Often, Kuchen liked to stay in the kitchen during late hours. He spent most of his time thinking of all sorts of recipes that he could do with his chocolate or perfecting existing ones just so he could retain his pride as the top chocolatier. Sometimes, he would even set aside that time to taste test some of the chocolate sent to him by his juniors.

Tonight, he decided to give it a try after receiving a box of chocolates from a friend he made in another country. Except, this time, he couldn't help but bring company with him as he took off the lid of the box and held it up for you to choose.

"Pick one. He said that they're all different flavours so we won't get to taste the same ones." As he said this, he already picked out a heart shaped piece and popped into his mouth, closing his eyes to gauge its taste. "This one's pretty good."

You haven't picked out anything, though. So he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and shoot you a questioning glance, asking you, "not up for it tonight?"

You shook your head in response as you tried to word your thoughts. "No, it's nothing like that. I was just about to ask you if we could split each one so we can get a taste of everything but you already started eating so I guess that's off the table."

Kuchen paused. He hadn't thought of that. He let out a sigh as he put his hand behind his neck as a small smirk decorated his face when an idea came to him. "You know, the taste is still there. If you want, I could give you a taste, you little devil."

"L-Little devil? Where did that come from?" You snapped yourself out of your daze. "No, wait a minute. Your whole suggestion is ridiculous! I can't believe you…"

"What? I'm serious though." He winked, "just give me the word and I'm yours to taste.

KUCHEN’S PAST STORY #2

When I was 16 years old, my parents suggested that I become an apprentice to a certified master chocolatier. While pursuing my ideal chocolate, I spent my days absorbing various techniques from my mentor. Two years after I began my studies in earnest, I became a master chocolatier at an exceptionally young age. I continued to win numerous awards, and it wasn't long before I had my own restaurant. But then I hit my first wall. CHOCOLATIER 1 : What do you think, Mr. Kuchen? KUCHEN : Not smooth enough. Tempering must be done more carefully. CHOCOLATIER 1 : I've already done it over and over again. How can I keep this up?

KUCHEN : Remember what I taught you and do it better. I'll watch you when I can. CHOCOLATIER 2 : How about this one? KUCHEN : The corner of the detailing is crooked. Redo it. CHOCOLATIER 2 : It is impossible to make them all exactly the same! You are not going to get the number of products that you need to break even! KUCHEN : I can't release something that isn’t finished perfectly. I made no compromises at all in order to achieve the ideal I was striving for. (Raising the level of the entire industry of chocolatiers, workshops and cocoa bean producers. That would be the short version of the ideal which I pursue.) CHOCOLATIER 1 : Mr. Kuchen. Please let me quit the store. KUCHEN : ......Oh, you too. CHOCOLATIER 1 : Sorry, I wasn't cut out for this. KUCHEN : All your effort will pay off...If you don't give up and― CHOCOLATIER 1 : This is the result of my efforts! This is my limit! I don't have any talent at all! No matter how hard I try, I'll never be like you! I was a chocolatier who had won many prizes and competitions. Thanks to that, the shop attracted a large number of workers at first, but this soon faded away. CHOCOLATIER 2 : I joined this shop because I admired you. But I'm losing confidence more and more. CHOCOLATIER 3 : I can't make it right. No matter what I do, I can't make it at all. If I think about my future, I need a job that fits my worth. Those who quit the store, and even their dream of being chocolatiers, used me as an excuse. KUCHEN : (After only one year, that's all I had left.) I knew my methods were wrong. But I would never change. It would be like the death of me as a chocolatier. (...... I can't do this alone.) Since there was no one to staff the restaurant, it naturally became untenable, and I soon had to close shop. Was I disappointed in myself? Or was I disappointed in those who let me down? Regardless, I was so tired that I turned to my hometown for the first time in a long time.

Kuchen, by all means, is someone who prioritized his work before anything else. If it weren't for his bad habit of fooling around with women every now and then to unwind, he'd definitely be considered a workaholic who's married to his job. That being said, it was difficult to find out what his ideal type is when he isn't interested in committing to a relationship in the first place.

But force an answer out of him and he'll reply with something like how he wants to be with someone who won't get in the way of his work. A little vague and totally something that can drive anyone interested in a relationship with him away — it was as if he saying his work would be more important than his potential partner. He would be lying if he said that was untrue though, he holds his work and craft very close to his heart.

Perhaps after a little bit of character development, it wouldn't be too far off to say that Kuchen's taste has changed a little bit. Maybe instead of answering the question with a lazy reply, he'll answer with something more coherent; something that was put more thought into. Kuchen would like someone hardworking, someone who could support him wholeheartedly, and someone who wasn't too clingy — whatever that last part is.

He has met a lot of people in his lifetime and it's hard to say for sure that the ideal type he mentioned would be the one he would fall for in the future. Love is blind; you don't get to choose who to love. Kuchen was no exception, his ideal type was just someone he's more inclined to be with. Who knows? Maybe he'll fall in love with someone who's the complete opposite.
