The whole HSR fandom collectively decided that Aventurine's love language is gift giving and that he buys his partner all these expensive gifts like jewelry. I love that idea but I always think he would get/make gifts that had more meaning.
I was watching my grandmas crochet a blanket for my cousin and I just imagined Aventurine struggling to crochet his partner's favorite video game/movie/book character. It kinda made me giggle because I remember seeing all these videos of people attempting to crochet stuff and they all turn out misshaped and funny looking.
Hi anon. :) Omg this headcanon is so soft and so perfect, and now I can’t stop thinking about it. Detailed thoughts under the cut:
You’re absolutely right that the fandom has collectively decided Aventurine’s love language is gift-giving, and I do love the idea of him showering his partner with expensive jewelry and luxury items. But I think you’ve hit on something even more meaningful.
I mentioned it before but I think the expensive gifts would (mostly) come early in the relationship, when Aventurine is still trying to “earn” love, still convinced that his worth is tied to what he can provide. But as trust deepens and he starts to believe he’s loved for who he is rather than what he can give, the gifts would shift. They’d become more personal. More vulnerable. More him.
And the image of Aventurine attempting to crochet is almost too much for my heart to handle (it's just so preciouos!). I can picture it so clearly:
It’s 2 AM. Aventurine is sitting on the couch, squinting at a crochet tutorial on his phone for the fifteenth time. There’s a half-finished, vaguely blob-shaped thing in his lap that’s supposed to be a character from your favorite game, but it’s… well, it’s misshapen. The colors are right, at least. He got that part correct. But one of the arms is longer than the other, there are a few dropped stitches he didn’t notice until three rows later, and the head is slightly lopsided.
He’s restarted the same row at least ten times.
His fingers hurt.
He’s determined.
Because this is about showing you that he can give you something that isn’t bought, something that required time and patience and trying, even if the result is a little ridiculous-looking.
When he finally finishes it—exhausted, frustrated, but also oddly proud—he wraps it carefully and gives it to you with an air of forced nonchalance, like it’s no big deal.
But his hands are shaking slightly when you open it.
You stare at the lumpy crochet creature. You recognize the character (barely). You see the uneven stitches. The dropped loops. The mismatched arm lengths.
You see the hours.
“You… made this?” you ask, voice soft.
Aventurine immediately gets defensive. “It’s supposed to be...”
“I love it.”
He freezes. “You… what?”
“I love it, Aventurine.” You’re tearing up now, holding the little misshapen blob like it’s the most precious thing in the world. “You made this for me.”
And that’s when it hits him. He doesn’t have to be perfect. He doesn’t have to buy your love. He can make it, even if it’s messy, even if it’s imperfect.
Especially if it’s imperfect.
Because that means he tried.
___
This headcanon is so beautiful because it shows Aventurine’s growth. The shift from expensive, somewhat impersonal gifts ("buying love", in a way, although it happens on a subconscious level for him) to handmade, meaningful ones (showing love) represents him learning that he’s enough just as he is. That his time, his effort, his care...those things have value beyond any price tag. :)
And crochet specifically is such a perfect choice. It requires focus and repetition and accepting mistakes. It’s the opposite of Aventurine’s usual calculated risk-taking. It’s vulnerable in a way that spending money never could be. :)
Thank you for sharing this headcanon. It’s going to live in my brain rent-free forever now. Feel free to share more thoughts in the future. ☺️

Hello, good day. I just wanna say you have an amazing understanding on what Vincent/Vox likes and was really spot on his attraction to Val and Alastor but personally speaking, what woman would Vox genuinely fall for because I notice that reader falls into either these two personalities (of what I read I mean). The two good for Hell angelic types who were mostly his wives from when he was Vincent or the reliable and steady employee who is capable. In your opinion, would he go for someone else? Maybe someone who is definitely more glamorous and independent (Think Maddie from Euphoria or even Verosika Mayday) who definitely calls him out and not take his bull without a fight? Because many think that he wouldn't go for a female who is so oppionated cause he is from the 50s? Like, what in your version would be Vox's ideal wife/girlfriend? And would it be different from Vincent's? And please don't apologize for yapping cause I tend to do it too and your characterization of Vincent and Vox is truly amazing and totally in character. Ok, thank you so much. Please keep it up.
Thank you for your compliments. I'm glad you like my analyzation of Vox. Idk what it is, but his character is very interesting to me.
I wanna preface this by saying I don't think Vox is into one specific type of woman or man. He's shown interest in Alastor and Val, two completely different characters. One problem that fandom spaces run into is that they think every character is only into one specific type of person. Same thing happens when a character shows interest in a specific food (Alastor and jambalaya).
Please. To anyone reading, there's no need not take my interpretation as law if you do not like it. I don't wanna sound like those tiktok girlies how preface their Vox head canons like, "WrITiNg VoX hEaD cANoNs tHaT ARe aCtUAlLy CANON". And then they write shit like, he'd electrocute you for fun and doesn't GAF about your wellbeing. Like, girl, shut up. If he cares about Val's wellbeing when they're in an on again, off again relationship he'd care about yours if you were in a relationship. He was pinpointed as being narcissistic by the fandom (prob true) and now that's like his ONE character trait. Characters can't have more than one trait anymore I guess. I'm not gonna focus on his narcissism very much while writing this because I'm not well-researched on the topic and am not super interested in doing so. sorry.
THIS IS FUN. WE'RE HAVING FUN.
In the grand scheme of things, my take is probably OOC, but I don't care. We're here to have fun and read fanfiction that makes us happy. And making this stupid TV man fall head over heels for reader makes me happy, so, IDGAF. I've said ONCE and I'll said it AGAIN. IF THAT MAN CAN BE CANONICALLY OBSESSED WITH ALASTOR, THEN HE CAN OBSESSED WITH US TOO.
All right. In the 50s, every man was essentially expected to strive for one thing. The perfect all-American family. If you didn't have that, you were probably the odd one out. Considering Vincent likely hated being ostracized (heterochromia and graying hair didn't help) he'd strive for that too. In that time period, I think he would like a woman who's the perfect house wife. He'd probably think she's cute. A sweet wife who derives joy from taking care of him and the house they share, how nice is that. His first devoted follower.
But, there is a possibility he might like a woman who strives for more. Maybe he'd think they're interesting. Like I said before, he does not need to be into one type of person.
When it comes to Vox, I think his type might be different. He probably has some nostalgia for the 50s (it was very easy for handsome, charming white men to manipulate people back then), but keep in mind, his whole character is all about moving forward to the future. So, I don't think he'd keep all of the same ideals from the 50s. Considering one of his business partners, bestie, is Velvette, I don't think he hates opinionated woman.
I feel like Vincent would have the capability of liking an opinionated woman, but that was a bad thing back then. So, I don't think he'd act on it. Despite how different Vox and Vincent feel, I still think a lot of their interests would overlap.
At some point, Vox would probably bore of routine and someone who has no ambition for more. He's an inherently greedy man, never fully satisfied. He'd want someone who has vision and inspires him while agreeing with his own. I don't think he'd pursue a committed romantic relationship with an employee who's a yes man.
I can definitely see Vox falling for someone like Maddie (I don't watch Euphoria, but I do like Maddie's character from what I've seen in summaries and clips). From what I gathered, Maddie seems very smart and knows how to play the game. Like how she carries herself despite hardships and her scenes with Alamo where she appears unafraid and capable of getting her hands dirty. I do like a reader who doesn't take shit and isn't afraid to call him out when he's being an ass. I CANNOT STAND IT when I'm reading a fic, reader gets disrespected and she says nothing or brushes it off. Like, girl, STAND UP. TELL HIM OFF. Yes, it's Vox, he's fine asf. BUT HE'S STILL A MAN. YOU'RE GONNA LET A MAN DISRESPECT YOU? NAH. FUCK THAT.
Something that I keep in mind when writing my specific fics or indulging in my internal OC thoughts where character is Vincent's housewife is, behind every great man is an even greater woman. I like my house wives to be interesting. Cause they are. House wives and mothers don't get the respect they deserve. Half the time, men can barely survive an HOUR in their shoes. Despite not knowing if I'll go that far, I do think very far ahead in their respective stories for no reason. Like, what do they do when Vincent inevitably dies? They're gonna have to get their hands dirty to survive as fairly young widow in the 50s.
I do know of one dealbreaker that he has that I can bet is 100% canon. Disliking Shok.Wav.
If you express any type of disgust or hatred towards his son. That's it. Doesn't matter how perfect you are. You're done. Get the fuck out of his building.
Iron Lung has done irreparable damage to my psyche, it is not leaving, there is an eel shaped brainworm plaguing my ass. I thought it would be a one and done, an "oh that was neat and cool :)" type of movie but NO. ITS FUCKING LATCHED ONTO ME. MARKIPLIER WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU PUT IN THE BLOOD OCEAN.
Anyways watching it for a 3rd time Sunday with another friend and I have some tomfuckery in the works :)
So this might be a hot take, probably not to any fellow Marius/Armand shippers but for people who dislike them I know this scene is quite controversial...
But, I love the bath scene and yes I do think in the context of the story that was a "good" thing for Marius to do.
"But Armand was a sexually traumatized minor with amnesia and the first thing Marius thought to do was to have sex with him?!"
-Yes, something that would be an extremely bad and a morally corrupt thing to do in real life can be a good thing within the context of the story you are reading.
"But Armand didn't want it! He was practically mute; he couldn't say no!"
-But he did want it, he literally thinks in his mind that he wants it before Marius does it, and Marius can literally read his mind.
Any hesitation Armand has is more to do with religious shame then not wanting it, which feels like a classic erotic scene, shame giving way to pleasure when your older more experienced partner guides you through it. And yes, a real minor cannot consent to a 1,500 year old vampire but again he’s not real and the key is to pay attention to the actual sentiments Armand is expressing in this scene, that of repressed desire and pleasure. He's filled with "warm thrilling sensations" he doesn't claim to feel bad in any way.
I also want to disagree with this notion that Armand instantly clings to any "abuser" that shows him an inch of kindness. Armand did not cling to his slavers, not the man who was "nice" to him and didn't make him do sexual things and stopped him from being beaten.
On the contrary, Armand is endlessly defiant towards his abusers and only surrenders in Marius's arms because he feels safe and loved with him, partially because he sees Marius as some sort of ethereal being and not a normal man. And also, because he finds Marius attractive of course😏.
The boys in the brothel being “soft” with him, he’s not into it at all.
The old man who never touched him, and showed him “kindness,” Armand saying he didn’t love him.
Armand finding Marius hot lol
Armand feeling like an active participant in his sexual experience with Marius, “We began the kisses again,” not Marius did this to me.
I know a lot of people say that Armand is an unreliable narrator in this scene, which I find silly because even if he is, this is still his emotional truth about this experience, and he doesn't feel bad or exploited or like he was raped by Marius 500 years later. I think you're supposed to take the "victim's" feelings about an event into account, no?
But for the sake of argument let's look at Marius's perspective of this scene from Blood & Gold.
So Marius is pretty lost in the daddy sauce from the moment he scoops Amadeo up, his caregiver instincts take hold lol
He's truly in his element.
Marius confirms that Amadeo is quite accepting and willing with his intimacy unlike how he was with his abusers.
I see this quote thrown around a lot without context, but all you need to do is keep reading and, oh wait that's not so sinister... He literally stops wanting to die because of Marius's kisses.
I also see this line used a lot to show how "bad" this scene is.
But again, I'd argue based on everything we're shown in TVA this has more to do with religious trauma/shock then being traumatized by what Marius is doing. We know Armand does not reflect on this experience in a negative way and remembers it being pleasurable.
The immediate after math of the bath.
"He was breathing as though he were safe." and "Yet in his mute expression now I saw pure trust." And Amadeo immediately calling him "Master." To me this shows that the bath was in fact a healing experience for Amadeo, he feels incredibly safe in Marius's bed, he's not having nightmares, and he's looking to Marius as his Master already without being told or influenced to think that way. And well, yes this doesn't heal his religious trauma or bring back his memories, (I don't think even the greatest head in the world could do that) it does relax him in the moment and make him feel good, which is exactly what Marius wanted to do. I certainly don't think there's evidence to support that it traumatized him or was a negative experience for him in any way.
All this to say, I don't think you're wrong if this scene makes you uncomfortable or grosses you out. I think it's perfectly valid to have big problems with the way AR wrote about teen sexuality and age gap relationships, but what I'm sick of is people acting like I'm stupid or a pervert for not "getting it" and finding this scene appealing. I get that a situation like this involving a real minor and a real adult would be inherently traumatizing for that minor, but Marius and Amadeo are not real, Marius is an ancient vampire without a human sexuality, not an adult man using Amadeo for his own pleasure.
Just because I find their relationship kinky and appealing does not mean I lack media literacy, but if you think Armand's story is supposed to be about his trauma from being "sexually abused" by Marius, I am going to question if you are actually reading the text as it is written, or if you are projecting your own feelings of discomfort onto Armand's character and their relationship as a whole. For me the crossing of taboos is a feature of Rice's vampire relationships not a bug, I like the father/son/lover dynamic that they have.
Jude’s press conference made me furious. it’s disgusting how disrespectful and disgusting the media can be. Jude was literally the only reason England didn’t embarrassingly get knocked out by Slovakia, and yet, they still made him the bad guy, placing all the blame on him to the point of harassing his family members. why do people think it’s okay to turn a single player into a punching bag?
like ok I get it, we can’t do much about brainless Twitter trolls, but the way both the media and the English squad handled this situation was absurd. they completely ignored the fact that Jude was thrown under the bus, despite being one of the main reasons they even reached the finals. And he didn’t even get voted best player by his teammates!!! every day, there were tweets with over 60K likes calling him overrated, arrogant, and etc. he was almost crucified for grabbing his balls, for shouting “who else” (because, honestly, it was him and no one else), and for kicking a box of bottles after losing the Euros final. the whole thing was pathetic.
his whole interview just made me sad because you could see how deeply all of this affected him. it’s unfortunate how players like Jude (Kylian, Vini and so many others) are treated, simply because the internet decides to make them targets.
P.S he handled the press conference perfectly, as usual and “when Real Madrid knock on the door, it shakes the whole house” line ATE SO HARD I FEAR
