A/N - Mary, here have this as a "Congratulations on finishing your exams fic. I tried :P)
Onew cradled Jonghyun's head in his lap. It wasn't meant to end this way, they were meant to have years and years together, years enough to fill a library with memories. But here they were, with Jonghyun lying in his lap, Onew’s tears on his face.
“Hyung, it’s raining, put on a jacket.” Jonghyun pushed weakly at the jacket covering him. “Take this.”
Onew just shook his head, furiously blinking away tears so he could see Jonghyun’s face properly.
“Hyung, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”
“I’m not, it’s j-just the rain.”
Jonghyun smiled, he could hear the tremble in Onew’s voice. Onew cried easily, over the smallest things, but it didn’t mean his tears hurt Jongyun any less.
“I’m going to be fine hyung, trust me.”
Onew nodded, biting his lips from saying anything else.
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine…” Jonghyun began to croon, the gentle song of their childhood, the song they had sung together so many times as they grew up when the days looked dark.
Onew had always loved Jonghyun’s voice, and hearing the song now, he almost broke.
“…please don’t take my sunshine away.” Jonghyun smiled at Onew and his eyes slid shut, looking like he had just fallen asleep.
Onew took one last look at Jonghyun and placed him gently on the ground. He swept up the jacket Jonghyun had pushed at him and pushed his arms through the sleeves. The old, soft leather molded itself to his body. Turning away, he picked up Jonghyun’s fallen firearm and walked back into the darkness.
