i truly do not understand how libertarians really keep trying to get POC to swallow the same poisoned koolaid that they’re sipping from.

“The government is out of control!!” They say. “How horrible are mandatory minimums! They shouldn’t be used for white militia men break who break land laws on insanely scarce patches of public land JUUUUUSSSSTTTT like they shouldn’t be used to put POC in jail for 30 years just for a small bag of drugs or a third strike on a small misdemeanor offense like shoplifting. We are ALLLLLL in the same boat!! Right?!?!??!“

Bullshit. I believe in mandatory minimums. I don’t believe we should just de-fang our sentencing laws/government completely just because SOME mandatory minimums are bad. Why not just change the “bad” mandatory minimum laws on a case by case basis? I like mandatory minimums. I think they should be used against rapists, mass shooters, and child predators, for instance.

I don’t think they should be used for drugs, theft, or property damage.

But that’s just me, I guess.

Another thing these white libertarians love to (disingenuously) yell with a raised fist in the air:

“black lives matttttttterrr!!!!! You guuuyyysss!!! The cops ARE out of control and they are killing YOU!! isn’t THIS why WE (??) should all limit the powers of the government? So that we can limit the powers of their personal little gestapo???”

Um no. The national guard and a strong federal government are often the only armed force who can protect us when these roving gangs and racist county police forces go nuts.

The libertarians who say stuff like this are often THE SAME ONES who will quote people like Vince Vaughn and Rand Paul saying things like “I’m all for freedom. Just freedom. Although it’s bad, even freedom for a private businesses and other entities to discriminate against black people if they want to”.

My mouth just drops open when I hear stuff like that.

It’s so callous and dismissive.

They a) don’t care about reining-in racists with federal laws and b) low key put foolish trust in their fellow white man NOT to discriminate against people of color because ✌no one ✌ “sees"✌race✌anymore✌anyway. Everything will be fiiiiiinnnnneee if we just give everyone a chance to do whatever they want.

I truly do not understand this.

And they believe it all because their libertarian politicians “promised” them things like legal drug use, no more war, more freedom for private businesses in the form massive deregulation, ethical healthcare and better education through regulation and privatization, and no more unlimited government survillence of private citizens?

Do they not realize these are lies?

That NO ONE can promise this stuff because we live a a republic run by CASH?

these entities they are putting so much trust in have, time and again, stated and PROVEN to them that they will sell ANYONE (including precious, freedom loving white middle class males) right up the fucking river to increase their profits.

I just don’t understand why they believe anything short of an orgy of mass robbery and executions would take place if we didn’t have a strong government in place at least THREATENING to punish greedy and insane private and public entities from oppressing people?

I’m so sick of these libertarians trying to do everything the simple way by throwing the baby out with the bathwater (abolish everything! Instead of just some things!) all because they live in fucking la la la where they arent being physically and economically oppressed every fucking day like we are.
