I Am Yogost, 509 Dunsmuir St, Vancouver (Downtown), BC V6B 1Y4, Canada
I am not sure if the name of the shop is Yogost, I Am Yogost, or Hey! I Am Yogost. Yogost was founded in Shenzhen, China, in 2017, with a specialization in healthful, all-natural yogurt drinks made with purple rice and real fruit. The yogurt contains live and active cultures. Purple rice yogurt drinks were positioned as the healthier alternative to boba drinks.
The yogurt drinks were labeled as a meal replacement (it’s a yogurt smoothie). Drink types: chewy yogurt, mochi yogurt, yogurt slush, fruit yogurt, Yakult drinks. You can specify the level of sweetness and ice and add toppings: oats, pearls, purple rice, red beans, whipped cream, coconut jelly, crystal balls ($1), coconut milk jello, jasmine tea jello, mochi, osmanthus jello, yogurt milk foam, pop oats, pop water chestnuts ($1.50). The add-ins sounded interesting. They also offer yogurt foam, which I haven’t seen elsewhere. It’s made with yogurt and cream cheese, so it’s like the salted cheese foam but with yogurt.
There was a case for baked buns with fillings, but it was empty. Perhaps they sold out or didn’t have any (it was a holiday).
Oats cereal rice yogurt, 0% sugar ($7.50 CAD): It tasted like plain yogurt but slightly sweetened by the soaked oats. I liked the slight sourness. It was also nice that they included a bit of the purple rice. The oats were a bit gummy. The drink should be shaken before drinking.
Frozen yogurt bark was a seasonal offering at select Yogost locations (though it wasn’t available at this location). The store was small but cute with white walls, white furniture, and wood laminate flooring.
Hey! I Am Yogost Offers Sweet and Healthier Alternative
I admit, I have been indulging myself lately on a lot of different milk tea brands, which isn’t exactly the healthiest beverage around. But what if I told you that I finally found a drink that lets you have the best of both worlds? It lets you enjoy your sweet treat while still keeping you on track with your health goals. Not only that, it’s also both refreshing and filling at the same time because it combines yogurt and rice in one unique beverage. Yes, that’s rice inside my drink! Let’s all welcome the newest alternative to our daily cravings, Hey! I am Yogost!
I never thought of mixing yogurt with oats and purple rice, but it actually works! Every cup of Yogost drink is made with all-natural probiotic yogurt that has the right balance of sweetness and tanginess specially customized for the Filipino sweet tooth. I know we Filipinos love rice, but even inside our yogurt drinks? For its sinkers, Yogost mainly uses naturally sweet and chewy purple rice, known as a superfood for its high concentration of antioxidants. Hey! I am Yogost started in 2017 and has become a massive phenomenon around the world with 71 stores in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China, Canada and Malaysia, and now in the Philippines as well.
The first Yogost Philippines branch opened just last March in Ayala Malls Manila Bay with a second branch opening afterwards in Greenhills Promenade. This may not have been the best time to open, but it’s great that I could still try out their signature yogurt drinks even during the quarantine. They are available through Grab Food, Food Panda and Lalafood, so I could still enjoy these Yogost drinks in the comforts of my home.
Each of us had our own favorites among the many colorful variants offered by Yogost. All of these come with fresh all-natural Greek yogurt which has twice as much protein as traditional yogurts and is rich in Calcium, Vitamin B-2, Vitamin B-12, Potassium and Magnesium. Combined with the essential nutrients in your favorite fruits, this will improve gut health, boost metabolism, aid muscle growth, and strengthens your bones.
Yogost drinks are offered in four different series, featuring the best flavors that you could imagine for a sweet treat. If you simply want the creamy goodness of sweet and tangy yogurt, then the Rich Series should be your first option.
Start with the signature Yogost Purple Rice (P125) and discover how Yogost perfectly balances the natural flavors of yogurt and purple rice, specially customized for the Filipino sweet tooth. Think of drinking a bottle of Yakult but one that is infused with much more flavors and ingredients. Instead of just the usual pearls, this one comes with purple rice, a healthier and more filling alternative. It’s a drink and merienda all in one!
There’s also Would Jujube my Date (P135), a yogurt drink with jujube and purple rice that’s part of the Blossom Series which combines unique flavors from around the world.
My favorites are actually part of the Fruit Series which comes with real fruits perfectly blended with yogurt. It Takes Two To Mango (P140) and Love You Strawberry Much (P140) are two of the top favorites around the world, especially for their vibrant colors. These drinks are actually a good meal substitute as well due to the presence of mixed grains. It’s delicious, addictive and filling without being overly indulgent.
For something light and refreshing, the VC Series should be your choice with its yogurt infused with green tea that is rich in antioxidants and real fruits high in Vitamin C. Orange You The Sweetest? (P150) and Berry Zest Friend (P150) come with fresh oranges, strawberries, and lemon combined with yogurt and green tea. I finished an entire bottle by myself because it’s just so fun to drink.
You can also adjust the tanginess level of your order according to your preference. Original is their signature blend, but if you want it extra tangy, you can Double the yogurt at no additional cost. You can also customize the sweetness level to your liking. Hey! I am Yogost has been the best discovery of the quarantine period for me, and it’s something that I can indulge in every single day. Message them through Viber at 0956-7108317 or order through one of the food delivery apps for your new daily habit!
Straw and Berries Yogost I like the taste of the yoghurt drink that is creamy and not too sweet. There was also a decent amount of tiny strawberries chunks in there that I could easily sip out of the big straw. #strawberry #strawberries #yogost #strawberryogost #strawberriesyogost #strawberryyoghurt #strawberryyoghurtdrink #yoghurt #yoghurtdrink #yoghurtdrinks (at Queen Street, Auckland) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6kaNroFTC5/?igshid=eet4nc4yvilk
Trying out the relatively new Yogost. The hype has died down at this point so there was no queue but there were a few people waiting for their drinks. We tried the Purple Rice Yoghurt drink and it was not bad. The drink tasted like liquid yoghurt that was slightly tangy and sweet. I like that the drink is not overly sweet. I also like the chewy purple rice that is soft in some areas and chewy in others. While the cup is cute, I think the serving size could be a bit bigger for the price paid. While it was tasty, I don't think it would be something I would crave for because I'm not usually a fan of yoghurt or sweet drinks. I usually just drink water, sometimes Vanilla Coke Zero.
