Again. It was happening again. Liam had run off without telling her and he’d been gone for nearly the entire day -longer than he’d ever been gone before. The poor mother hen was a worried wreck; so much so that’d she’d called in a favor at the DPD and put together a task force to help her scour the Detroit area. The weather seemed to match her mood: cold foggy, and foreboding. She’d brought his jacket along with her, knowing he always forgot to bundle up.
Empty alleyway after empty alleyway, the more she searched, the more anxious she became. What if terrible something happened? What if some Red Ice urchins got ahold of him? What if he’d hurt himself somehow?
Her heart lifted when she turned a corner and saw Bear, but it immediately shattered again when she realized the dog was alone and whimpering. Harper’s eyes filled with tears, placing a hand on the dog’s head. “Where is he, girl? Do you know?” Her was voice cracked and shaky. There was no way the dog would ever part with Liam unless something was very wrong. Bear suddenly took off, prompting the detective to follow.
In the distance, a familiar form wandered amid the fog. “Liam!” She shouted, wasting no time and running to him as fast as her legs would allow.
