7.) Who is the one who makes their partner laugh so much that their face hurts ?

Scorbus

For me, it’s definitely Scorpius !! I feel for Albus it takes a lot to make him laugh where it physically hurts and for a while it takes a lot for him to genuinely laugh full stop but when Scorpius is around, he laughs a lot more ! Whether it be due to a joke Scorpius has come out with or his obliviousness to a certain situation (don’t even know if that’s a word oops), he always seems to make Albus laugh ! One headcanon that popped to mind is Albus finding himself cry laughing, his cheeks hurting after Scorpius comes to the realisation that Yann had a crush on him in the dark au 😉

5.) Would they much rather go on a romantic date or a laid back date ? Explain why.

Drastoria

Okay so with Drastoria I feel it’s definitely more laid back dates where they go to art galleries or history museums or have picnics under the stars (shout out to my date headcanons I posted last week). That being said at the beginning of their relationship I can definitely see more romantic dates to fancy restaurants and the such because Draco would want the best for Astoria but over time they stop and stick to the simpler, more remeberable types of dates such as what’s mentioned above. Draco learns that the expense of something doesn’t buy the memeories, just being with each other, wherever that may be or whatever they may do is worth so much more than a fancy meal !

8.) How would each of them explain how they met?

Yann/Scorpion King

Okay so I had to do a bit of thinking for this one but here’s what came to me ! I feel like Yann would explain their first meeting to be just like a general meeting as they shared a class together but he always remembers getting lost in Scorpius’ eyes. He remembers thinking how unique they looked, grey from a far but once he was close they were this piercing ocean blue that sucked Yann in. For the Scorpion King, I feel it would be very different. He doesn’t remember meeting Yann for the first time because quite frankly, he didn’t pay that close attention. The first time he remembers meeting/seeing Yann was his first Quidditch game for Slytherin. He remembers seeing Yann make a save and thinking “wow he’s good” and after that he kept a closer eye on him. It wasn’t until he was partnered with him for a project did he take in how attractive Yann was.

Writery questions coming up! What originally inspired you to write Solstice, if there was anything in particular? Has it gone according to your plan/original expectations or have you changed bits as you've gone alone? Who is your favourite character to write (either in Solstice or in general)? Also, as a bonus, can you share one of your favourite lines of one of your WIPs? 👀

ahh thank you so much for the questions!! 

so the original inspiration behind Solstice was actually the book One Day by David Nicholls - if you don’t know it, the whole story is told through snippets from the same day every year (st swithun’s day, 15th july) so you get to see the two main characters’ relationship evolve over decades. i’ve only actually read it once (and seen the film, which is much worse than the book unfortunately) and it’s not one of my all-time faves really, but i was thinking about it one day (ha) last year and thought it was a fun timeline concept, and i started wondering if i could write something similar, because i wanted to attempt a longer multi-chapter project. 

the plot kind of developed around the timeline in a way? i decided on two days instead of just one, the summer and winter solstices, and i knew that i wanted it to focus on scorpius and albus leaving school, and then the length of the time period it would cover sort of led me to developing the main plot arc (which i am being deliberately vague about because spoilers), and then i also knew that i wanted to explore some of the characters i’d included in A.P.H.L.A, my previous multi-chapter, so it all kind of slotted into place from there! 

it’s gone mostly to plan so far, i think? but also i didn’t have an incredibly detailed plan before i started, only for the first third or so (it kind of divides naturally into three ‘acts’). i write and then flesh out the next chunk of plot sort of simultaneously and so far things have stayed broadly on track, the only things that have changed are fairly minor! 

i think my favourite character to write is probably scorpius - so original, i know - right now because i find his POV a bit more natural, and right now the part of Solstice i’m writing has some really good development of his character which i’m enjoying exploring! though i also have an oc in Solstice called Rafe who is very fun to write, and quite different in his mannerisms and motivations to a lot of the other characters.

favourite line is so hard omg! there are a lot to choose from in Solstice given its current wordcount. i’ve spent ages going through various chapters; there’s a paragraph i really like at the end of chapter 6 but it’s too spoilery to share! so instead have a silly one - this is a very drunk James Sirius coming over to bother Scorpius at a party: 

At quarter to, James wandered over and sank into the chair next to Scorpius. ‘Yo, S. S-Man. Scorpy-boy. The Scorpion.’ 

‘Hello,’ Scorpius said warily.

oh hello! 👀 plz tell me more about the Scorbus film night fic - I reeeeally want to know what kind of movies and snacks these boys line up!!

Hello my lovely, I will of course tell you more !

So basically this is a very old, almost forgotten wip wintol I found it today ! It’s been a long time since I’ve worked on it but basically what it entails is Albus and Scorpius having their long awaited movie night ! Due to work it’s been a long time coming but it’s finally come around !! Scorpius has picked (yet again) another Disney movie (Toy Story 4 to be exact) and Albus is acting like he’s sick of watching Disney movies and he “doesn’t like them” !

That’s as far as I’ve gotten so far but I plan to have Albus act like he doesn’t care but by the end he’s fully invested and crying (that ending thiugh would cause anyone to shed a tear) !!

I like to think when it’s Scorpius’ turn to pick a movie it is always Disney and when it’s Albus’ turn it’s usually something more down the action route (maybe marvel ??) ! They have all types of treats ! Crisps, chocolate, jellies, popcorn you name it !! I don’t have any plans to finish it anytime soon but some day I’ll definitely get around to it !!

6. What’s the last thing you read that made you laugh?

well there’s this excellent scorbusfest fic i am reading at the moment called Turning Circles, a muggle au about ice skater/hockey player scorbus, and the author (@xpectopatronerd, what a coincidence!) is quite brilliant at funny one-liners! i don’t want to spoil but there were some very chuckle-worthy parts in the latest chapter i read this morning :)

7. What’s the last thing you read that made you cry?

actual harry potter :( i’m coming up to the end of my reread (i’ve not reread the full 7 books in years) and just had the bit where harry goes to visit his parents’ graves in godric’s hollow. he cried, hermione cried, i cried. 

18. Do you have a fic reading/writing routine?

not so much for reading, but for writing i pretty much always have to change into my comfiest leggings and jumper, put my hair up so it’s not getting in my face and distracting me, settle down on my bed and then put on some kind of instrumental music (right now it’s disney theme park queue/area loops because i’m just cool like that), and that usually gets me in the writing zone!

19. What’s your favorite character headcanon?

i really love librarian scorpius! i think throughout the play he’s just consistently a giant nerd about books and i love the idea that that’s something he’d pursue after he left school.

Albus nodded, scooping a portion of peppermint roots off his cutting board and into the cauldron. ‘Could have been anyone, Lily had no idea.’

Everything was moving in slow motion; Scorpius’s thoughts seemed to arrive with a screeching of brakes and a cold, hard slam into consciousness.

Albus tilted the photo back and forth and watched it reflect the wan electric ceiling light in his room. It was always odd, seeing Muggle photos where the people didn’t move, like they were frozen in time.

Scorpius turned back to face the thestral, his hand still resting on the dark, leathery skin of its neck. ‘Mmm,’ he said after a few seconds, ‘It’s just been quite an unpleasant morning.’

Being friends with Albus meant being almost half-adopted into his family sometimes, and having James stroll past their table at breakfast to stop for a chat, or greet him with cheesy puns in the corridors between classes had always been guaranteed to improve his mood.

Scorpius slid into the seat next to Albus on the opposite side of the booth to Oswald and James, and cupped his hands around his butterbeer for warmth. ‘Quite good, thanks. I finished my Potions essay before lunch, the one about the effects of different types of mint in anti-yawning solutions.’

- snack

Albus sat back and let their voices wash over him as they passed snacks and drinks back and forth.

‘My family has always been about power, and status,’ Scorpius began. The tea in his mug was going cold.

‘You weren’t at dinner.’ Rafe pushed past Albus and into his room.

5.) Share one of your strengths

Ehm this is tough for me as I am not one to be able to compliment themselves or spot their strengths so I’ve had to do a little think for this but one I think (??) is a strength is my ability to write fast ??? I have found recently that I am very capable to write a 4000 word oneshot or a long chapter of a fic very fast. I have been able to sit and write a complete oneshot in less than an hour before so maybe that ?? I don’t know if that is considered a strength but it’s something I think is a positive when it comes to my writing experience

29.) If you could write a sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

This is such an interesting question and was really fun to think about but I think I’d have to go with Wildcard by parseltonquinq ! It is my favourite fic and just includes everything I love, a scorbus muggle au where they play football !! I’ve always wanted to write a football au and I would looove to dive into the world the author has made in wildcard as it’s truly so captivating and the characterisation of the characters (especially Scorbus) is just sooooo good !!
