Deciphering Letters
Her fan waved back and forth at a rapid pace, the spring humidity getting the better of the soon to be Duchess. She let out an exhausted sigh, wanting to go back inside. But alas she couldn't. Granted there was no one stopping her but the smell of new paint was causing her to have such a migraine. She escaped the fumes and retreated out into the gardens, far away from the retched stench.
"I can not wait until the manor has it's former floral scent once again. It could take years with all the layers of paint on the walls!", she said aloud, her voice escalating in tone as she reached the end of her sentence, not having a care in the world should anyone hear her.
Anna wanted to take off her dress and damned corset, taking a dip int the lake nearby but heaven forbid should anyone see such a sight. Her fiance' and sister would simply have a cow at the indecency displayed for the world to see. So instead she suffered in silence out in the gazebo, trying to get some much need cool air.
In the bare silence, she began to let her thoughts take her to the future. She would be getting married soon, to a man she detested more than anything. Who saw her as nothing more than an object to place upon a high shelf where no one could touch it but him. The shelf would not be too high though on a count of he was quite short in size.
As her thoughts jumbled about in her mind, she heard a voice call out to her and Anna turned, seeing a maid hurrying towards her. "My lady, you have received a letter." Anna blinked in surprise. "Really?" She never received anything. She didn't really have any friends who would be writing to her. Maybe it was her fiance' reminding her not to go out and about in town...again.
With a roll of her eyes at the thought, Anna thanked the maid and glanced over the name. Vanessa. It was unfamiliar to her, having not met that many people, she would remember a name like this. Shaking her head she tore open the seal and began to read the letter, curious as to what exactly the lady had to say.
