Antarc wakes up on the moon AU

antarcphos if you squint... it's angst time

Antarc was used to unwinding the exhaustion that came with sleeping for most of your days. Attempting to form your body and mind from a puddle of consciousness- both in a literal and metaphorical sense- was something they'd simply accepted and dealt with their entire life. But they can't ever recall it being quite this intense. 

They felt as though their body had been stitched together, and somewhat badly at that. Molecules and atoms struggled to join, pushing against one another in quiet rebellion. As their sight came into focus, they didn't recognize anything. The once large lattice window was now replaced by a grand archway, showing off a twinkling canvas that felt so, so dark. 

Looking back behind them, Antarc noticed two figures. One stood tall, in strange clothes they'd never seen, with messy hair and a face that made a firm feeling of distrust settle in their body. The other felt more familiar. It was a gem, certainly, but with a head they hadn't seen in eons and a facial expression that didn't match. 

"...Lapis?" The words dribbled out of their mouth, language sloppy after years of not speaking. Lapis's hair was short, with a strange eye, and clothes even more alien than the first figure's. Oh, but the arms. Those golden, impossible arms, now slowly turning to mush. Antarc's eyes jerked back up and they weren't met with the gaze of Lapis Lazuli. That was... 

"P-Phosphyllite?" Antarc struggled to stand in the shallow tub, nearly cracking their stomach on the side, barely catching themselves and leaning haphazardly over the side as their hands carefully rested upon the cheeks of Phos's face. Phos seemed stuck in a state of shock, the only movement being the golden tears leaking uncontrollably from the corners of their eyes.

Cracks splintered along the bridge of Phos's nose, spreading across their face, down their cheeks, across their lips and down to their chin. The gold took on the wishes of the subconscious, awakening and enveloping the two in a wall of alloy. It was protective, desperate, and charged with more emotion than Phos ever knew what to do with. 

"What happened to you?" Antarc muttered, words meant for just the two of them, here in this golden bubble. Their hands carefully traced the cracks in Phos's face. They pushed in certain places, as though attempting to make the cracks disappear. "You're always breaking." The two of them shared a sad little laugh. "How did this even happen?" 

Phos's expression turned into a strange and uncomfortable mix of sheepish, embarrassed, and upset. "I keep losing parts of myself but I can't seem to lose how much of a dummy I am."
