Hi SDC, for the questions for authors:7, 10 and 14
Hi lovely! Thank you so much for sending this over! :)
7. Which part of writing do you struggle with most?
I struggle the most with giving a story room to breathe. I’m fairly regimented in writing and stick to a set schedule, but sometimes a story really does just need some space and time for things to percolate. I get too impatient and often have to remind myself to step back every once in awhile. It’s hard to do but I’ve always found that it helps in the end and I’m usually happier with the content because of it.
10. Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?
I really like all three, but I think dialogue paired with exposition is my favorite! As a reader, I enjoy when I get a sense of what the character is thinking and feeling during dialogue, especially in emotionally fraught scenes, so I like writing that combo as well (although I do realize sometimes dialogue needs to move).
14. If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick?
My instinct is to say SanSan but I wouldn’t want to intrude on their canoodling! They need their alone time together without me being a third wheel that cheers on their carnal passion. I’ll say Sally from Thunderstruck because he’d be a calming presence and Arya because she’d be super entertaining and probably resourceful too!
Thank you again!
