Yahir - Blood of Ovhlem - Intro
The Blood of Ovhlem AU was created by @crepey-pastries and the amount of word building that's gone into it is insane. so I'm doing my part.
details under cut.
Name - Yahir
Age -
Mid - Older twenties. They think around 27-28.
Gender/pronouns :
Non-binary more masc. They/them.
Roles/Factions :
Proxy
Drudge
Wolf of Nyx - current
Follower of Yihvn - future
Personality :
Yahir is someone trying piece their past together and finding new horrors they committed each day that passes. Despite this they have a generally positive or at least non-hostile demeanour. They can't change who they were and they can't raise the dead but they can decide what they do next. If there's an option to choose kindness or mercy. They'll take it, no matter how many times this results in hardship. This isn't a naivety but a hope that the people caught in this chaos aren't irremediable because if that's the case then Yahir is beyond saving too.
Yahir also has the tendency to be impulsive and not fully think things through, they'll take on most challenges put in their path with little though as to whether they'll survive the ordeal.
Yahir puts on a braver face and for the most part it's genuine, as most who've survived a length of time under The White King's 'care', they've been through a lot of shit that they're only just now processing. It's only if they feel like they can actually trust someone that they'll show the rampant grief and insecurities that are swarming around their head.
Yahir doesn't know if there's a way out of Ovhlem, since even death won't free them but if they find a way out...they're dragging everyone they've ever loved or been stabbed in the back by with them.
Key Relationships :
Lucky Jax -
This was a bitter from the start. Jax is a violent man and makes no attempts to hide it. He's the embodiment of the crabs in a bucket mentality that looms over The White Kings pawns. Any memory Yahir has of Jax is accompanied with bruised knuckles, blood noses and peeling yellow wallpaper. In present Jax is the only person Yahir would kill out of a self defence situation.
Kate -
There are times where Yahir convinces themselves that maybe The White King forgot about them. Kate seems to be the reminder to correct such a lapse in judgement.
Nesha Nishi -
Like most Yahir knew, they can't remember a lot of their relationship with Nesha, and at times where they meet on opposite ends of the conflict and her movements are all but muscle memory, they know she can't either. The only thing that let's Yahir know any kindness was present in their relationship is the abject cruelty she pursues them with when she is lucid.
ArachNyx -
She doesn't think that Yahir is worthy of the cult and even less so to named Wolf by Nyx. It bleeds into all of their interactions and Yahir knows it's because they've slain innocents but hesitates with killers. Yahir will never be fully redeemed in ArachNyx's eyes until they've taken a life of a proxy they used to know. Yahir just can't stand the thought of having another friend's blood on their hands but knows ArachNyx will never see eye to eye with them on that.
Jeff -
The only one in this entire mine field that's willing to tell Yahir anything of their time as a killer/proxy. Yahir has the feeling that they used to be close to Jeff but the other refuses to confirm either way. All Yahir knows is that Jeff was the only one that still treated them as a human when they became a drudge. Yahir's friendship with Jeff causes them the most issues with the cult in general. Yahir tells themself they keep talking to Jeff for the knowledge he drip feeds but it's mainly because Yahir generally likes his company. However they can't help but feel like Jeff is hiding something major in the fog of Yahir's memory.
Tattoo Keeper -
(I will get to him, because I think he would actually be okay in this au)
Yahir doesn't know how the guy has survived if they're being completely honest. He spills his guts at the slightest push-back but Yahir doesn't know which faction Tattoo Keeper belongs too, he just seems to be kidnapped repeatedly for information or is doing the kidnapping for the highest bidder. He'll attempt to play doctor for anyone that's willing to pay for his various vices and is slowly getting better at it. One of the few people that is allowed to see the drudge branding on Yahir's shoulder.
Yihvn -
Yahir feels a connection to Yihvn they can't quite explain. The very few times they've met Yahir has wanted to follow them through hell and back to keep them safe. They don't know what it is. Yahir doesn't want to control Yihvn or carry out any other fraction's goals for them either, but they have a nagging feeling that Yihvn is the key to stop these horrors and that can't be a good thing.
(I'm also very open to updating this with another person's oc)
Background :
Like most born into Ovhlem Yahir was just a victim to a cruel fate via birth lottery.
Yahir grew up with two others, Gail and another that they can no longer remember the name or face of. Like all kids they heard tales of disappearances and followed strange rituals under the guise of 'staying safe'. Gail and the other didn't have parents that would walk them to and from school or make sure they were safe so Yahir made sure they would instead.
Yahir can no longer remember how their friend died, when they recollect on it the only visages that cling to their memory is blood in the forest and corpse they wish they could still recognised.
Whatever happened in those woods brought Gail and Yahir closer, they graduated together, they roomed together and Gail was the driving force in helping Yahir understand who they were.
Yahir can't remember the details of the break-in, they can't remember who the killer was or even if The White King sent them. Yahir can't remember how they ended up under the instructions of The White King or how many they mindlessly killed for it but they do remember the final test.
They had somehow made the rank of proxy, spent two years in the forest fending for themselves, a feat they can't congratulate themselves on because they don't know how the fuck it happened.
All they had to do was complete was last order and they would've won The White King's favour.
Yahir was ordered to kill Gail. They refused. They were dragged by people who are now faceless when Yahir tries to direct their pain at them. Yahir watched as someone they can't remember brutally murdered Gail in front of them. Yahir tried, for the first time in years they lashed out against The White King and his forces, but by the time Yahir got to Gail they were holding a corpse.
They were dragged to the drudge cages and the two long and painful years in that dungeon is the only thing that Yahir wishes The White King would erase from their memory.
Yahir fought for scraps and lashed out at any killer or proxy that dared come down to see them. With a single exception, they don't know why Jeff of all people extended the olive branch but they plan too eventually.
Then the night came. An eruption of chaos and a dent in The White King's power. All the drudges were set free and brought to be protected by a cult that Yahir had never heard of.
Yahir stayed in the cult when other's were released. It wasn't much of a choice, they were told that too leave would mean giving up more of their memory and that wasn't a price they were willing to pay. So Yahir stayed, and for once they don't have to worry about waking up to more of their past being gone.
