this is so unrelated to everything going on in the latest chapter 😭 i just love hakuhiro / hakuchihi
🏳️🌈?!
How it started:
How it's going:
Some JP Kagurabachi Ship Tags
Hi void. This is absolutely not exhaustive- it's just based on what I've come across while crawling tags for HakuHiro art. Sorry, yuribachi shippers.
チヒ伯 or チ伯 [ChihiHaku or ChiHaku] (Chihiro/Hakuri) - HakuHiro basically doesn't exist in JP fan spaces so this is the tag to search/follow for best boys being cute with each other. But if you want an exercise in futility then search 伯チヒ.
チヒ緋 [ChihiHi] (Chihiro/Hiyuki) - Chiyuki is a common name in Japan so it makes sense for the JP ship name to use a different portmanteau
柴チヒ [ShibaChihi] (Shiba/Chihiro) - super popular in JP for some reason
国柴 [KuniShiba] (Kunishige/Shiba) - "old man" yaoi ftw 国薊 [KuniAzami] (Kunishige/Azami) - the least popular "old man" yaoi on both sides of the ocean
柴薊 or 柴アザ [ShibaAzami or ShibaAza] (Shiba/Azami) - Sorry for the people who enjoy this pair but it's rare and scattered under different tag names.
バン漆 [BanUru] (Bandanna Guard/Uruha) - significantly less funny than the EN fandom name (Yogurt) 昼幽 or 昼統 [HiruYu or HiruTou] (Hiruhiko/John) - not sure which will be the final name for the ship. I don't know if I care enough about it to keep tabs TBH. As a note: 統 (tou) means "leader/control" and is NOT the same as the Tou (濤, "wave") from the Sazanami clan.
統チヒ [TouChihi] (John/Chihiro) - Yes this is for John Hishaku/Chihiro ship art. Not sure if this ship name will change since it's been around for a bit.
柴宗 [ShibaSo] (Shiba/Soya) - rare but hilarious every time
宗伯 [SoHaku] (Soya/Hakuri) - yikes
Genuinely sat on this post in private for over a month because I wasn't sure if sharing that last ship name was a good idea. In the end, I'm including it for three reasons. One, because I'm just a random nobody ranting into the void; hardly anyone sees my posts anyway. Two, because it can help people protect themselves if they want to explore JP fan spaces. Three, because I trust that the small handful of people who see this will all be mature about it. Or into it. Whatever floats your boat if it's purely fictional, IMO.
No outro we end awkwardly like MEN (who like MEN).
KB Volume 4 Summary 🏳️🌈
Ok, so... yeah the synopsis is hella gay.
「淵天」が収められた「蔵」へ続く扉の存在を知り、楽座市会場の下層を目指すチヒロ。折れた「刳雲」を携え、閃光が如く敵を絶命させる復讐者。その眼前に立ちはだかるのは…? Chihiro's segment in the first part is about what you'd expect from a shounen manga- he's gonna retrieve Enten from his current position in the plot but oh no! A mysterious figure stands in his way!
On the other hand, Hakuri's section has a lot of ship fuel... 一方、兄からの愛と暴力によって地に伏した伯理。今際の際に脳裏を過ったのは、ある少女との日々だった。極限の中、二人の少年の魂が呼応する。 (Colors added by me for emphasis.) "Meanwhile, Hakuri is struck down by his brother's love and violence. On the brink of death, he remembers the days he spent with a certain girl. In the midst of this extreme tension, the souls of both boys resonate with each other."
What.
OK so first, Soya. His "love" is described as 愛 (ai)- the pure, deep love of many a romance novel. It can be applied to family members and friends -ai is not strictly romantic at all, not even a little bit- but, uh... it's not a typical first choice. Ai is very, very heavy; there's no type of love more unselfish or profound (how ironic). Go wild, SoHaku enthusiasts.
Second, the last sentence is basically more total harmony/Aun imagery for Hakuri and Chihiro. 呼 (ko) means to call and 応 (ou) means to respond. Together, 呼応 means to act in concert. So Hakuri and Chihiro's souls call out and respond to each other in perfect sync when they're in dire straits. Yup. Very platonic, yes.
Third, it's hard to claim plausible deniability with Ice Lady being mentioned because of this:
Apologies again for my shitty mspaint skills.
Hakuri legit looks at them the same way when they tell him he's useful (in his mind, worth something). So like... I know this is meant to be platonic. I don't think he had a romantic thing going on with Ice Lady and the same goes for Chihiro. But man, why do all this AND all the other stuff that's happened in canon just for the bit?! I mean, I'm sure as hell not complaining! It's just a lot more than the crumbs I'm used to getting, you know?
Anyway, yeah. Thank you for sating my appetite for delusion, Hokazono-sensei. You know what you're doing with all this and I appreciate it.
