Some people think that the cape Jon is wearing in S7 is the cape Sansa made for him in S6. I had to go back and check, and I have to say its not.
1. The fox furs head is on Jon’s left in S6. In S7 its on the right side.
2. The fabric of the cape seems to be a damask pattern, almost crushed or burn-out velvet, if you turn the contrast up in S6. In S7 the fabric looks to have a more boxey, woven pattern in the fabric. Less damask-y and more of a rigid pattern.
3. The fur lining on the edges. There is no fur on the body of the cape in S6, and now there is fur around the edges in S7, not the inside.
4. The Very Important™ direwolf stamping into the leather straps. Its very visible in S6, and it is gone in S7. (replaced by tiny holes and tbh I have no idea what those are for)
There was a new costume designer for S6, April Ferry, but Michelle Clapton apparently came back for 6.09 and 6.10. So I am to assume she was in charge of the matching cloaks and Sansa’s gorgeous teal velvet direwolf dress.
The cloak is important for Jon’s story - as I said in my last post. Even the costume designers stress its significance. Its also not impossible to assume Sansa made Jon a new cloak for him to wear in winter, but the one he is wearing now is not the same one she made at Castle Black.
