And some vaguely ymbryne themed imagery, that was totally not just a ploy to make myself do some serious-ish studies for once

random thought: why aren't there described to be more loops that focus on certain needs revolving around peculiarities? also on that same topic, why are peculiar children placed in loops that honestly, they shouldn't be placed in the first place? the carinholm loop for example. it is misty, cold, and foggy. i feel like a loop like this could benefit someone like fiona given her abilites with plants, and persons like bronwyn and victor wouldn't mind because they don't need a certain climate or type of day to influence what they can or cannot do. but olive's ability is floating. hugh's ability is (simply put) bee-keeping. are these conditions of the loop not good for what their peculiarities are? constant misting and cold weather sounds awful for someone that (when able to float around and wants to float around) is hit with cold wind and someone that is surrounded by animals that cannot function properly in chilling conditions. there is also the other side of this, in which im under the impression that it would be more beneficial if some peculiars were placed around those similar to them. enoch, horace, and millard all have peculiarities that are different compared to the average elemental based peculiarities, and all have specific and odd needs surrounding their abilities. wouldn't it be more benefical to not only the children but all of peculiar society if they could be grown and taught around like-minded people? i understand wanting diversity, but someone that is constantly stuck in night terrors and someone that is prevelent to have ignited hands i don't think mix well. now what about the children that initially grew up in a contrasting environment that are the suddenly placed somewhere that there are not used to at all? example, salvador is decribed to have been raised in spain where it was sunny and hot, but for some reason was placed in a loop where it is the exact opposite. what is the deciding factor in choosing loops for a child? it isn't based on what ymbryne finds them, we have been told that a ymbryne can find a child and temporarily hold onto them until they find a "permanent" home. but some of these choices it seems are so odd. i understand there isn't an endless amount of ymbrynes, and not all of them can carry 11, 12, 13 or more children. but it doesn't seem right to me that a child can be placed somewhere they absolutely should not be placed, whether that be because of their peculiarity and its needs or what they were used to for a majority of their life before being looped.

Rereading the Library of Souls, I was confused by a couple of things

At the beginning, when Emma, Jacob and Addison were on the train after escaping from the wights, they had a dialogue about Claire and Fiona. Addison mentions gas, which is disgusting to the peculiars (as far as I remember). Emma is outraged, because wights promised not to use it anymore. I don't understand why she's outraged, because wights did a lot of shitty things, and an unfulfilled promise is everything

The second moment is already at the end, during the 1st battle of the Devil's Acre. While they were fighting, Bronwyn says that they must continue, because wights will still be chasing them. Wight in the pit talks about signing a contract, and Miss P replies that they signed one once, and it wasn't even worth the toilet paper it was written on

That is, they also drew up some kind of contract with them. Given the first point, he may have been touching the gas.

Considering all this, are you saying that the Ymbryns signed a contract with wights, the ones who made some kind of gas, killed the peculiars, destroyed the loops, and did a lot more? What were they trying to achieve with this piece of paper? What will they stop? It's kind of doubtful.

The idea of Ymbrynes displaying avian traits specific to their bird form is absolutely hilarious to me. Owl ymbrynes who are always up late, corvids who love to collect trinkets, shrikes whose favorite food are kebabs, parrots who have a habit of repeating words, a kookaburra who has a very distinctive laugh, etc etc!! It’s a HC that I think adds a whole new layer of character depth and I think makes the ymbrynes seem just a bit more human :)
