I don't know what it says about me that I have more F1 bookmarks than any other fandom, but that the 'pining' tag (and variations thereof) only have 1.5/7 pages worth of F1 fics. But here we go:

I'm gonna start off by saying omegaverse is not really a tag that I seek out, but it's a glasscushion special so you know it's gonna be good. Despite the premise, it feels very grounded and solid - it's a non-famous AU and I think you may enjoy it even if you don't know the characters, and it's definitely heavy on the mutual pining. It's a very visceral, very damp fic, a dense and permeating sense of teenage- and early-twenties endless summer. Feels like a Mountain Goats song in that respect. One of the most fics of all time.

Yet another author I adore, and this is a fun one. From my bookmark notes: Jim, lamenting his inability to pursue personal relationships due to being Captain of the Enterprise and under Starfleet's fraternisation rules, believes he's found a loophole that allows him to sleep with his CMO. Leonard, however, wants something more. Good if you like a side of idiots in love with your pining.

My absolute favourite DNDHAT fic, I don't know how many times I've read this. Canon divergence AU that diverges slightly before the events of the film - Xenk is sent to retrieve Edgin from prison to aid in a desperate mission, and has been instructed to use binding magic to keep Edgin tethered close to him. Slowly a prickly and defensive Edgin, and a just-following-instructions-for-the-greater-good Xenk grow to trust each other. This one hits on all the fun tropes - pining, sharing a bed, wound tending, huddling for warmth, enemies to friends to lovers - whilst never feeling samey.

Did anyone order a tearjerker (with a happy ending)? This one's a Time Traveller's Wife AU: Jim can travel back and forth along Spock's timeline, albeit briefly and uncontrollably. Along the way, they fall in love. Many emotions, will rip your heart out, tear it to shreds, and then stick it back together.

And one I thought you may especially enjoy the premise of: an android AU! Lando's new personal trainer is an android (Oscar) and he's not best pleased at first, but over time they learn to work together. Tags include pining, unrequited love, not actually unrequited love, angst with a happy ending, and looking up the comment I left, I described a certain scene as "definitely some of the hottest robotfucking I've ever read," so consider that a recommendation!
