Is anyone in this fandom old enough to remember when ships as well as platonic friendships had little like ... for lacking a better term ... "titles?"

You know like how "do you permit it?" is Enjolras x Grantaire's ship title/phrase in the Les Miz fandom?

Popular OCxCanon ships sometimes even had their own little titles as well depending on the fandom.

I miss that trend.

We should bring that back.

I propose "a perfect fit" as Miranda x Roland's ship title/phrase.

(I have one other one I like, but it's tied more to something I have on their ship playlist. This makes actual sense for them from canon.)

Either "we'll do it together" or "great and grand" for Cedric x Greylock. (Personally, I like the first one better because I like the quote form "Baileywhoops," and it's cute.)

As far as the platonic friendships go, I was thinking:

"being friends & being brothers" - Cedric & Roland's platonic friendship

(Though, I am open to suggestions on any or all of these, but especially Cedric & Roland's tag. I just like this iteration because it's a nice summary of their friendship from canon in a handful of words that's VERY loosely based on a quote I associate with them.)

Additionally, for people who like them as a ship you could (probably should even for organizational purposes) have a different little phrase for them as ship instead of a friendship. Personally, I could see either of these characters as bi ... just not for each other?

"i believe in you" or "they were once incredibly close" - Cedric & Cordelia

Now, I am partial to "his little arthur of sorts" for Sofia & Cedric's friendship. (But, that is because I used it in one of my fics, and I love the idea of encapsulating their Merlin & Arthur parallels somehow.)

But, in reality, something like "a far, far better me" - to cite the song, in S3- or "to be friends is the most powerful spell" - again because it's a decent summary of their arc - would be good options for Sofia & Cedric's platonic mentorship and friendship phrase tag.

(The second option may, or may not, ... okay, it is ... lowkey based on a quote by Van Gogh ... but COME ON! It works too well doesn't it!?)

These are the only ones I could think of off the top of my head, but I like them?

HOW IS IT that there are only THIRTEEN WORKS ON AO3 that have tagged "past harley keener/peter parker" so few that it's NOT EVEN A WRANGLED TAG???? like yes we stan it when parkner is still alive and well but as a multishipper sometimes it is necessary for my other fics' plotlines that they not be in love no more

Angbang AO3 Tag Clogging Masterpost

1st of April, the tag contains 1,881 works without filters.

Now, I applied the suggested "Exclude Relationship" filters for each tag that was not Morgoth/Sauron or Morgoth & Sauron (and their respective species/species and disguised persona/disguised persona tags).

I know that is a very strict approach but I don't want to split hairs about this; see for yourself how many relationship tags and which I excluded.

Already, the number drops by 364 fics.

But that is far from all.

So, I continued.

In the screenshots, you only see some ships I excluded, and the timestamp on my screenshots show you just how long it takes.

Well, what if I also exclude some fandom tags?

Because it is just so much and I have no more space for screenshots, I decided to screen-record what I excluded and how much is left.

(first video was taken 16:03, but i had missed 3 ship tags and excluded them as well just now)

1,069 fics, from the starting count of 1,881 fics.

We're at 1,069 fics... that only contain the four tags unmarked as seen in the video, because I felt they might be relevant to the pairing (platonic ship tag, species tag, alternative/secret identity tag).

A separate field for Past- or Background Relationships to fill out and filter out would be wonderful.

Some JP Kagurabachi Ship Tags

Hi void. This is absolutely not exhaustive- it's just based on what I've come across while crawling tags for HakuHiro art. Sorry, yuribachi shippers.

チヒ伯 or チ伯 [ChihiHaku or ChiHaku] (Chihiro/Hakuri) - HakuHiro basically doesn't exist in JP fan spaces so this is the tag to search/follow for best boys being cute with each other. But if you want an exercise in futility then search 伯チヒ.

チヒ緋 [ChihiHi] (Chihiro/Hiyuki) - Chiyuki is a common name in Japan so it makes sense for the JP ship name to use a different portmanteau

柴チヒ [ShibaChihi] (Shiba/Chihiro) - super popular in JP for some reason

国柴 [KuniShiba] (Kunishige/Shiba) - "old man" yaoi ftw 国薊 [KuniAzami] (Kunishige/Azami) - the least popular "old man" yaoi on both sides of the ocean

柴薊 or 柴アザ [ShibaAzami or ShibaAza] (Shiba/Azami) - Sorry for the people who enjoy this pair but it's rare and scattered under different tag names.

バン漆 [BanUru] (Bandanna Guard/Uruha) - significantly less funny than the EN fandom name (Yogurt) 昼幽 or 昼統 [HiruYu or HiruTou] (Hiruhiko/John) - not sure which will be the final name for the ship. I don't know if I care enough about it to keep tabs TBH. As a note: 統 (tou) means "leader/control" and is NOT the same as the Tou (濤, "wave") from the Sazanami clan.

統チヒ [TouChihi] (John/Chihiro) - Yes this is for John Hishaku/Chihiro ship art. Not sure if this ship name will change since it's been around for a bit.

柴宗 [ShibaSo] (Shiba/Soya) - rare but hilarious every time

宗伯 [SoHaku] (Soya/Hakuri) - yikes

Genuinely sat on this post in private for over a month because I wasn't sure if sharing that last ship name was a good idea. In the end, I'm including it for three reasons. One, because I'm just a random nobody ranting into the void; hardly anyone sees my posts anyway. Two, because it can help people protect themselves if they want to explore JP fan spaces. Three, because I trust that the small handful of people who see this will all be mature about it. Or into it. Whatever floats your boat if it's purely fictional, IMO.

No outro we end awkwardly like MEN (who like MEN).
