#yarn hoarding

Earlier today I was nearly tempted by a coupon for

✨💖🌸🧶more yarn🧶🌸💖✨

until I was looking for a ball to finish a sock I promised my mom and couldn't find it. I was digging through my yarn stash and it wasn't there. Also there was yarn everywhere because I officially have more yarn than storage. Again. So I ended up using that coupon on replacing the missing yarn instead of yarn hoarding.

Guess what showed up as soon as I submitted the order 🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪

Looks like I'm making more socks.

no no no you don’t understand I HAVE to buy this yarn NOW while I have a paycheck because once my body gives out (either due to age or disability) I will be on a fixed income and while I will finally have the freedom to sit around crocheting all day I won’t be able to afford yarn so I HAVE to STOCK UP NOW.

had the house to myself so I'm taking over the living room with my yarn😅

also took pics of old wips that I may or may not finish. well not any time soon probably. maaaaaybe I can tackle that (last pic) zigzag blanket before it turns 10 🙈

the little knit thing was a practice piece for a class I took at the yarn store downtown. I lost the pattern print out and also I'm not great at knitting so I just casted it off and called it good. 🫡

and this doesn't even show the current wips I have going🫠

I think my goal for the next 6 months is to finish 4 wips. I have a pattern test wip that's due 7/30 but I'm thinking it won't take that long, that's 1. I started a pink summer cardigan, that's 2. I really like working on this Tunisian ten stitch blanket, that's 3. and then #4 might be that rainbow stripey square blanket. or maybe I'll put the straps on that granny square bag 🤔

and then maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but for 2024 the goal is a blanket to use up most of that rainbow array in the first pic.

Okay so if you know me offline or if you've followed me long enough you probably know I crochet. That's my main creative outlet. I'm no pro, but I love it and it's pretty much my personality at this point.

That being said like anyone who crafts I hoard material. I could sell yarn from my room at any given point in the last 15 years ( I started when I was 15 & I'll be 30 in December). However, i feel like my hoarding now is a cry for help. It's more than "oh a good sale for stuff I'm running out of" and more "I need to buy this just because" and I don't know why. I'm gonna have to dig deeper because my go to answer is my brother and granny dying but it doesn't feel like that's correct. I know there's some self-sabatage in there as well regarding my crocheting in general. I'm. Supposed to have opened an online store years ago but always got too scared, too busy, too broke to maintain the fees with too little time to give to the idea. And besides, who would buy? My friends don't even drop "likes" on my posts, they don't have the means to spend $60 on a t-rex doll and I'm not pretty or popular or charming enough to get people to flock to me to see what I'm up to and wanna help support my dreams and buy from me so I say "what's the point" long before I even give it a go.

I'm so sick of myself. This was supposed to be about my yarn hoarding but now I'm just over myself, I'm gonna make more inventory tomorrow so I can launch this fucking site. Y'all are gonna share and buy from me, right? I just need enough to pay some debts, fix my teeth, and build a cute savings. I'm not trying to be rich, I just wanna be okay so I can focus on giving back.

She had many a thing On her mind But, mostly, she was thinking

About yarn

She had many a skein And so many ideas, yet, it seemed That she collected them

Big ones, small ones, Skeins in "braids", skeins in balls Bundles, yet, she still procured them

She was thinking about yarn And set more on procurring more of it She had plenty of of skeins

Regardless, she wanted more skeins Of varying types, mottled, sparkly, solid colored, Soft or itchy

She had ideas but, still, She seemed to collect them Barely finishing projects

It was a habit Practically an addiction She wanted to have them

Wanted to the point of needing

Yarns were existence's so few joys Anyone can see that Still

She had many a thing On her mind But, mostly, she was thinking

About yarn And how much she wanted them
