—hello!!! i just wanted to let all bh initiates know that, “(krystal voice) if you place beneath the top 20 in the exams you’re going to have a shit time here. baek ho doesn’t house neanderthals.” 

that being said, if any baek ho initiates wants to plot (!!) krystal’s in the market for a “mentee”, errand girl, and you know, maybe just a punching bag.

ALSO if any initiates wants to be like, ah yes, same aged friend that met once upon a time in summer or sth then fast-forward to this hot mess i would love that sort of plot too (”:

krystal is generally indifferent toward initiates but that doesn’t mean she’s nice. like aegi/shin canon she’s hard-ass for baek ho traditions and also abuses this privilege she’s earned. basically—10/10 will make you drop and do pushups while reciting calc theorems at random (especially if you bother/annoy her like if you breathed too loud/did something dumb etc). she won’t talk to you if you rank lower than 20 in your class because she doesn’t consider and likely asked you for an academic transcript at the beginning of hell week. but she DOES lightly (very lightly) help tutor if you ask (and the stars align and she’s in a good mood) nicely and isn’t stupid about it. keep in mind that she’s disinterested but also has a p short fuse given the exams stress!

that being said, your fellow initiates are your future sisters so if any of you start with this sabotage bs (you’re not even aegi you don’t get a pass), she’ll likely shut it, you, everyone involved down. 👀👀👀 (hates drama don’t let her catch you starting drama, really. no drama let her live third year in peace)

Finals season is always the same: the library packed, people stressed out everywhere. Some sort of electrifying, horrible atmosphere in the air. Something way too close to desperation. It’s horrifying. Taehyun completely despises it. And yet here he sits, on the goddamn packed library, by the side of no other than Krystal. He shouldn’t complain, not really. The girl is the top of their class, probably half of the school would be killing to be able to study with her. And Taehyun had that whole privilege all for himself. He shouldn’t be complaining, not at all. 

But shit, he just feels so annoyed.

He has been on edge for weeks now, this is nothing new. The way his skin prickles with the most pathetic things: someone sneezing weirdly, a pack of girls walking on the corridor hand in hand and not letting him pass, the sound of the school’s alarm, the way the History teacher speaks with an inflection always in the last word of every sentence. That smart ass kid in his class who always has to make comments as if anyone fucking asked.

The way Krystal keeps hitting her pen on the table’s surface.

“Can you stop that?” Taehyun asks suddenly, his voice harsh “It’s infuriating.”

He was amused. 

Had her own rules ever applied to her? Not in the slightest. Which most likely was why he had a hard time following her carefully constructed set of rules. He wasn’t much of a fan for rules regardless but the only one that they had agreed upon was that they should not be seen interacting with each other for her sake, her reputation because he could care less about his own. 

“Nothing.” 

He should have walked away, ending whatever rise she wanted to get out of him this time. But when had he ever done what was expected and best for the both of them? If he was gasoline, she was the one holding the match between her slender fingers, always flirting with the idea of releasing it. 

“I don’t think much about you.” But he had that afternoon when he had seen her on the streets of Seoul and he didn’t understand why he had been compelled to talk to her. His body had gravitated towards her first and his mind followed after a momentary lapse of confusion. “What did you think was going to happen? I didn’t take you for a hopeless romantic.”

( * what he had not expected was to injure his hand before the weekend even started and a mild sprain of the wrist hadn’t seem like a viable excuse for skipping out on the family dinner. he would have preferred to stay hauled in his bedroom, studying but he couldn’t use his right hand. besides family dinner only happened once a month and leaving kangmi on her own with their parents seemed unfair. the two siblings were better together especially when they needed something and currently there was a camera he had been eyeing for the past week but unfortunately the purchase would exceed his credit card limit. the general had reminded him that there were teenagers his age with bigger problems on their hand and she had refused to allow him to purchase. the gravity of personal problems was subjective because they were personal, he had told her. his answer wasn’t well received and that had been the end of that conversation. ) ( * he stepped out of his bedroom, locking the door behind him to the best of his ability. his tie was currently resting on his shoulders and he was fussing with the bandages wrapped around his wrist that he barely paid attention to the figure making it’s way down the hallway as he turned the corner. ) oh- what.. ( * his voice trailed off, knowing better than to ask her what she was doing in the building. partly because he didn’t care and partly because she wasn’t much into conversing, specifically with him. ) can you do me a favor? i’m having trouble with my tie.. ( * he lifted his bandaged hand as to give her the reason why, faint smile on his lips. )

4. holding their hand for the first time(closed!)tw: homophobic slur / tw: hazing

The atmosphere that surrounds them is heavy, packed with unsaid words and painful memories. She is sitting by his side, legs stretched in front of her, hands grasping the grass as she stares at some place Taehyun has no idea of - she doesn’t explain to him, she doesn’t talk about it. But Taehyun can see it, clear as day in her expression, in the way her lips curl. He wishes to ask, to listen to whatever happened to her, for her to just tell him, explain to him. But now, Taehyun understands words are just that. Words.

“What did they tell you?”

“Nothing.”

“Did they call you names?”

“You know they did.”

“What did they call you?”

“Why do you wanna know?”

He has heard it now, many, many times. he has been called a cocksucker, a girl, a sissy and god knows what else. But they are words, just that. He tries to tell himself that. They are just words. They can’t hurt him, not anymore. And he always feels stupid complaining to whatever the third years are doing to him. How can he even be mad when he got a free pass, when all he gets is that endless taunting, but he already has his own room, bought with nothing but his name? By all means, Krystal should have that room, but she doesn’t. So when he looks at her, all he can feel is guilt and shame.

“It’s just words.” He says, quietly, and Krystal shrugs. It passes a moment and then Taehyun feels thin fingers lacing his own, shyly but also determined. She doesn’t say anything. She just holds Taehyun’s hand tightly, eyes still focused at the sky, or at the trees, or somewhere far far away. He wishes he could tell her how much that means to him, how much he treasures this small moment, how much he will ever treasure it. But all he does it hold her hand back. He doesn’t need to say anything.

Words, they are just that. Just words.

he was never a man of many words, but this was really taking it to a new level.

with each passing second, he could feel his life expectancy wittering down like the wick of an explosive. the deafening silence merely served as a backdrop for the cacophony of pounding of blood and screech of white noise filling his own ears. it was the match of the century as to what would claim his neck first - his own internal excruciating suffering or the vixen sitting across the table from him.

of course a good portion of student body had their fair share of near-death encounters with the notoriously icy persona, but this was something else. another second facing off against that paralyzing glare of hers, and he was certain that he’d begin turning to stone on the spot. she hadn’t said a word to him this entire time, and the tower of student council work laid untouched on one corner of the table. he made a mental note to rip jaewook to shreds for assigning the two of them together - but then again, how was anyone supposed to know the tragic sequence of events that had occurred between the two?

his brows furrowed in utter frustration while his long fingers drummed erratically on the wooden surface. she didn’t need to utter a word for him to clearly hear the spite laced in her voice. but what wrenched his gut the hardest was the fact that things used to be good and well.

god damn. what had happened to them?

well obviously he knew what happened; he just had no way of comprehending the consequences or recuperating for irreversible damage. he could feel that his own previously unrelenting glare wavered momentarily into a vulnerable gaze, so he ripped his eyes away from her. he wouldn’t allow her the satisfaction of knowing that her presence disturbed his usually stoic, perfectly cool facade. instead he heaved an evidently aggravated sigh, abruptly slamming his hands down on the table as he barked at her.

 “you do know you have a mouth? why don’t you try opening it for once?”

He doesn’t recall who convinced who but the sole reason why he attended the weekend trip was to spend time with Jaebum, who had wanted to get away from Sunhwa Academy. He had fooled himself into thinking that they could choose their own roommates and be able to at least break some rules together but he had been wrong, which shouldn’t come as a surprise since his expectations had been rather low since the announcement of the trip. 

But now he was in a completely different pension as his bestfriend, two doors away from his ex-girlfriend, and rooming with Bobby, who he wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about the male. Their relationship was surface level, a few glances and a nod for acknowledgement. Perhaps, they would have gotten closer or had any chance at a friendship if their perspective bestfriends would work out their differences but Jiyong and Jaebum’s relationship was out of his control. Jiyong was currently on topics blacklisted between the two and he didn’t dare prod Jaebum’s mind. It was a beast better left alone, in peaceful slumber and only awakened when Jaebum saw fit. 

He had come back from an excursion at the beach and his mood had soured when he spotted the cellphone on bobby’s bed. 

He should have left the cellphone on the bed. 

He should have ignored the fact that only one person had that certain case and it wasn’t Bobby’s.

He should have done a lot things including  not entering the passcode that corresponded with the owner of the cellphone. 

Krystal. 

He wasn’t in the mood to deal with her or even interact with her for .5 seconds in giving her the phone back. What the fuck was she doing in his room in the first place? From what he knew, Bobby and her were acquaintances. He grabbed his towel and went to shower, taking the phone with him without a thought. He heard the door creak open while he was changing, surprisingly enough to find the owner of the mysterious phone, currently searching for it underneath the bed. 

“Are you looking for this?” He questioned, leaning against the door frame of the bathroom adjoined to their room. He held her cellphone between his fingers in a careless manner. “If you think you are going to get your cellphone back so easily, you’re mistaken...”

“Now enlighten me. What the hell were you doing in my room?”
