#this year has been one of the hardest and craziest of my life. that's not even counting all the political madness and general craziness of #today's world. like yeah we had. Everything the administration was doing and ai and disasters all over the world but there was also some #bright spots. kpop demon hunters and the Louvre heist and josh Johnson and Zorhan elected. some really really good things #I'm not even just talking about all that stuff because this whole year has been a wild ride for me personally too. the divorce and everythin #with my brothers. the fridge breaking. the heater breaking and we froze for like 10 days. I had pneumonia (which is probably why my lungs #are still weak and I've been sick since before Thanksgiving). Monster Calls and graduation and moving out. roommates and Lady Bird and #becoming a transformers fan. london and Shakespeare and video calls and floor time. Danny Motta and fanfiction and Pixel finishing ninjago #new friends like Astriar. new artistic skills unlocked. subway surfers addiction (fr fr I'm still struggling). Muppet love of my life #look OBJECTIVELY this year has been pretty bad. like genuinely so terrible. but some really great things have happened too. I'm a lot older #and wiser than I was a year ago. and my lungs sure are a lot weaker ahaha. this year had some REALLY low lows. some fairly high highs too #but getting to the end of the year--making it through -- and getting to see my friends and spend time with my family and feel loved and warm #and taken care of and safe has made it all feel worth it. Hey guys can we agree that the Aotearoa-based world having a total erasure of te ao and te reo Māori is kinda colonial and racist

#I've been busy but I heard the new world included in the new pack is gonna be based on aotearoa #I have literally wanted a small kiwi town world to be able to recreate my hometown and I am so disappointed #I get that they might not have wanted to misrepresent Māori culture but also. hire some Māori consultants who can help make sure everything #is accurate and respectful. because pretending like Māori culture doesn't exist in aotearoa isn't like. better #why the hell are other nonwestern cultures allowed to get represented in food and clothes and festivals #but the aotearoa world gets 'ok so we've got our American culture and hobbies but let's transplant them into a world with very superficial #New Zealand aesthetics'. SUMMER CAMP ISNT A THING HERE. FUCK RIGHT OFF #WHERE IS THE BUSH TRAMPING RABBIT HOLE. WHERE IS THE DAIRY LOT TYPE. WHERE IS THE CAMPGROUND LOT TYPE #also gibbi point is not a fucking kiwi place name. even if it isn't a te reo Māori place name no place name even remotely resembles gibbi #the erasure of even te reo Māori is infuriating. we have rabbits and sheep and cows just fine. but as soon as there's a bird with a name #that isn't white it's a fucking plumbird now. just calling it a takehe is so easy and you went out of your way to remove te reo Māori #why do we get komorebi and sulani and tomarang and ciudad enamorada as place names but not awa morearea (adventure river) or something #so you can't say that they want to keep place names either English or simlish. that's bullshit #and jellyfish?? that's not an aotearoa thing at all #if you wanted to do marine life we have so much. maui dolphins and albatross and seals and sea lions and whales and koura #and also the festivals are nothing to do with the festivals that really happen here #it would have been so cool if there was a festival inspired by matariki. and you could buy a hangi there and eat it at a picnic spot and #there'd be interactions like 'reflect on past year' and 'look to the sky' etc #and maybe there was an after school activity for kapa haka the kids could sign up for. and then at the festival a bunch of child townies do #a kapa haka performance for everyone. it was such a wasted opportunity to not do something like that smh my head #AND ANOTHER THINF. even the world doesn't look like a small kiwi town. especially not a coastal one #that arched bridge pisses me off. bridges don't look like that here. they are flat and boring and have graffiti on them like god intended #and there's no fire safety signs :( I bet there aren't even pohutakawa trees that have red flowers in the summer #also yeah the lack of a dairy and fish and chips shop is astounding. what the fuck kind of research did they do #but yeah there are so many activities for adventure I can think of that were missed opportunities because they are aesthetically congruent #with kiwiana. imagine a luge you could go down. imagine a bush rabbit hole where you can go tramping for a few hours. collecting kaimoana #from the beach. also I think there should be the tino rangatiratanga flag as an object you can buy in build mode #similar to the pride flags. except it's tino rangatiratanga and you can put it up in the windows of peoples houses like in real life #sorry for the vent but yeah #simblr

i know i shouldnt dwell on stupid opinions like this but a while ago i saw someone complain that Applin was a boring concept bc its just a worm in an apple and i was FLOORED. this iirc was in response to smth about gen 1 designs being boring as well

its not just a worm its a Wyrm its a pun. that is a concept. maybe you don't like it personally but to say its objectively bad is certainly Something. not every pokemon has to be based on a myth or something else fantastical to be a good concept. you Need "boring" pokemon for the dex to feel complete, if Everything is Cool then nothing is actually cool

"gamefreak is running out of ideas" yeah there's a billion fish pokemon but they're all actually very different to each other, lanturn is an anglerfish and lumineon is a butterfly fish. say what you will abt gamefreak rn its probably warranted but imo the one thing they still do right 100% of the time is unique concepts for each pokemon. the execution can be debated but the fundamentals are always there
