a/n: i promise this was supposed to be a drabble but i got carried away (:
clarisse was stomping through the camp after capture the flag. everyone was practically jumping out of her way, no one wanting to face her very clear wrath.
by now, everyone knew what had happened right before the blue team won capture the flag. percy, the new kid, and clarisse had been in a pretty heated fight. the ares kids that usually followed clarisse around had backed off, realizing that the fight was a little bit more heated than they anticipated.
percy and clarisse both had a hold on the spear, and when clarisse threw him over her shoulder, the spear had snapped in two.
nobody had seen clarisse this angry in a really long time.
clarisse knew that she hadn't been this angry in a long time. honestly, she couldn't remember the last time she had wanted to rip the world apart half as much as she did right now.
clarisse had spent enough time being forced into therapy by her mother to know that being this angry wasn't good. she was determined, even in her rage-induced haze, to not approach percy jackson right now, because she would only make things worse. yes, she hated the kid more than anything right now, and yes, if the opportunity arose, she would twist his arms right off his body, but again, that would only make things worse.
there was only one person right now who clarisse knew could calm her down enough so that she wouldn't go on a killing spree.

clarisse didn't know exactly where she was, but she had a pretty good idea. if y/n wasn't there already, she would be soon.
clarisse completely bypassed all of the cabins and headed straight for the woods. a few people looked at her in curiosity, but a quick sneer from clarisse got them to mind their own business.
the second clarisse had passed the initial wall of trees into the woods, she took a second to take a deep breath of the pine-scented air. just taking a break from practically stomping through the camp, she felt a lot of the tension in her body relaxed. she was here, she was away from the prying eyes and nosiness of the other campers, and most importantly, she was away from percy jackson.
that was a big step in the right direction.
she looked up and to her right, and caught sight of the first tree. it had a circle carved into it. she walked past it, and a few feet later saw another tree with a circle carved into it.
she followed the trail of circle-carved trees into a clearing that she'd found during her first summer here at camp.
originally, clarisse never planned on sharing this area with anyone. it was only hers. it was her safe place from the world, from all the stresses and anxieties that plagued her day and night, an escape from camp.
the clearing was mostly used as her calm down spot, where she came when she was so angry all she could see was red.
like right now.
but then she met y/n, and at the end of their first summer together, clarisse took her here, and showed it to her. and so now, whenever they needed to, they met up here. to just... be for a few hours.
together.
when clarisse finally pushed past the tall grass that was closing off the clearing, and she stepped foot on the grass that clarisse cut every once in a while, she finally caught sight of y/n.
just seeing her made everything feel as if it was going to be okay.
clarisse felt her muscles relax completely, and all the angry thoughts were quieted as thoughts of her girlfriend climbed into her mind, took root there, and made themselves comfortable.
clarisse was okay with that, because thinking about y/n was much more pleasant than thinking about that punk percy jackson.
clarisse stood there for a few more seconds, admiring y/n. the way the sun shone on her hair. the rings that glittered on her finger, every single one of them gifted to her by clarisse. seeing y/n wear them always made her happy, made her feel like she could climb a mountain and barely break a sweat.
she was sure that she had never loved anyone as much as she loved y/n.
it was at that moment that y/n turned around. at first, there was a slight look of alarm on her face, but it calmed as soon as she realized it was clarisse.
"clarisse," y/n murmured, and just that one utterance of her name felt like a siren's song for clarisse, immediately drawing her to her.
y/n was sitting on one of the large boulders in the clearing, a thin blanket already spread out over the surface of it so she could safely sit on the rock without burning her legs.
y/n stood up, and walked towards clarisse. clarisse took a step closer to her, and then they were right in front of each other, faces just a few inches apart.
"hi," clarisse muttered.
"hi," y/n smiled.
the two looked at each other for a few more seconds, before y/n opened her arms, and clarisse immediately fell into them. clarisse's face buried itself in y/n's neck, and y/n didn't hesitate to start stroking clarisse's hair in the way that she knew she loved. the way her mother had always done when she would get overwhelmed as a kid.
clarisse let out a heavy breath, one that y/n suspected she had been holding for quite some time.
"do you wanna talk about it?" y/n asked quietly.
clarisse shook her head harshly, and then hugged her arms tighter around y/n's waist. "not yet."
"okay." y/n responded.
the two stood there hugging for a few minutes, clarisse's tight hold on y/n never wavering. clarisse's breathing was labored and heavy, and y/n knew it was because she was holding back tears.
clarisse was the kind of person who didn't like to cry. even though y/n knew that there were probably tears glistening in her eyes, clarisse was going to refuse to let them fall, because clarisse was determined to be as tough as possible.
y/n couldn't even begin to imagine the pain clarisse was feeling right now. her spear, the one gift clarisse had from her father, was now snapped in half and unusable. that spear had been clarisse's prized possession, the thing she regarded with utmost love and care, and never allowed anybody but her touch.
there had been one time that clarisse had allowed y/n to hold it for a few minutes, but even then clarisse was anxious at the idea of not being in complete control of it, even for a small amount of time.
y/n had heard clarisse's scream as her and the rest of red team chased after luke with the flag. she had been so close, ever so close, and had run even faster when she heard the scream clarisse let out.
when she stumbled onto the beach and saw the snapped spear, she immediately knew what happened.
y/n didn't stay to find out what happened after that, she just saw the way clarisse stomped off in anger, and she immediately rushed away to get to the clearing, knowing that clarisse would need to be calmed down.
and now the two of you were here, standing in the middle of your clearing, holding each other.
finally, after a long time of just standing there in an embrace, clarisse whispers, "that was the only thing i ever got from my dad,"
y/n pulled away to look at clarisse, and felt the small patch of wetness that clarisse had left behind on her shoulder. "i know, honey," she whispered. she took hold of clarisse's hand and pulled her towards the boulder that she had been sitting on previously.
once the two were sitting, y/n directed clarisse to lay her head in her lap. she began stroking her hair again, and occasionally stroking her cheek.
"i'm so sorry this happened," y/n whispered in clarisse's ear. "i love you,"
"i love you too," clarisse whispered back.
clarisse closed her eyes, wanting to block out the visuals of the world, and focus only on the way y/n's hand felt when it was stroking her hair and her cheek, and the comfort she felt whenever she was in y/n's presence.
she loved this. she loved that she had a person who she knew she was safe with, safe to tell anything to.
clarisse was sure that she had never loved anyone as much as she loved y/n.

a/n: i'm gonna do a part 2 where she's taking care of reader (:
clarisse was freaking out.
a mere five minutes ago, someone from y/n's cabin had approached her, with a nervous look on their face.
clarisse had immediately demanded to know what was wrong, and was disturbed by the feeling in her gut that it had something to do with you.
"uh... it's y/n," the boy muttered. "she's... very sick, and showed up to sword practice. we're trying to get her to go back to the cabin, but she's not listening to any of us, so... we thought maybe you could help?"
that was all clarisse needed to hear to rush towards the sword practice area.
and of course, there she was, swaying on her feet, with a sword in hand.
it looked like she was arguing with another one of her siblings, who was desperately trying to get the sword out of her hand.
clarisse sped up as she crested the hill where sword practice was being held.
y/n flipped around angrily at the sound of footsteps, but the anger dissipated when she saw who it was. a wide smile broke out on her face, causing clarisse to smile despite the fact that she was a little bit upset at the moment.
y/n started walking towards clarisse, but she was unsteady, and tripped over a lumpy patch of grass. in seconds, she was careening towards clarisse, who caught her, thank gods.
"hey baby?" clarisse began gently, her arms wrapping around y/n's waist and pulling their bodies closer together. "are you okay?"
y/n gave clarisse a wide smile as she draped her arms around clarisse's shoulders. "i'm doing great!" her smile turned into a scowl quickly. "except nobody will let me do sword practice!" she rolled her eyes dramatically.
clarisse glanced over her shoulder to the collection of people in the sword fighting area looking at her hopelessly.
y/n laid her head on clarisse's shoulder as she slumped against her body slightly, and clarisse subconsciously leaned her head against hers, beginning to soothingly rub her hand up and down y/n's back. she wasn't sure what to do, not wanting y/n here in the sword fighting area, and just wanting to lay her down in a bed in her cabin.
y/n let out a loud yawn that she tried to muffle against clarisse's shoulder. a few seconds later, y/n started coughing violently, a hacking cough that rattled her whole body.
seeing y/n like that freaked clarisse out even more, and her urgency to get her girlfriend back to her cabin and tucked under some comfy blankets and asleep increased tenfold.
suddenly clarisse had an idea, something that y/n often used on her when she refused to go to bed.
clarisse gently pulled y/n away from where her head had been resting on her shoulder. she smiled softly at the way y/n reluctantly pulled herself away from the comfort of clarisse's shoulder with a small frown.
"hey baby?" clarisse began, catching y/n's attention. "i'm getting kinda tired. do you wanna come lay down with me?"
all the concerned faces surrounding the two immediately relaxed as they realized what clarisse was trying to get y/n to do. one of y/n's siblings began inching herself forward, hands reaching towards the sword still dangling from y/n's fingers.
"you are?" y/n asked, concern immediately taking over her features. "are you okay? you never get tired during the day?"
clarisse had to close her eyes to keep from laughing at the way y/n immediately became concerned about her when she was currently unable to stand.
"i'm fine, baby," clarisse said, making sure she was speaking in soothing tones, unaware of the fact that everybody around them was shocked at hearing clarisse sound so loving and gentle. "i just need a little power nap. do you wanna come lay down with me?" she repeated the question from earlier, with a bit more urgency this time, hoping that y/n would just come with her.
y/n seemed to think for a minute. "i mean... i guess, but... what about sword practice?" her words were practically slurring at this point.
"don't worry about sword practice," your sibling said from behind you. "we've got this all covered, right guys?" everyone immediately started nodding.
it was clear nobody was eager to have a loopy y/n running around swinging a sword, which was fair. clarisse certainly didn't want that either, the fear of y/n possibly hurting others or, gods forbid, herself was too great.
after the all-clear from everyone was given, clarisse turned back to her girlfriend. "see? everyone's gonna be okay for one day without you. it'll be hard, but they'll manage. can you come lay down with me please?"
clarisse engaged the puppy dog eyes she only ever used when trying to get y/n to do something, making sure to lay it on thick as she really just wanted y/n to lay down.
y/n looked at clarisse for a few seconds, clearly falling under the spell of the puppy dog eyes, and then threw her head back dramatically before saying, "alright, let's go you big baby,"
clarisse couldn't hold back the chuckle this time.
"alright, thank you baby," she said, letting go of y/n's waist in favor of holding her hand, hopefully to lead her back to her cabin as quickly as possible.
they ran into a problem rather quickly when y/n began stumbling, and would've hit the ground if it wasn't for clarisse's quick reflexes.
"baby, why are you falling? are you okay?" there was an urgency in clarisse's voice. they were a little bit away from the group of other demigods at this point, but everyone could hear the fear in clarisse's voice.
y/n yawned as she leaned against clarisse. "yeah... i just..." she yawned again. "i took some medicine before i left the cabin, and i thought it was dayquil but it was actually nyquil,"
clarisse closed her eyes for a second to process this information.
"so. you're telling me..." clarisse let out a small chuckle. "you took nyquil, a medicine that makes you fall asleep, and then you went to sword practice?"
y/n scoffed. "you make that sound like it's a bad thing. it's called dedication, actually,"
clarisse closed her eyes again so she could roll them. "okay baby, yeah," she said soothingly. "you're very dedicated, but i still need to lay down, remember? can i carry you?"
y/n rolled her eyes, or at least... it looked that way. clarisse figured it also could be her eyes rolling back into her head, it was becoming increasingly clear just how tired her girlfriend was, seeing as everytime she closed her eyes they stayed closed for a few extra seconds.
clarisse would be worried she was dying if she hadn't just been told that she had taken nyquil before going to sword practice.
y/n nodded eventually, and clarisse didn't hesitate to throw y/n's arm around her shoulder before tucking her arm under her knees and hoisting her up into her hold.
clarisse paused to give y/n a kiss on her hair before taking off for her cabin.
"we're gonna take a nice nap together, and then hopefully when we wake up we'll both feel better," she whispered into her ear.
"yeah," y/n yawned. "that sounds nice,"
everyone back at the sword fighting area looked on the situation with a feeling of curiosity and also confusion, because none of them had ever seen clarisse act this way before. clarisse was known for being brash and mean; they weren't accustomed to this softer side of clarisse, and it was a bit jarring.

a/n: okay so there is a full fledged fic coming of this but i just thought this would be cute for some general clarisse x hecate!daughter!reader content bc i love writing headcanons
okay so first thing's first, this pairing is the definition of opposite's attract
clarisse is just such an intense person, and hecate kiddos are like, famously chill
you probably fell for clarisse first, from afar, because hecate kids and ares kids don't generally run in the same circles
like there's no bad blood or anything, they just aren't very alike so they don't usually hangout
once clarisse did notice you, the two of you started hanging out pretty frequently
there was a period where you both had heart eyes whenever you were near each other, but were both convinced that the other would never like one, and so you were both just practically prancing around each other, doing your best to hide your feelings
(and not really succeeding)
this period was pretty much hell for all of your friends
because the two of you would rave to your mutual friends when the other wasn't there about how much you like each other, and they would just have to sit there and internally scream and hope that you two get together soon
you probably found out when someone accidentally let it slip that you two like each other
after a very long, heartfelt conversation, the two of you were officially dating!
now for the dynamic of your relationship!
clarisse is extremely protective over you
if anyone even looks at you wrong, she's there defending you
you find this really romantic, but sometimes it can get overwhelming because you don't love confrontation, and she does, so sometimes you just want her to leave the situation alone
she can usually tell when you're in this mood, so the two of you just leave the situation before clarisse can get more heated
you're one of the only people that can really calm clarisse down
as previously aforementioned, she's a very intense person, and gets really intense emotions that she doesn't really know how to deal with them, which is something you can help with
just being in your presence calms clarisse down
going back to the protectiveness thing randomly, clarisse always makes sure that hecate cabin is on the same team as ares cabin, and even though everyone knows it's so she can protect you, everyone pretends they don't know
hecate kids obviously participate in capture the flag but they're not the most helpful
so you're not all that bothered when clarisse takes you to a nice, safe place in the woods where she hunts around you to make sure that nobody gets close to you
one time someone from the blue team managed to snag you as a prisoner for the red team, and when clarisse found out she went on a literal rampage
chiron had to step in and tell clarisse to calm down
when blue team finally released you, clarisse just held onto your hand with a really angry look on her face
when you two were alone she finally expressed how nervous she'd been
another big thing to mention: you are clarisse's biggest weakness
she loves and cares about you so much, and as much as she tries to hide it, she kinda can't, so she knows that if anyone were ever trying to get to her, they would go to you first, and she really hates that
there was a time in the beginning of your relationship when clarisse tried to break it off, saying that it wouldn't be safe
and you reminded her that you are also a demigod, and just existing as a demigod isn't safe, so she'd better just get over it
she did, and now the two of you are still together and happy!
clarisse tries to pretend like she has some independence from you, but everyone knows that she doesn't
clarisse gets even more irritable during the winter months because she can't see you everyday like she can during the summer when you're both at camp
clarisse is a year rounder camper, but you aren't, so she always tries to get you to come back for weekends and school breaks
you're always giving clarisse different crystals to help with different things
one of the first things you gave her was a rose quartz necklace, and she practically never takes it off
she rarely ever takes it out from under her shirt because again, she's paranoid about the whole thing of you being her biggest weakness
but it's always there, and she sometimes can be seen holding tightly to it when in tense situations and/or nervous about something
she thinks of it as somewhat of a tether to your love
which sounds cheesy, so don't ever tell anyone clarisse told you that
or else

clarisse is a very touchy partner
she likes to act like she isn't, because she's all tough or whatever
and wanting to be hugged and cuddled every once in a while means that she isn't tough apparently
you've told her a million times this isn't true, but she doesn't believe you
sometimes the two of you will cuddle in front of the campfire, and clarisse is always hesitant because there's so many people around, but all you have to do is bat your eyelashes (and occasionally make grabby hands if she's feeling more stubborn) and then she's there, cuddling with you
when the two of you are alone though... oh my god she will not stop touching you
if you like get up to go to the bathroom she starts complaining immediately about how the two of you were all warm and comfortable and then you had to go and ruin it
she shuts up when you come back though
when you brought clarisse home to meet your mortal parent... let's just say it was an entertaining day
clarisse likes to present herself as a very put together person, and that not much can shake her
but oh dear gods
you're sure that you've never seen her look more nervous than on the way to your mortal parent's house
like sweating and stammering and acting soooo nervous
she wants to make a really good impression, but kinda believes that she can't
it doesn't help that you kiss her in front of your front door to help calm her down, and THAT'S when your parent opens the door
she actually does end up making a good impression, but she still leaves thinking it went horribly
it probably would take a lot of convincing for clarisse to introduce you to her mom, if she ever does, because the two of them aren't on the best terms
basically, the two of you are so freaking in love it kinda disgusts your friends, but it's better now than it was when the two of you were pretending you didn't like each other

bonjour my dear! thank you so much for requesting! mr. d is one of my favorite characters, so i'm really excited to do these.
i think the first and biggest thing i should mention about dionysus kids is: they know how to party.
i mean, their dad is literally the god of wine
of course they're gonna be the definition of party animals
wherever there's a party, they're always the life of it
they're rarely ever the ones to start the party because they tend to be rather scatterbrained and don't have the attention span to plan a party, but they love attending them
they love attending parties
dionysus kids are the definition of heavyweights
it takes a lot to get them drunk
like they can get buzzed and tipsy or whatever but it takes a lot for them to become actually drunk
they know how to have fun sober, though, trust me
dionysus kids are very festive souls
they love holidays, any holidays, and go above and beyond decorating for them and getting everyone and themselves in the real feel of the holiday
they love halloween because you can go all out for decorations
they love christmas for the same reason
a random thing to note; dionysus kids have a special affinity for grape flavored things
grape flavored candy, grape flavored drinks, you name it, and dionysus kids are all over it
they also love fruit
their dad is the god of fruit and orchards, so they're a big fan of it
of course, grapes are their favorite
dionysus kids really love raisins, too
they're just dried grapes, so they find the flavor pleasant enough
there are definitely dionysus kids who don't love raisins, but most dionysus kids will eat them if there's nothing else to snack on
this is one of those things that everybody else in camp judges them for, but they get to enjoy raisins with each other so it's okay
dionysus is also the god of vegetation, so dionysus kids also tend to like veggies more than the average kid
dionysus kids like veggies as toddlers, which is a big sign to them being a dionysus kid
like, they'll even devour broccoli
anyways
another thing about dionysus kids is that they generally have a pretty good relationship with their dad
he is the camp director, so they see him a lot more than the average half-blood sees their godly parent, but dionysus also generally builds relationships with his kids, so they get close, and they have good relationships
dionysus also doesn't like having lots of kids, he doesn't like being too outnumbered, so there's never too many dionysus kids in the cabin at once
this makes it easier for him to create lasting relationships and makes it easier to bond with them individually
i know mr. d was kinda an asshole to percy but i do headcanon him as a pretty good dad
because there's not usually an abundance of dionysus kids that also means that they get really close with each other
dionysus kids are each other's ride or dies
they consider each other their best friends
there's never usually more than 4 in the cabin at once so it's like a little friend group, except you all have the same dad!
so fun fact
dionysus is also the god of insanity and ritual madness
this does come across in dionysus kids, unfortunately
dionysus kids can go fucking insane sometimes

never cheat on a dionysus kid

all dionysus kids know before he cheats by heart because they've sung it at the top of their lungs in their cars after getting cheated on for the first time
and then they've gotten revenge

i can't legally go into the details (aka i'm too tired to come up with the details) but please never do it
if not for the sake of the dionysus kid heart you're breaking but for your own
dionysus kids are also generally really gifted actors
dionysus is the god of theatre, and since he has a passion for it, he likes to pass that passion down to his kids
there's a sort of drama club within camp half-blood
(founded by dionysus kids and heavily supported by the camp director of course)
they like to put on shakespeare because it's very greek tragedy-esque, but usually without the actual greek tragedy
also whenever there's a sword fight, it's easy to perform and choreograph because they're already being trained in swordsmanship, so they already have that skill (or at least know how to handle a sword without decapitating themselves)
dionysus kids like to think shakespeare was a dionysus kid
mr. d will neither confirm nor deny
(but the glint in his eyes whenever you bring it up leans more towards the affirmative)
randomly going back to them being heavyweights thing, even if they do get drunk, it's rare for a dionysus kid to get a hangover
which is something they endlessly brag about to other campers
"oh, it's weird that i eat raisins? well, i don't get hangovers so suck it"
dionysus kids also have a hilarious sense of humor
like these kids are really funny
their sense of humor consists of a lot of sarcasm and teasing and stuff like that
they can be really annoying as older siblings and younger siblings
a lot of "why are you hitting yourself? why are you hitting yourself?" copying, and other stuff like that
basically, dionysus kids are super cool and crazy and chaotic, but they're hard not to love
it's also pretty nice being friends with a dionysus kid because they can get you out of trouble with their dad if what you did was pretty mild and they ask really nicely
they're also just so freaking fun at parties that it's so nice having them around
consider yourself lucky if you're a friend of a dionysus kid

My hc is that they can be either very chill like typical calm surf kids and super relaxed (like calm and relaxing waves” or unhinged af like chaotic, super fun in a bit of crazy way and overall more energetic and like yeah unhinged (like Percy). i totally agree with you that there are two ways a poseidon kid can turn out
1) totally chaotic (percy)
2) totally chill surfer kid
there are a few people who are a mix of chaotic and surfer, which makes them actually really fun to surf with, but only perodically, because while surfing with them is fun it can also be kinda scary at times
continuing on with water sports
poseidon kids are naturally really good at any and all watersports
they can often be found as the captains of swim teams
and very good at waterskiing and waterboarding
a go-to job for a poseidon kid is lifeguard as well, obviously
poseidon kids also don't eat seafood
some people find this confusing and some people find this obvious, i personally think it's obvious
it's because they can understand what fish are saying, so they don't like eating them
if you ask them why that bothers them, they'll say "you know what people are saying, would you eat them?"
not the most sound logic, but they're not exactly known for that
all poseidon kids have natural beach waves
poseidon himself definitely has beachy wavy hair, and he definitely passes that onto his kids
just like hecate and athena pass on their eye color to their kids, poseidon passes on his hair
poseidon kids are hardly ever seen wearing shoes unless it's absolutely necessary
they just naturally feel more comfortable barefoot

little beach creatures always manage to find their way to them
like you'll look away from a poseidon kid at the beach for about two seconds, and look back, and they have a little crab in their hand
sometimes they can look a little crazy, because they'll start having conversations with these little creatures
another thing about the beach with poseidon kids:
yknow the thing where whenever you leave the beach, you have sand just everywhere
they don't
it's something to be genuinely envious of when it comes to poseidon kids
like, they'll shake out their towel and there will be no sand on it, and then it's just done
it's definitely magic, a gift from their godly father
poseidon kids also hate aquariums
most aquariums don't treat the fish like they need to be treated, so going to an aquarium is kind of traumatic for a poseidon kid, because they can understand what the fish are saying
a kind of universal traumatic event for any poseidon kid is going to an aquarium on a field trip in elementary school (not yet aware that they're the child of poseidon) and hearing the fishes beg for help to be liberated from the prison they were being kept in
and when they got to the touch tank, hearing the fish beg to not be touched, things like that
like any and all poseidon kids ran around ripping everyone's hands out of the water, begging them to stop touching the fishes because they didn't like it
needless to say they got picked up early that day
poseidon kids also tan really easily
like, they'll fully walk past a sunny window and get tan
like for the full summer season, they're tan
they also stay tan for a really long time, so they're honestly still tan into like spooky season
poseidon kids are also very good at throwing parties
it's their chaotic side
they know where and how to get the best decorations, where the best spot to set everything up is
(and where to get good alcohol without getting caught, but you didn't hear that from me)
poseidon kids are the definition of horse people
not all horse people are children of poseidon but all children of poseidon are horse people
not in a cringy way, either, they just connect with horses more than any other animal, which makes sense because they can hear them and can have real relationships and conversations with them
they do often look a little bit crazy if they're seen at the stables fully having a conversation with horses
if they return to the stable where their horse is kept after spending all summer at camp, they'll go around catching up with all the other horses
they're also naturally skilled at riding horses
like if i jumped on a horse right now, i would fall off and die because i've never done it before and horse riding is a skill (according to the sims 4)
poseidon kids could go literally their whole life without riding a horse, and then jump on one during a quest and ride perfectly
the favorite movie genre of poseidon kids is also westerns, because they generally have horses in those movies, and they can understand their neighs
they think it's hilarious when a horse makes fun of the actor in the movie but no one but them can tell because they can understand what they're saying and no one else can
they look like crazy people watching westerns
at the camp movie nights, whenever it's poseidon cabin's turn to pick the movie, they pick a western, and are laughing at the most inappropriate times in the movie, because the horse just neighed in the background and he was making fun of the actor guys! the horse thinks this makes as much sense as we do, trust me, he has a really good sense of humor
going back to the aquarium thing a little bit, poseidon kids are also not a huge fan of zoos
this is because they can understand zebras, and zoo animals are also not treated the best
sometimes they're treated better than aquarium animals, but poseidon kids are always hesitant to go to the zoo, or just any place where you go and look at animals of any kind for fun
they can't help but think how they would feel if they were in that position
so basically poseidon kids have the hugest hearts ever
and they're very brave as well
and basically the coolest ever
you should probably be friends with a poseidon kid... if you're not already

so hephaestus kids are cool but kinda chaotic
their minds run a mile a minute
they always have new ideas for things to make on their mind, and things to invent
they just always have a lot of ideas
hephaestus kids do very good in prank wars, because they're very good at rigging up things like buckets of water falling on you when you open a door
another one of their favorite pranks is putting a mento in the cap of a coke and then attaching a string, so that when you open it, the mento falls into the coke and does the foamy thing
so moral of the story, if you can, avoid getting into a prank war with a hephaestus kid
hephaestus kids also come up with the best nicknames for people
a hephaestus kid will spend some time with you, gauge your personality and the things you do, and then they give you a nickname
it's rarely ever a malicious one (or you're a mean person, then you get a bad nickname), it's usually one that fits you that you actually really like
so in my athena cabin hcs i said that they expanded the arts and crafts area, and yes, athena kids are the ones who frequent this area the most, but you'd better believe hephaestus kids are hanging around there as well
they love making things with their hands, and even though they specialize when it comes to mechanical things and working with metal, every one in a while they want to make a pipe cleaner butterfly
beckendorf was really good at origami butterflies
so after they died, everyone made an origami butterfly, and they put a framed picture of him up on the wall, and then surrounded it with origami butterflies (rip)
anyways, moving on
the hephaestus cabin is always just about a bajillion degrees
IT IS ALWAYS SO HOT IN THERE
and even though not all hephaestus kids have the fire power that leo does, they are all less susceptible to heat
i mean, they have to be around heat a lot when they're forging weapons, so naturally, it doesn't affect them as much as it affects others
literally, if you have a friend and the two of you want to hangout, you will literally never be hanging out in the hephaestus cabin, because you will literally melt
(not literally, but you'll just be sweating like a pig the whole time)
hephaestus kids also always make the best marshmallows at the campfire
i mean, come on
they forge amazing weapons, and work with fire on practically a daily basis, of course they roast the perfect marshmallow
if you have a very specific amount of roasted-ness in mind, just tell a hephaestus kid, and there you go, your perfect mallow
the hephaestus cabin also has quite a few retro items, such as cd players and record players
but they're not... exactly like they should be
hephaestus kids like to take these older items and make them more usable and modern
so there are some funky looking record players in the hephaestus cabin
they just like experimenting on things like that
the hephaestus kids also set up a sort of PA system for the camp
this was sanctioned by chiron, but they don't really listen to what he says about it
they play a lot of music, and yes, they do announce things, but there's often some comedy thrown in there
hephaestus kids are actually really funny
like they could honestly be full on comedians
they just have a sort of dry sense of humor, and really good timing, which is like half of being funny
hephaestus kids are also all really close
like when you're a hephaestus kid, your best friends are your siblings that you live with in your cabin
there are always a few typical older siblings that are the oldest in the cabin, usually the head camper of that cabin and a few others that you always know you can go to when you need it
hephaestus kids are also have the least drama
i mean, camp half-blood is filled with teenagers going through puberty, having first crushes and first relationships, that kinda stuff
of course there's gonna be drama
the hephaestus kids just somehow have less
this is partially because they always find themselves focused on things other than who kissed who and who cheated on who and why they did what
they have armor and weapons to make, dude, they can't be focused on that
that's not to say that there isn't drama with hephaestus kids, it's just a lot less common
and whenever you hear something regarding a hephaestus kid in drama, you kinda are taken aback and are like... wait what?
most hephaestus kids' love language is gift giving, and that mostly consists of things made by said hephaestus kid
like, oh you mentioned you wanted to start wearing rings more?
for your birthday, you find a package of like fifty, all different and interesting and unique, with perfect craftsmanship with the name of a hephaestus kid on it
sometimes they collaborate with the hecate kids to put crystals in the jewelry they make (because of course they make jewelry
hephaestus kids are almost never seen not wearing at least one piece of jewelry, made by themselves or their siblings
one head camper of hephaestus cabin like a decade ago taught themselves how to give piercings, and now every head hephaestus camper knows how to give piercings
obviously no hephaestus kid is forced to get a piercing, but most of them are
most of them have their ears pierced at the very least, but it's not uncommon to see a few people with snake bites floating around
chiron, the most innocent ever, has no idea where people are getting pierced, and has asked around, but nobody wants to rat out hephaestus cabin, because it's really convenient
idk i kinda imagine hephaestus kids as a little bit alt

an important thing about hypnos kids is that they can nap dude
like, if they have a hard day, and come home and fall asleep, expect them to be out for at least a couple hours
they always joke that it's because they need their beauty sleep, but really they just like sleeping more than the average person
it's like those tiktoks people post where they're like "anything that goes wrong i need to take a nap"

hypnos kids are the best at sleepovers
like yes obviously they sleep a ton at them, but also they have lots of fun at them!
they know all the best sleepover movies to watch
and can make the absolute BEST popcorn
hypnos kids have a real talent for that
(that actually has nothing to do with being a hypnos kid, they just have what they like to call a "family recipe" that's only shared with hypnos kids)
they also make really good blanket forts, they make them really comfortable

another weird thing about hypnos kids is that they can fall asleep anywhere

it really is a skill that they are born with and possess, and it's the kind of thing that the other kids envy, because when they're busy staying up all night with anxiety, the hypnos kids are snoozing away because that's just in their nature
hypnos kids were also the kind of babies that slept a lot
like they slept enough that their mortal parents started worrying if they were dead
(ik that's dark but i just think it would be funny for like a mortal mother to start freaking out about her baby being dead only for the baby to wake up and start cooing and then that baby later finding out that their father is hypnos)
they're just the kind of people that like, no matter where they are or what they're doing, they'll just make themselves comfortable and fall asleep
hypnos cabin is also a really comfortable place
lots of mood lighting, and really plushy and comfortable beds
like some of the other cabins have the kind of beds that you would expect from a summer camp
not hypnos cabin
hypnos himself makes sure that his cabin has enough of the most comfortable mattresses known to man because no way is he letting his kids sleep in squalor
(squalor = the standard camp beds that hypnos kids consider to be like laying on beds of cement)
hypnos kids also have a semi-okay relationship with their dad
they talk to him more often than other demigod kids talk to their godly parents, mostly because they sometimes see him in their sleep
i honestly headcanon hypnos to be kind of a good dad
like every once in a while when his kids are sleeping he'll check in with them and ask how they're doing, how they're feeling with everything
it's also pretty handy to be a child of hypnos on a quest, because they can sense when danger is coming while they're sleeping
it's a thing their dad does for them
hypnos kids can also put other people to sleep
depending on the power of the hypnos kid, they can put them to sleep for different amounts of time
as in, a hypnos kid with less of this power can't make someone sleep for as long as a hypnos kid with a stronger power
it's kind of a thing at camp for someone who struggles to fall asleep for whatever reason to go to a hypnos kid to help them fall asleep if they really need to
they just kinda touch your head and whisper a few soothing words to you and then you're OUT
this kinda thing can only be done by a pretty outgoing hypnos kid because this... experience can get really awkward really quickly
hypnos kids are generally pretty chill people
they always seem like they're walking around, somewhat in a haze... the kind of haze you're in when you just wake up
which makes sense because that's their general state
but just in general, hypnos kids are really cool, and their cabin is the prime spot for a sleepover since everything they do is comfort coded
if hypnos kids aren't comfortable, they're monsters
it's like being hangry but with being comfortable
it's honestly kinda funny
one final random headcanon about hypnos kids:
they SUCK at combat/fighting
just because they get tired so quickly
like they can barely get through a full day without a nap, and still fall asleep at 10 every night, so having to fight with like swords and fists and stuff is just so not their forte
like not that they can't, there are definitely hypnos kids that are skilled with a sword, but generally even if they are they don't choose to hone that skill
because it's just so much work
