#year level

When applying for asap it asks for the "year of the program you are entering" I'll be at york for my 4th year but since I've been switched to the economics program it would be my second year in economics. Kinda confused, should I put 2 or 4?

You have to go according to the number of earned credits you have, not based on how many years you’ve been at York or in a program. If you’re considered 4th year then you should have 84 credits or more.

Hi, I'm finishing second year with a potential total of 60 earned credits so far.... In order to meet honours progression for my program will I need a 4.25 GPA because I am in second year, or a 4.80 GPA because the number of credits I've earned falls into the their year category?

You need a 4.80 GPA to continue in Honours if you have 60 earned credits. Year level is determined by the number of credits, and not based on how many years you took to complete those credits. So, currently you are third year, not second year.

Are there scholarships based only on gpas for individual years like not all 4 years?

Not that I know of. I’ve only ever seen cumulative gpa. But then again I’ve never bothered to use the award search. It may give you some results.

Hey yorku family! Hope your all doing well & enjoyed your thanksgiving. So I'm fairly confused on whether or not to update my osap because I've asked 2 advisors and they both gave me opposite advice. I have 24 credits so far and did undecided first yr. Second yr I got into the english program & took classes but dropped them all, however I didn't any eng courses. This yr I'm still only taking electives. So on osap I wrote I'm in my 2nd yr of my program. But credit wise I'm in my 2nd,

(Cont of osap change) & “technically” I’m in my third, however program wise it’s my first yr based on the fact that I nvr took english courses. I really need help guys lol. Oh, & great job on this blog. Seriously. I would’ve been lost without you guys haha.

Year level is based on credits, so you’ve filled in the right one if you wrote second year.

On osap I listed that I was in my 2nd year for my program, when really I'm in my 1st. I caught the mistake when I was reviewing my info. How can I inform them of the mixup? If I don't, what happens?

Fill out a change form asap or it could cause serious delays with your OSAP.

How do I apply for osap if I have to do 5th year to complete my degree? Do I submit app as 4th year student? Independent student? Continuing education? Osap only lists upto study year level 4

That would be because the year level is determined by the number of credits completed, not how many actual years you’ve gone to school. Because you are going to complete credits within the 4th year bracket, you would apply using the 4th year listed.

Hi! So it's my first time applying for OSAP after going to york for 2 yrs. My problem is that I recently did a program change and it got accepted as of April. Since i'm applying for the first time, it asks about my program; my program is now BA economics 90 credits. So is that a 3 year program? Also, since I recently got accepted, it asks what year am I going in the program, but I did all the 1st yr courses before I got accepted, and I'm going to take 2nd yr courses this year, so what do I put?

Yes that’s a 3 year program.

Year level is based on credits, so if you finished 0-23 credits then you’re still in first year. If you’ve completed 24-54 credits then you’re considered a second year student. Remember to only count credits for courses you’ve passed, failed courses are not given credit.
