Story Undercut

[It's been days since I saw you... I wonder where you are right now...] Mahiru Masaomi lay in his bed later that night, his mind filled with thought after thought. Even though most his days were filled with food battle talk, Mahiru couldn't help but keep returning to the thought of his brother. Why had he shown up like that? After so many years and he just appeared. And without a word... Didn't Aoba have things to say? Didn't he want to talk? Catch up? Mahiru turned over, a terrible feeling in his stomach. He had imagined so many times over the years what it would be like when he finally found Aoba again. Would the two of them cry? Hug? Live together again? Nothing prepared him for the look in his brother's eyes he saw the other day on the streets. He didn't seem like the Aoba Mahiru remembered growing up with. As kids, Aoba was always the protective older brother. He was someone Mahiru had always looked up to and admired, but he couldn't detect even an ounce of that Aoba in his brother. What had the past ten years been like for him? Had the world treated Aoba as well as it had treated Mahiru? Why did he seem so... so cold. Closing his eyes, Mahiru tried his best to clear his mind so he could go to sleep. All he wanted to do was sleep. But ever since Aoba had popped back into his life, Mahiru was finding sleep something almost impossible to do.
