in discovering more about ourselves, about our myriad otherkin identities and new headmates, but also in our collective resilience. A hundred and one events have conspired against us this year, daring to suppress us, and yet here we are, standing strong. It's on this note that I've written our last poem for the year, to encapsulate as best I can our struggles and our triumphs.
not to vague but (part of) the entire point of mapleshade is that she actually was, at least in part, responsible for her kits' deaths, yet she can't accept that she played a role in their demise so she strikes out against anyone and everyone else that was even slightly involved, and some of those she attacks were also responsible but others were only tangentially related. that's literally the entire plot of mapleshade's vengeance.
if you read her desperately bargaining with herself to absolve herself of blame for her kits' deaths and pin it on anyone and everyone else and thought "so true queen" that's a you problem.
Rain
A poem by me
In the rain I was walking. Deep in the forest.
Strong was the storm.
Strong were the drops falling.
I shivered in the darkness of the trees.
The forest whispered, the falling rain sang.
Cold and numb I was, but yet, I walked.
The storm was long and hard.
The world was a river of glass.
Where I went, I didn't know.
But the darkness wavered on, and the rain kept falling.
And I walked and walked.
I still don't know where I am going. Back to the hell I came from? Back to the pain of the cutting sun?
I can't feel the warmth of my mind
The world is pitched darkness
It swallows me whole
I don't know how much time I have walked
In this ocean of ice
But my legs are numb now. And my eyes are full of fog
The wind screams, as I walk with no direction
It pushes me forth and back
I don't know where I'm going
But the forest of darkness does
What's something you're guilty of doing as an artist?
For me, I tend to draw most heads angled slightly upwards, regardless of the perspective.
...I also regularly forget how chins work.
on todays episode of osdd/did isn’t glamorous: one alter is singing along to na na na (by mcr) and another alter is singing the similish version of na na na at the same time and it’s making me dissociate
