@xephtastic Another important thing about Taurece is that she isn't really the hero of the story
She's the narrator, like Nick to Gatsby
(Sharif is Gatsby in this metaphor)
But Taurece is at a more mutable time in her life and changes more

character thing: taurece <3
I was hoping you’d ask about one of the novel characters!
1. Practicality. Her first priority is whether she has food on her plate and somewhere to live. Clothing comes second, and that’s where she’ll be a little less straightforward and buy something she thinks is pretty. This practicality extends to her interactions with the people on the migration caravan (a walking source of food/shelter), which she treats primarily as business interactions in which she has no stake.
2. Regret. She looks backward a lot more than forward and doesn’t really plan for the future, and often, quietly and without angst, regrets her actions as she performs them. She’s trying to quit smoking.
3. Taurece makes friends with outsiders. She considers herself one, but has also always had a support group and isn’t anti-social, just hard-edged. She can give the cold shoulder to a roomful of people, but you’ll find her outside buying coffee for someone who looks lost. That’s part of why she takes it really personal when, near the beginning of the story, the plot basically outright tells her it’s not about her. She spends the rest of the book trying to figure that out.

nem, your darth maul commentary is literally my favourite ever. your understanding of his character is so in-depth and insightful and wonderful and i love reading what you have to say. nem. more please. (also!! i want this comic you're reading?? how to get??)
<3 I’m glad that I can still riff on him after all this time. The comic is “Son of Dathomir,” published by Dark Horse. There are 3 issues out right now, but I have no idea how easy or hard they are to find outside of the United States. I recommend the Dark Horse website!
it’s time to tell some of your favorite blogs that you acknowledge, and appreciate their work; let them know that you love them. spread the love to 10 of your favorite blogs, and if you don’t have 10, then just spread it to the next 10 on your dash! ♥ (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Thank you Xeph! <3

You are not trash. Not even close. Please don’t allow anyone to call you that, even yourself. You are so, so important. Please don’t disregard your worth. <3
I'm just feeling really isolated and lonely and I'm trapped here and it's only going to get worse
And I just keep feeling worse and worse
