( victoria pedretti, 24, female, she/her, merfolk ) It’s been a while since we’ve seen YARA BANKS. I hear they’re a MERFOLK and they reside in THE FORGOTTEN. Some may say they act PRETENTIOUS & INSENSITIVE, while other’s claim they are FEARLESS & DEVOTED. With that being said, their soul will always remain a little crooked.
if you want to get to know her more, you will have to write with her. yara is very much a closed book.
wc: open to any, none that i feel necessary at this time
a little nervous to start writing again, message me if you want to get something going.
hello hello everyone! i’m lee (18+, she/her) and i’m super excited to be here with my mega trash son, noh kiwoo! he’s a baekho third year with the power of force-field manipulation, so not terribly exciting, but it’s cool he doesn’t really want to be a hero anyway ✨ you can find his profile, background, and power pages here - i don’t have a connections page up for him because i applied hella last minute but if you’d like to plot, just hit the like button on this post and i’ll hop into your ims!! i’ll also drop some #info about kiwoo under the cut for quick reference.
so, quick intro: noh kiwoo, 22, baekho third year
he’s actually supposed to be a fourth year, but he took a break between his second and third year to go volunteer with a habitat for humanity-esque charity. so most of the people he went to classes with are in fourth year - kind of awkward but he’s rolling with it!
majoring in architectural and urban engineering, works on campus at the mugunghwa library as a library assistant, so you’ll see him there often. for extracurriculars, he’s a member of the volleyball club
his dad has no powers, but his mother has the power of persuasion. she’s a middle school teacher and doesn’t use her abilities for anything more than getting her students to pay attention in class
his older brother (noh jihun) has the power of energy manipulation and is a hwangryong alumni - was in cheongryong through all four years and graduated with a major in civil engineering
has the power of force-field manipulation - you can read all about it on his powers page so i won’t go into it, but basically he can generate and manipulate force-fields that serve as shields. it’s primarily a defensive power; there are some offensive applications of it but kiwoo hasn’t trained in them
used to think his power was super lame, but his brother convinced him otherwise. he and his brother were supposed to become a badass hero duo eventually BUT his brother never received an invite to join baekho - though he lied to kiwoo and pretended he did. kiwoo only found out the truth during his brother’s graduation and the reveal fucked up their relationship for a long time
(he was pissed that his brother, the most deserving, the most heroic of anyone he knows, was made to feel like he wasn’t worthy by baekho, but also hurt that his brother lied to him!! idk a lot of complicated feelings there)
anyway, when he entered hwangryong he decided to join jujak out of spite - didn’t think he would get a baekho invite and neither did he want one
but lo and behold!! got one anyway, mostly because of his powerset - ended up accepting just out of morbid curiosity or a latent desire to still be acknowledged as a hero?? he didn’t like it when he was in, though, and really put in like 0 effort for training classes, etc
was going to drop out at the end of his second year and return to jujak, but his brother whisked him away to do some volunteering and think about what it really means to be a hero and eventually kiwoo decided to stick in baekho till graduation
so he came back, and no one really knows what he was doing in that one year since he never made it public knowledge!! but he’s like. here. doing his thing. chillin. hatin’ every second of it
PERSONALITY:
kind of standoffish, comes across as arrogant, really hard for him to open up to people. honestly, leaves a bad first impression because he can be a sarcastic dick
super smart and perceptive, his observational skills are off the chart (his third eye is open), really hardworking and dedicated to getting good grades and doing well in his classes, low key competitive about this
exception: hero training. he used to be so indifferent and unenthusiastic that it pissed people off. a little (??) better about that now but not by much, just does enough to get by
not really mean-spirited though, like he’s never rude out of a desire to be malicious... it just kind of slips out because he’s so blunt and doesn’t suffer fools
keeps a cool head!! really measured and meticulous, analyzes everything, won’t act on impulse. he doesn’t really... like people who are the opposite of this. they just unsettle him and make him feel nervous
really hates fake people... can’t stand them. he’s pretty honest and upfront (for better or worse) himself, so people who lie as easily as breathing or try to put-on a different attitude or whatever really piss him off
ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT PEOPLE A LOT it’s just... hard for him to express that openly, will show his appreciation + care in different ways. hell, part of him just wants to be a hero to protect others and he doesn’t like this weird ranking system that claims some people are worthy of being ‘legit’ heroes while others aren’t like who tf decides that
anyway he’s kind of a lame nerd - he loves documentaries and reading about dumb conspiracy theories so he can make fun of them. he also loves volleyball and building things with his hands
he’s hard to get to know and only has a very small circle of friends but he’s a good boy... i promise......
what’s good, yall ? i’m jia, and i’ll be penning seol. she’s an old muse i had a while back which i fixed up for yb, and i’m very, very excited to start writing with you guys !!!
this is queued, since it’s 6am where i am, but i’ll be getting to intros and all that good stuff when i’m up. in the meantime, i’ve shoved some info about seol under the cut ♡
her pages are as follows: biography (/bi.), profile (/pr.), as well as a super bare bones plots (/pl.) i’d love to discuss a connection with you guys and your gorgeous muses, though, so don’t be shy and like this if you’re down to plot ! i also have a discord that you can ask for, if you’d like to plot there instead.
moved to seoul from nyc a little over 6 months ago and joined hr in september of last year.
still figuring out applications for her powers because she never really had cause to use them growing up. she studied in ‘normal’ institutions all throughout elementary to high school.
a nerd who spends a good half of her time in the library studying. actual love for knowledge? a way to un-imposter syndrome? an unconscious desire to impress and make her dad proud?
lowkey is eyeing baekho for her second year, but her daddy issues tell her to stay in cheongryong, do well in classes and graduate and work in the public service sector.
an open book ! if you ask, she’ll answer.
always on the hunt for her next meal, and acts like a broke college student despite having a enormous trust fund. likes to say that she should go on a diet soon while stuffing her face. someone please call her out.
will deck u if u do aegyo, but has no problem doing it herself.. yeah........ she’s like that.
she’s got the power of water manipulation, so she says her favourite disney movie is moana but it’s actually tangled.
can’t swim despite her power. or because of her power. it’s all how u frame it baybee
mental health is.. u know, not The Greatest™, but she deals. has bipolar 2 disorder, but it’s medicated and she speaks to a therapist regularly. i’ll get more into it if it affects your muse’s relationship with seol, because this is an intro post and we aren’t gonna get too heavy lmao
yeah anyw i’d love to hear from u guys !!! super pumped 2 start writing with all of u !
Bellatrix Hecate Lestrange // the devil shudders as she rises ( she’s taking aim for his throne )
She grew up wanting to break things —- toys and hearts and bones and people. Her father indulged her, quietly forming her into the woman that she is today, a weapon, a beast. Someone who finds peace in the destruction, in the chaos, in the violence. People say that she came out a little wrong - something unhinged about her persona already as a child. Those jet black eyes, waiting to devour you. Sharp teeth pulling into a Cheshire cat grin before she could even speak. As she grew older, she became more adept at hiding her… faults, slowly learning how to suppress her anger, her hatred. Instead growing colder, burning less hot ( a ticking time bomb in the making ). But then she met him. And at his side, she became so much worse. As his right hand, she tapped into unimaginable powers, but it all came at an equally unimaginable price. With him, she became less human, more vile. At his side, all she wanted to see was the streets run red with blood.
what up i’m liz, i’m twenty one and i’m here to bring u my favorite villain and chaotic badass, bellatrix lestrange !! this will be a bit long probably bc i could talk about her 5ever. most important parts to read probably are #hogwarts years, #after hogwarts and #personality stuff !!

QUICK STATS:
name: bellatrix hecate lestrange
occupation: senior obliviator
former house: slytherin
date of birth: december 23.
age: 32
BIRTH AND EARLY YEARS:
Let’s set the scene --- it’s a cold December night, right before Christmas, and the Black mansion is shaken by blood curdling screams. It’s the kind that leaves you breathless, shivers running down your spine, leaving you with the sense that something is very, very wrong. Which, Druella Black fears that it very well might be ---- because her (expected) son is four weeks early.
The birth process is excruciatingly long and difficult for poor, poor Druella, but when the clock strikes eleven on the night before Christmas, a girl comes crashing into the world. She’s not what they expect, nor what they want, and she never cries --- instead, she just watches them with those big black eyes that always seem to be appraising something.
-
Though Bellatrix’s birth was mostly an unwelcome surprise ( she came too early, and it was no secret that her parents had hoped for a boy ), she was also the first child to carry on the Black legacy, which was an honor. A necessity.
As a baby, she was small and meager. Nurses whispered about the Black baby that could barely muster a scream, that seemed so frail. Like she might break at any second. But that memory would soon fade and be replaced by a much more unpleasant one - because Bellatrix’s bones hardened, her skin thickened, her eyes grew meaner. Within a few years, any trace of that soft baby was gone, and instead, a cruel toddler took her place.
As a child, Bella was vicious. Biting, clawing, screaming and cursing were things she picked up fast, and she’d terrorize the other kids at the playground ( with an almost scary aim for her muggle born / half blood peers ).
Once she reached the age of seven, she calmed down a bit, and instead started following her father around ( and was lovingly referred to as his ‘little shadow’ ). Eager to prove herself, she learned everything that a son of Cygnus would have learnt. She was determined to show her father that being a girl would not stop her from becoming worthy of the Black throne, to carry his name with pride. Over the years of her childhood and adolescence, Bellatrix forged herself into the golden girl, a respectable heir in the making. Desperate to wear the crown.
Under her father’s influence, uncontrollable rage was switched in for an eerie quietness, anger instead boiling right below the surface, just waiting to be unleashed. She was so eager to please, to sculpt herself into whatever he wanted, so she suppressed her emotions the best she could, even though it never felt natural. And so, the nurses whispered again, but this time, it was about her sweet, sweet smile, matched with those mean, mean eyes. ‘Doesn’t it look distorted? Like that damn Cheshire cat. Something’s not right about that girl, I’m telling you. She came out wrong’.
Behind closed doors, Cygnus also encouraged Bella’s darker side. Introduced her to the dark arts and the chaos that she would later come to love so desperately.
Most of her childhood was characterized by harsh words, strict rules and high expectations. Her family’s reputation weighed heavy on her shoulders, constantly pressuring her to excel. Luckily, she shared her parents’ ambition and values, and had no problems conforming to their rule. Which also meant that she could get away with much else. As long as she remained the golden girl, Bellatrix could run wild and free.
HOGWARTS YEARS:
Bellatrix had been duly prepped before arriving at Hogwarts. She was the first of their children to walk the halls, so it was important to both Druella and Cygnus that Bellatrix knew how to behave. Who to fraternize with. Who to avoid. Who was worthy of her time. Her parents had also made sure that she already had the appropriate friends — and play dates with other pureblood kids were a common occurrence when Bellatrix was younger.
At school, Bellatrix was popular ---- the resident cool girl. The type of girl that hardly ever objects to anything, because she is always down to have a good time. The type of girl that loves Quidditch, dirty jokes and cheap beer. The type of girl that hides her true colors, at least for a while. Until she explodes.
So Bella kept out of trouble, for the most part. There were a couple.... incidents, with muggleborns. One or two may have been turned into rats and toads ( under the guise of it being a joke --- can’t you take a joke, come on now? ). More serious things have been strictly forgotten by everyone involved. Powerful parents will do the trick. Mostly though, Bellatrix kept to her fellow Slytherins... biding her time. Waiting to strike.
She played for the Slytherin Quidditch team, as a beater, and was eventually made captain ( nothing less for a child of Cygnus, she must excel ). During her time on the team, she was notorious for her cruel playing style, her foul tricks, the constant smirk on her lips as other players fell to the ground.
And during her sixth year, she was eventually recruited into the Death Eaters. And with them, she found a second home, quickly rising through the ranks.
AFTER HOGWARTS:
After graduating from Hogwarts, Bellatrix took a year off from her studies. The official reason was that she needed to “find herself”. Whatever the fuck that meant. Obviously, it was a lie to hide what she was really up to. In reality, Bellatrix was at Voldemort’s side, learning leglilimency and occlumency, all the while developing her dark magic and her shitty personality.
Quickly became Voldemort’s personal attack dog, always willing to do his bidding, no questions asked.
At the age of nineteen, Bellatrix found work as an obliviator. Though the choice had ultimately been hers to make, the dark lord was always whispering in her ear, encouraging her to infiltrate the ministry. The goal was to have sleeper agents of death eaters in every department once it was time to go to war. It also helped that becoming an oblivator just made sense — fucking with the minds of muggles could already be counted as a hobby (albeit a twisted one), and she had always been good at taking things that didn’t belong to her… Memories would be no different.
Will occasionally throw pureblood galas, but isn’t too invested in them. They’re just for show, and she couldn’t care less.
Among the Death Eaters, Bellatrix is in the inner circle. She considers herself the dark lord’s right hand, and prides herself on being his most loyal servant.
Bellatrix also has a pet snake, lovingly named Medusa.
Today, Bellatrix works as a senior obliviator at the ministry of magic. She handles a lot of paper work, but is also out in the field a lot.
PERSONALITY:
First of all - Bellatrix is a fucking shit show and we all know this.
She is like night and day ----- and her temper switches incredibly quickly, which makes her unpredictable, a little scary. She can go from the girl her family forced her to be - the Socialite, the Sophisticated Woman, the Cool Girl, to something far more sinister in the matter of minutes.
When she’s at her worst, Bellatrix is cruel, sadistic, self righteous, impulsive, angry as hell, deranged, unstable, manipulative, a little bit unhinged, ruthless, playful, childish and absolutely lethal. It’s always brewing right below, so close to the surface, just waiting to come out.
But she’s also calculating, clever, quick on her feet, intensely passionate, fiercely loyal (until she’s... not), adaptable, intuitive and assertive.
Bella often contradicts herself — she has grown up believing that it’s best to be cold and devoid of emotions (#thanks dad), but she’s a highly emotional person by nature. She tries to suppress that as best as she can, but she usually boils over pretty fast. Other emotions are usually translated into anger as well, so that’s fun. I think the best way to describe her is that she’s just fire, always burning hot or cold.
Voldemort’s influence on her is also really important!! His influence poisons her mind, her soul, her heart. The darkness that was already there is amplified, becomes a thousand times worse. Though already a skilled witch, he introduced her to magic she could only have dreamed of --- and that power became corruptive, addictive. For power, Bella would gladly pay the steep price of sacrificing her soul, her humanity.
Bellatrix really does think that she is in the right.
Also probably thinks that she’s better than everyone else at all times. There’s definitively an air of arrogance surrounding her.
Mrs Lestrange thinks that she’s invincible, and likes walking a little too close to the cliff’s edge ( playing with fire ). Will occasionally drop hints that she COULD be a death eater, but never goes too far with it. And if someone suggests that she is one, she acts like that’s absolutely outrageous. How dare you imply that I am affiliated with anything... !
Okay so, I am convinced that Bellatrix doesn’t reach peak evil + instability until after Voldemort’s fall and Azkaban, so I’m really trying to tone her down a bit and give the influence of her upbringing ( + her nature ) a bigger role in the person that she becomes. Hence why she is a little better at hiding her true colors, a little more refined. : ~ ) Though, she’s still the hammer ( doesn’t have the most finesse, mostly just likes getting things done, her technique isn’t exactly intricate, but ALWAYS effective ).
Even if most people probably don’t know that she’s a death eater ( though some probably suspect lbr ), she has a very intimidating presence. That’s her brand. And she still has that Weird Aura about her, like there is something that isn’t quite right, so that could also weird people out.
STYLE / FASHION / APPEARANCE:
Bellatrix has jet black eyes and the hair to match. It falls in soft curls over her shoulders, down her back.
Usually wears dark red lipstick.
She hides her dark mark with a concealment spell while out in public.
Dresses mostly in black. Has to wear clothes that can fit into the muggle world while at work ( since she is often out in the field, interacting with muggles ). While there, she wears a well worn leather jacket ( with shoulder pads, in true 70s style ), and wide, black pants.
Files her nails into long claws, and paints them black.
Is tall. Likes towering over people.
AESTHETICS / VIBES:
black dresses, whispered hexes, broken champagne glasses, the calm before the storm, bullets caught between teeth, a constant paradox, skin stained black and blue, a devilish grin, ‘is that wine or blood on your carpet?’, snakes wrapped around wrists, mean eyes, always running hot and cold, a cheshire cat’s smile, soft laughter as the light leaves your eyes, divine violence, a taste of the approaching revolution / the new world order, quiet desperation, family heirlooms, unwavering loyalty, sudden fits of rage, emerald lockets, double lives, ‘would you still like me with my hands around your neck?’, no conscience, silent promises, taunting you with her very last breath, the hardest of hearts, dried blood on expensive clothes and a quiet conviction that this will all make sense in the end.

former house : gryffindor
current occupation : trainee potioneer
affiliation / loyalty : order of the phoenix
romantic / sexual orientation : bisexual / biromantic
patrounus : the wolf ––– the wolf is a bit of a darker and mysterious soul, with the strength of a fighter. a person with this patronus has had a lot happen in their life, and do to that they wear a mask over their emotions. they do, however, have a very big heart that is full of both passion and fire. they have a lot of emotion within them that they are willing to give, but only once they completely trust you, and since they have been made cynical over the years this can be difficult. moral alignment : chaotic good
Mary MacDonald had always been an odd girl, the black sheep in a sea of polite children in a world where happiness was the highest of expectations. Growing up in an isolated village in Northern Ireland, Mary struggled with the normalcy of a life she had never quite chosen. Whilst kids were seen laughing, one by one trailing after one another, Mary herself could be spotted sitting idly by. A natural observer, it had been no doubt that she’d succumbed to the teasing words that came her way. It didn’t take long for the neighbourhood children to pry open every wound in which she’d tried so hard to conceal to get a rise out of the girl. What an oddity, the towns people would come to whisper, how a girl as small as she would never cower. Instead, Mary found herself merely standing stoic, ready for the impaling harm that would come at the hands of the boys and girls alike. No elder siblings to watch over her, and parents much too occupied with their day to day life upon the farm that Mary’s last option was to merely accept it. It wasn’t until she’d turned ten that she fully understood as to why.
She’d always been small for her age, others towered over her by a foot or two to say the least. Yet, within her stature there was a might in which everyone, including herself, had never expected. The incident had taken place on a brisk winter’s eve, Mary bundled in the same jumper she’d worn the year before, as the children made their rounds. Taunts were thrown her way, words meant to maim and wound. Freak. Whilst she’d gathered her things, they’d pushed her down, and it was as if the rage she’d kept carefully stowed away within her had finally broken free. Blood pouring from her nose as she’d watched the boy’s arms snap, the shrill screams of the children echoing throughout the would be silent night. It was then that their thoughts on her had been confirmed, for they ran as fast as they could away from the monster of a girl. Isolation came after, for her and her parents alike. Banished from the only place they’d ever called home, the MacDonald family found themselves secluded. Mary wondered if her parents had finally understood, instead there had only been whispers of witchcraft, of the devil possessing her whole.
[ Religion tw } Religion had always been important to the MacDonald’s, so when their daughter began to possess what they could only see as a demonic spirit, it was as if all hope had been lost. Long gone were the loving gazes and affections that came from her mother and father. To them , she was an abomination, a threat to their sacred vows made with the lord himself.
Months passed by and it seemed as though every outburst the girl had made had been followed by broken glass and shattered porcelain. Yet, one fateful night had changed everything in the eyes of the girl, her world forever altered by the words and wisdom shared by Minerva McGonagall. Swept up into the magic that Hogwarts had to offer, Mary found herself enamoured by those who shared the same gift as she. Treading carefully into the shark infested waters, the girl carried herself with more confidence than she had in years prior.
Mulciber sought out to break the girl, to make it known that she would never be one of them. It had been unforgivable, unimaginable and she’d kept it close to her besmirched soul. The school had attempted to cover it up, her infirmary visit, the scars both physical and emotional that followed. Even Mary herself had been sickened to her stomach by the looks her classmates had given her, as if she were a pariah.
There were students who sought to make you feel weak, to expose you for what you truly were. A girl filled with nothing short of dark magic, and yet one who did not belong. To them, you were nothing, you were below their purist souls. They hid behind their names, all the while you didn’t feel the need to hide at all. So every word in which they’d thrown, serpentine tongues spitting and teeth bared, she ignored. Oh how Mary loved to watch them squirm, to feel nothing but obsolete in the mind of someone they felt beneath them. Her nerve, daring at most times, had come to no surprise as her time within the Gryffindor tower had taught her.
What they’d done to her, what they’d unleashed in her, was something neither side was expecting. For, beneath her pale skin laid a monstrosity of a girl. Shedding the fear she’d once had bandaged beneath gauze and broken bones, Mary MacDonald’s magic came to fruition upon their darkened acts. She’d felt powerful when they’d only meant to make her feel inferior, she’d struck back when they had assumed she’d fade away.
Upon graduating, Mary sought out a way to make the new world she now called home better, safer for those who followed after her. It was then that she joined the Order. Although she wasn’t known for her duelling skills, Mary possessed the dedication and drive to take a stand.
Overly protective, there are few people in which Mary would risk her life for ––– even fewer that she would kill for. Yet, if it came down to it, there would be little hesitation. The darkness swallows her whole and she allows it to, almost as if she’s become a zealot of the cause with no moral compass.
Mary was a chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team from her fourth year until her seventh. Her small stature was great for swift plays and cutting through the air quickly.
As far as aesthetics go, Mary’s would consist of the following : cold winter nights, dark waves crashing against rocks, the sound of leaves crunching beneath feet, plaid shirts wrapped around your waist, dark circles beneath eyes, dark forests and intertwining trees, wolves howling at the moon, freshly brewed tea, cauldrons and experimental potions.
Whilst at Hogwarts, Mary excelled at Potions, Ancient Runes and Defence Against the Dark Arts. Herbology and Divination were her poorest classes. She was quite studious when she wasn’t getting detention with Marlene.
[ Alcoholism tw ] There’s a part of Mary that depends on the numbing feeling of alcohol to help her get through the day. If anything, it soothes her night terrors and helps her rest. Nights for her once consisted of sleepless hours and screaming panic, but since she’s resorted to alcohol, she’s found a certain peace.

MCKINNON, MARLENE : HER HEART // They were hardly ever seen without one another during their years at Hogwarts. Two souls so deeply forged together that it seemed almost impossible to pry them apart. Often times mistaken as one another, the girls had a mischievous air about them that solidified them as legends throughout the Gryffindor tower. Together, it seemed as though they were infinite. Vulnerability didn’t come easily to Mary, yet it was Marlene who consoled her after her attack, it was Marlene who’d accepted the darkness that shrouded her heart and it was Marlene who evidently abandoned her.

and he told me I was Holy.”
Regulus Black; A Life in Fragments:
One: The children of the Noble and most Ancient House of Black are meant to strive for perfection, From womb to tomb, there is always something expected from them and they are meant to reach those expectations, no matter how, no matter the cost.
When Walburga Black got pregnant of her second child, those expectations were written down in a long list, set in stone for this new baby to reach them, even when said baby wasn’t even properly formed: first, the baby had to be a girl. A beautiful girl with dark hair and pretty eyes. She had to be poised and sweet but ruthless and cold. She had to be posh, well mannered, charming and most of all, she had to be good wife material. In the wizarding society, connections were everything and to preserve blood status, arrange marriages were common. And Walburga wanted a daughter to continue her legacy. A daughter to become a matriarch of a new house. But when the baby came, the first thing he did was disappoint. Instead of a daughter, Walburga got another son.
Regulus Black was born in silence, with his eyes closed and is two months early. He was a fragile little thing, needing special care or as his parents would say, with venom in their lips, he was weak. Still, Regulus developed, under the care of the healers he became a healthy child and finally cried for the first time. In the race to perfection, he had started late and he would have to spend his whole life making up for those mistakes, even if they weren’t his fault at all. Even if they weren’t mistakes at all.
Two: [ child abuse tw, i tried to be vague but still, caution advised ] Childhood wasn’t easy. It never was for someone born in a demanding family, it never was when the mother was more governess than mother and the father was more absent than present. It was never easy when the tenderness was lacking and discipline was reinforced in ways less than ideal. And it was specially not easy when you lived in the shadow of a brother that was everything you were not.
Sirius was the heir his parents always wanted, he was a good son, he was always a mile ahead from Regulus in the race for perfection, he was always on the lead when it came to meeting expectations. It seemed so easy for Sirius and Regulus admired him for it, instead of building resentment towards his brother, Regulus loved him unconditionally, strove to be (as his mother constantly demanded ) more like Sirius.
Regulus was a quiet child. He learned from an early age that mother liked him best when he was seen and not heard. He learned to find joy on books and solitude, in keeping to himself and playing with his imagination. There was of course, his bond with Sirius. He played with his brother and got in trouble for being loud. He made friends with Kreacher, reading him stories and having conversations in the attic about each other’s day.
He learned discipline and manners under his mother’s watch, he learned the consequence of being bad with tears in his eyes, the heavy hand of his mother and spells from his father. He learned to sit properly and what different forks were meant for. Tho he was still far from what his parents wanted of him, he was....Decent. Passable.
In magic, he was a late bloomer. His mother feared he would turn out to be a squib so she tried to force the magic out of him. Her methods caused him to mostly get hurt but the one that worked was locking him in a closet for hours on end. His magic blasting the door open in a blaze of fire and smoke. He was seven and despite his mother being proud, he cried for hours, quietly and in his room.
[ tw over ]
Three: Seeing Sirius leave to Hogwarts was terrifying. Being home alone scared him but there was nothing he could do about it, only wait for time to pass, try his very best to be good. And then....Came the letter. Regulus was ease dropping and he had never seen mother more angry. Gryffindor, she sneered. Sirius had landed on the wrong house and mother took that as a personal offence. Slytherin had been the house of every Black in history, being sorted somewhere else meant nothing good and it was as if Sirius, despite being always being good, had fallen from grace.
Four: When he turned eleven, there was a strange kind of tension at home. Sirius seemed different in the wrong ways and there was an invisible weight on Regulus shoulders. He had to do better than Sirius, he had to be what Sirius wasn’t and when all his life he had been told there was something lacking, doing better seemed an impossible task.
In his way to Hogwarts, Regulus didn’t feel nervous. He was terrified. There was an unspoken agreement or threat or something. You better not end up like Sirius. It wasn’t optional, he had to better and better was Slytherin. So as he sat in that stool in front of everyone, hands sweaty and heart pounding fast, he kept pleading to get sorted into Slytherin.
The Hat told him he would’ve been better suited in Hufflepuff, hard workers and reliable friends. He told Regulus he’d thrive there, find a home within the badgers easily. Slytherin was not the right fit for him but still, Regulus closed his eyes tightly and begged him to ignore that, begged him to make him a Slytherin. One minute of silence and the hat, reluctantly, called out Slytherin.
Five: His parents were proud. It was as if he had restored the family’s honour. Now all he had to do was elevate it. Become the best and brightest. Be what Sirius couldn’t be, what Sirius refused to be. So Regulus had an objective now, he worked hard in his classes to stay at the top which made it hard to make friends with others. He made it to the Quiddich team and trained harder than anyone else, got angry when his teammates didn’t do enough for them to win. He was bright and responsible, with bags under his eyes and a half smile on his lips and soon, Regulus became the good son. From being a spare, to stand on the spotlight, he was the rights to Sirius’ wrongs. Obidient, standing by his parents side, believing what they did. He knew too well what it was like to not be good enough, to feel Walburga and Orion’s disappointment heavy in the heart and it scared him to go back to that place when he had finally made them happy. Proud.
Six: Despite their difference, Regulus loved Sirius. Even as he changed, Regulus still loved and admired his older brother and while there was an undeniable distance between them, he never thought it would end up the way it did. Never in his wildest dreams did he thought Sirius would leave. Leave him. But the choice was made, the picture on the wall was burnt to the crisp, his name forever destroyed from the family tree.
Regulus clung to the railing of the stairs, a part of him wanting to chase after Sirius, grab his arm and beg him to stay. Or....Take me with you. But he didn’t. He closed his eyes tightly and pushed the feeling away. He was not like Sirius, he wouldn’t be able to live on his own, he would never fit in a world outside of what he knew. He had tried so hard to be what his parents expected of him that if he ran, if he chased after Sirius and left everything behind....What would be left? What was Regulus without all this things he was supposed to be?
He could have left but he was born weak.
Seven: Adapting to a wold without Sirius was easy. Loneliness had always been a friend and when he needed to talk to someone, too tired of the silence of House of Black, he could always go to the attic and found Kreacher there, with a cup of tea ready and biscuits to share. Still, the absence of Sirius was a heavy weight, it lingered on the halls and haunted every room. The ghost of the ex-son that should never be mentioned. He was there, in the back of everyone’s minds, like a buzzing energy that left the air filled with tension and anger. Sirius left a mess behind him and Regulus had to deal with the aftermath. With Walburga’s anger, with Orion’s frustration, picking up the pieces of what was supposed to be.
He was now the heir to the name Black, it was now his duty to carry the crown that was never meant to fit him. It was heavy and Regulus was not made to be king. He was too quiet, he was not very good with people, he was too kind, too soft around the edges but still, he took on the responsibility. He tried his best to glue the pieces back together, desperate to find a solution for what Sirius had done and then....Then came the whispers of a man seeking power. The gossip of an elite group. Only the best, only the most pure, only the worthy. Walburga Black, more than anything, desired status and to be above everyone. It was obvious what Regulus had to do to make her happy and yet, he didn’t want to do so. And Walburga made herself martyr, whispering about the disappointment that were her children.
So Regulus sold his soul. Signed the contract with the devil, ink on his arm to prove a loyalty that he didn’t felt. He had nowhere to go, nowhere to run. There was no one there to teach him how to get rid of the tight grip his parents had on him, no one to explain that pleasing them was wrong. When he realised what he had done, he regretted it in an instant but he willingly walked into the cage but perhaps.....He can find a way to finally be free.
ooc: holy shit this is way longer than i intended it to be but i think i covered everything i wanted to cover lmao. but anyway...........hello my pals, my name is mj and i will be playing dear regulus, a mess of a child who has no freaking clue what he is doing with his life but who is trying his best to figure it out. you know, your classic teen but with a whole lot more angst and an imminent war.

rod was born to two considerably elderly parents, they’d been trying for an heir for an incredibly long time so when he was born it was of the highest importance that they didn’t make any mistakes with him
his childhood consisted of harsh words and learning skill after skill and lesson after lesson in order to shape him into exactly what he needed to be
he was a quiet child, observant and he didn’t openly misbehave and yet there was always something to be punished for - they aimed to teach him discipline and disciplined he became
he inherited the lestrange good looks with his dark hair and shocking blue eyes as well as his father’s cool temperament, this was good news for them
when rabastan was born, he felt a sense of relief, believing some of the pressure would be taken from him but this wasn’t the case and thus he learned to suppress his emotions at an early age
at hogwarts he was very much a ringleader and commanded authority everywhere he went with both his name and natural air of dominance
he was well liked by teachers and never explicitly stated his views on blood purity outside of his circle even though they were heavily assumed
rodolphus always had high aspirations - within the death eaters and out - he had always aspired to be minister for magic and while it something said in jest to friends at school, it was also far from a joke
after his father’s legacy with the death eaters came to an end, the dark lord was eager to welcome rod to his troops upon hearing that he was very much his father’s son
being a death eater provided him with the power and control that he always craved and social situations were always limited in but it also tested his self-control
once he’d had a taste of this new world, it became increasingly difficult to keep his other aspirations in hand and his public image under control so he was forced to reign himself back in - he gained nothing but temporary pleasure from murder and violence, his career would leave more permanent satisfaction
so he made his way up the ranks in both the dark lord’s respect and ministry positions with careful discipline and restrained desires
his marriage to bellatrix was one of convenience and a good choice in terms of status for both of them but surprisingly it works as neither share too much affection for the other - nevertheless, he’s still not too pleased his wife is in love with someone else
for a while, an heir was a priority for him but eventually it become apparent this wouldn’t be the case and he’s slowly started to accept that he and rabastan may be the end of a long line of lestranges
while he believes heavily in blood purity, rod is only loyal to the dark lord on the surface. he sees the bigger picture, the likelihood of a leader dying is reasonably high and he sees himself at the face of the movement if that’s to be the case
the death of his father left him the head on the family and met with challenges that weren’t previously his problem, e.g. his timebomb brother which put a strain on the relationship in recent years
in the past year, he finally made his way up to senior undersecretary to the minister - only one step away from his ambition - which left him in a perfect position to cover up for his fellow death eaters and push an age
with all the added pressure and responsibilities, rod is finally beginning to crack and that’s shown mostly in moments of bloodlust
ANYWAY, thank you for coming to my very long and very delayed ted talk
character inspo: tommy shelby (peaky blinders), elijah mikaelson (tvd/to), tywin lannister (got), frank underwood (hoc), negan (twd), magneto (marvel)
character tropes: villian with good publicity, the chessmaster, aloof big brother, ‘blackmail’ is such an ugly word, cultured badass, noble male, roguish male (with rabastan), tall, dark and handsome, even evil has standards, faux affably evil
character aesthetics: black leather shoes, strong handshakes, whiskey tumblers, paperwork, reading glasses, forced smiles, uncomfortable silences, steely blue eyes, political speeches, daily prophet appearances, cold laughter, chess pieces, bloody hands, muttered incantations, rolling eyes, expensive suits
rita skeeter. twenty-three. cisfemale. she/her. bisexual. former ravenclaw. journalist at the daily prophet. poison pen, poison tongue. will ruin your life and not feel the tiniest bit bad about it. all she wants is glory. still disarmingly charming. had a pretty rough life, and will fight you if you bring it up. really loves wine.
her mom was p religious and didn’t really accept the fact that her daughter was a witch (more info about her family background in the character sheet challenge, which i’ll post in just a moment).
its not so much that she loves gossip that she loves shocking people. ok, she does love gossip, and she loves twisting it to make it work her way, but still. it’s the shock effect she relishes most.
is disarmingly charming and i could therefore picture her????? having friends?????? friends with benefits????? etc?????? like, they probs wont confide anything in her if they’re smart but i dont imagine her being friendless or anything like she never has to spend the night alone if she doesn’t want to
wants to be queen that’s it that’s the intro
ok no i guess that’s not enough
is soooooooo materialistic like the best way not to end up on rita’s bad side is buying her things. like, let’s be real, she does paint some people in a positive light, and that’s bc those people have given her something. literally. or she was just really drunk when she wrote the article. either way.
is not above sleeping with people to get a good story (or dirt to blackmail them into revealing some secrets to her). but also sleeps with people just for fun. really loves fun. and shiny things. and lollipops.
you’ll get more info on her in the character sheet challenge i’m about to post so yes! that’s it!!!!!! i hate rita but also i love her wow
