Transcribing my favourite Chimera Squad conversations, pt. 9 (Rescue Outspoken D.J., Encounter 3)
Floyd Tesseract: Always knew XCOM would come for me. Didn't see it going down like this.
Whisper: Holy crap, it's Floyd Tesseract!
Godmother: Great. This guy.
Floyd Tesseract: I'm just as underwhelmed.
~
Torque: Oh no. We preemptively lost the hostage. There was nothing we could have done.
Floyd Tesseract: That's what I expected from XCOM.
~
Claymore: The sectoid prepper?
Floyd Tesseract: I prepare you against future indoctrination.
~
Patchwork: The ranty guy? I expected more spittle at the corners of his mouth.
Floyd Tesseract: Preposterous. I posess no natural oral lubricant.
~
Blueblood: The conspiracy theorist?
Floyd Tesseract: Oh, they aren't theories.
~
Axiom: Don't care. You move when we say.
Floyd Tesseract: Story of my life.
~
Zephyr: I thought he'd be taller.
Floyd Tesseract: You could say I'm a late bloomer.
~
Shelter: The angry man? Who thinks everything is linked to... Everything else?
Floyd Tesseract: Oh, but it is.
~
Verge: "Floyd". You were just as insufferable during the invasion.
Floyd Tesseract: "Verge". You were just as self-righteous.
~
Terminal: Oh, wow! I am the biggest fan of your show.
Floyd Tesseract: No autographs in a combat zone.
~
Cherub: The guy from You Should Have Believed?
Floyd Tesseract: You don't fit my demographic.
Cherub: Darn it.
Floyd Tesseract: But demographics are a lie built to justify short-term decision-making.
Cherub: Hooray?
Whisper: Mr. Tesseract? We need to get you out of there.
Floyd Tesseract: I know the drill. I devised the drill. Head down, follow orders, keep living.
Floyd Tesseract: Old habits die hard.
i refuse to accept a world without terminal snake shenanigans
More fun snek girl facts: Torque can use her tongue pull ability on allies as well as enemies, which can make for some very useful mobility. Terminal in particular loves it; she'll shout "Wheeeee, again!" While, you know, in the middle of a raid against heavily armed organized criminals.
"snake woman can pull ppl around with her tongue including allies" is not something I expected to read and for sure wasn't expecting the "im gonna be dead soon like my family lol gonna go out fighting" medic gal to treat the mid-combat tongue yoinking like a carnival ride.
That's so cute tho. Local venomous snek girl also gives tongue hugs <3 deadly or otherwise <3 <3
Have I mentioned that I love this fucking game and its characters
Transcribing my favourite Chimera Squad conversations, pt. 4 (Investigating Grey Phoenix Last, Encounter 3)
Whisper: You're nearing the vertipad. Don't let Grey Phoenix escape with those elerium cores! Terminal: What the heck is a "vertipad"? Whisper: A landing pad for vertical takeoff craft? Like the transport. On the vertipad. Terminal: Who calls it that? Axiom, grinning: Everybody? Terminal: Fine, fine. To the vertipad! Terminal, sulking: Still sounds dumb.
I love how they both smile as they give these responses
Like Axiom feels it's more respectable to be an initial invader than to be some ADVENT rando, which is fair, there's a bit more prestige and novelty to being among the first aliens on earth
And then Verge is proud of making himself sound like a much more combative person than he actually is 😭 "I fought everyone" why is he so adorable
Transcribing my favourite Chimera Squad conversations, pt. 11 (Verge as an Invader)
Godmother: The parts of your dossier that aren't sealed suggest you had a role in the 2015 invasion. Verge: I know you ask. But you do not want to know. Godmother: Just tell me this. Did you regret it? Any of it. Verge: Why do you think my dossier is sealed? Godmother: That's not an answer. Verge: It is not the answer you want. But it is the answer that is best for us both.
~
Terminal: I know you don't talk about the invasion, but... what about after? Were you some kind of interrogator? Verge: Not at first. I was assigned to a scientist with broad popular appeal. Terminal: What did you do? Verge: I ensured he spoke of our arrival in a positive light. Emphasized the benefits of bowing down to the Elders. Terminal: That's kinda gross. Verge: If we failed, Plan B was to purge the planet of all sentient life. Terminal: Verge, you're a gross hero. Verge: Not from that. "Less wrong" is still wrong. I accept that now.
