Rare Jaguar XJ-S V12 Lynx Eventer for auction
Car & Classic (the online auction specialist) is auctioning off a very rare and iconic Jaguar - one of very few Lynx Motors-built XJ-S shooting brakes. The unmolested, completely original XJ-S V12 Lynx Eventer is part of a very exclusive club, as only 67 brand new Jaguar XJ-Ss were converted by Hastings-based coachbuilder Lynx Motors in the early Eighties, and all to customer specifications, so no two ones are the same.
Supplied new by Appleyard of Harrogate, this Jaguar XJ-S Eventer in Racing Green has covered fewer than 100 miles in the past eight years and seems to have lived a sheltered life, below the classic car community’s radar until now. It is offered for auction complete with build sheet, conversion certificate and substantial service history. Like the other Lynx Motors Eventers, this XJ-S (no. 11 of 67) was given a new roof, new glass area, rear body panels and internal modifications to move the back seats allowing for more legroom. Rear suspension was stiffened to cope with the extra weight and proportions, and the fuel tank was relocated. The conversion gave the car its typical station-wagon looks and practicality.
The unrestored coach-built example has a mere 45,000 miles on the clock and is a completely unrestored, original example of on oif the stranger incarnations of the XJ-S. The auction will close on the 17th of July.
