“well, i won’t disagree.” comments on yeonha’s appearance will always be cherished. they don’t come often. she always exudes her overconfidence, but deep down, what person isn’t even a little bit insecure? there are a few incidents she finds herself recounting, the sole reason her ego fell a couple feet. it was years ago by now, but her young heart refuses to forget those times in which her father’s friends would mistake her as a boy. with hair cut shorter than it is now, and no hints of any ‘girly’ colors in her outfits of choice, it probably should’ve been expected to happen sooner or later. she was almost sure it had become a running joke between the elders. not her father, no, but his friends – they were grown men that won’t be told what to do.
moving on from that, well, yeon doesn’t really find herself dressing up much. or at least.. being attracted to pretty, floral, frilly designs and patterns. makeup doesn’t interest her very much, shopping is something she’ll do if she’s got to or her mom wants to, but it’s not like a favorite pastime, not her first choice. she’s quite masculine, and because of that, is almost a little shocked each time she’s called pretty.
her eye for fashion, or style in general is… nonexistent. this is why her mother picks outfits for her to choose from. why her mother suggests which way to wear her hair, what type of makeup to put on if she uses any at all. so when sophie asks yeonha what she’d think about the elder having short hair too, she has no fucking clue what to say. her initial response and thoughts are yeah, you’d look pretty with any length, but she’d like to let the other girl know she actually debated over this instead of just mindlessly saying something to shut her up. takes a few seconds to really look at the woman in detail, head tilted, lip bitten, clearly lost in focus. “i think it’d look really nice at your shoulders, yeah.”
“ At my shoulders? ” Sophie’s view changed from the girl in front of her towards her long strands of hair. She hadn’t had a haircut since some time now, the long, black hair paired with some extensions being the hair she had been assigned to for her group’s comeback. Now since promotions had been going on for quite a while she was allowed to ask for a haircut. She liked to have shoulder long hair in summer due to the warmth and sun, but she was unsure if it would suit her if she went for more hair, leaving her with a short haircut, like her friend's. “ I always have them cut to this point, ” her fingers reached up towards her shoulder, clipping her hair abover her chest to show Yeonha the lenght she was used to. “ But I’d like to have them shorter… Maybe like your hair? Or even shorter than that ! I’m just scared it won’t fit me. Did you choose your hairstyle yourself? ”
For Sophie it was important to look beautiful since it was something that is expected from idols. On one hand it was nice to have stylists who told her what would look good on her, on the other hand it was bothersome since people tended to tell her that she shouldn’t pick certain styles because they didn’t fit her or her image. It didn’t help that Sophie wasn’t keen on fashion and therefore had no single clue on how to wear certain things or styles. She was clueless and dependent on her stylists.
“ Maybe I should ask for short hair for our next comeback... Or I should pick a time where we don’t have many schedules ! Then I can try out a short hairstyle and have my hair grow for our next comeback, what do you think? Taking care of short hair is easier than for long, isn’t it? What’s the longest your hair has been? “
