Byeol happily made her way into the company building, moving to the individual studios. She had been feeling much more like herself lately and had even gotten back into making her music and writing lyrics. She felt much more like her old self and like she was truly starting to move on.
So, when Jaebeom had called and asked her to go help out some of the younger artists, she was more than happy too. She reached the studio she was looking for and knocked; a large smile on her face and rocking back and forth on her feet. She always got excited when it came to helping others grow musically.
The door opened and she smiled even brighter, jumping into the slightly shorter male’s arms. “LIX! Oh, your noona has missed you!” She said, purposely being overdramatic. Felix caught her easily, blushing a little. “I guess I’ve missed you too, noona.” He beamed, putting her back on the ground.
She scoffed, ruffling his hair and stepping inside. “JB told me you needed some help. So, hit me! I’m at your service.” She bowed and Felix laughed, sitting back in the seat. “I like to see that you’ve gotten your spark back.” He winked and Byeol bit her lip. “Yeah. It’s been really nice to feel like my old self.”
Felix smiled, clapping his hands together. “So! I’ve been trying to get more into producing and making music, but I’m, struggling, to say the least. And I’ve always really liked the tracks you’ve made and admired how hard you work on it. I was wondering if you could take a listen and give me some pointers.” He looked away, running his fingers through the blonde mullet adorning his head.
Byeol chuckled, pinching his cheek. “You’re so cute. Of course, I can! Gimmie the headphones.” Felix’s cheeks flushed once again as he handed her the headphones. She slipped them on and he saw her go from the hyperactive Moon, to the serious producer Byeol. It was one thing that him and the rest of the company admired so much about her.
She worked harder than most, always feeling like she needed to prove something. But the duality of her switching from her happy-go-lucky self to serious teacher and employee was something that he knew almost everyone admired. She knew when to be serious, when to wind down and when to teach.
He yelped a little in surprise as she sat on the same chair he was sitting on. Half of her butt was on his leg and she was intensely focused on the screen, mouse button clicking every few seconds. Felix cleared his throat, averting his eyes to anywhere else. Byeol was adored, but he really hated how touchy she could be sometimes.
He was a touchy person, sure. But the admiration he had for her had quickly turned into a full-blown crush and he didn’t know how to act sometimes. She huffed, sitting up and turning to face him. “Oh, Lix-ie,” she cooed and he bit his bottom lip. He knew it was bad, but he didn’t think it was that bad. “You’re cute. But this track? Not so much.”
His shoulders sagged in defeat. He had been working for hours on this. She kissed his cheek, standing up. “I’ll get us some drinks and then we’ll start from the beginning.” Felix hummed, staring at the screen in front of him dejectedly. “Hey,” she said softly and he looked over his shoulder at her. “It’s your first time, Lix. You’ll get it and I’ll help. Don’t worry.”
He smiled at her encouragement as she skipped out of the room towards the vending machines. She was carefully selecting drinks with the most caffeine in them. She wasn’t leaving until he had it down and the track he was playing in his head was created on to the computer for others to hear. She knew they’d be there a while because she wasn’t going to baby him. She was going to sit back and guide him through, letting him learn on his own.
“Oh! Hello!” She jumped at the hand on her shoulder, spinning around and feeling her heart rate pick up. She had been doing better, but the surprise of someone randomly appearing behind her at the moment seemed to send her straight into panic mode. Being hypervigilant had become a norm for her lately and she wasn’t happy about it but was working on it.
It was a trainee, she could tell that much. Dressed in workout gear. But she hadn’t seen or met him before—which wasn’t uncommon. However, she was confused as to why he was on this side of the building. JYP had clear boundaries for trainees and idols. Idols worked on one side of the building, trainees on the other. They could possibly see each other in passing, but no words were usually exchanged as JYP would engrain in the trainees brain that they need to be polite and just say hello and be on their way.
“U-uh, hello,” she said shakily, offering a smile. “You’re Moon! From GOT7! I can’t believe I’m actually seeing you here. It’s so nice to meet you.” She raised her eyebrow a little at the broken Korean. He must be a foreign trainee, still learning the language. She nodded, understanding the gist of it. He seemed to get excited, grabbing her hand. Yeah, he was definitely foreign.
She didn’t want to be rude, but she was starting to get a little shaky at the strange male touching her. She tried to shimmy her hand out as he spoke in really fast, really bad Korean. Then a body was in front of hers and her hand was free. She looked up to see the back of the blonde mullet. Felix. She gripped the back of his shirt.
“Aren’t you supposed to be practicing right now? How’re are you going to debut if you spend your time wandering around the hallways?” He said in English. She peeked around to see the trainee bowing his head in shame. “I’m s-sorry. I got lost and just got really excited. I’ll do better.” Felix hummed, patting the males shoulder.
“Next time, just don’t touch others, okay? Get back to practice before someone catches you.” The male nodded, apologizing again before running off. Felix turned around, gently prying Byeol’s hold on his shirt. “Noona, you okay?” He asked quietly, still holding her wrists. She blinked, nodding and staring at the hands wrapped around her wrists.
Felix coughed awkwardly, quickly letting go and grabbing the drinks that had fallen from the vending machine. “We should—uhm—get back to the studio. I have a lot to learn.” He mumbled and she felt her cheeks heat a little before nodding. “R-right.” She followed him silently, still trying to calm down her racing heart and trembling hands.
“Are you sure you’re okay? We can do this another day.” Felix said, staring at her shaking hands. She clenched them into fists, hiding them behind her back. “Nice try, Yongbok. But you’re not getting out of my mentoring today.” She said, cracking open one of the coffee drinks and chugging half of it. Felix gulped, knowing he was in for hours of scolding every time he messed up.
“Before I turn into a drill sergeant,” she said quietly, Felix’s eyes trained on her. “Thank you. For helping me. And not being too scary to the poor soul.” She smiled weakly and Felix returned it with one of his own. “We’re one giant family, noona. We gotta protect our own. And plus, I know it’s probably not the—easiest—right now. So, I’m happy to help. Plus, JB hyungnim might have my head if I let anything happen to you.”
Byeol chuckled at that, shaking her head. She clasped her hands together, grateful they had stopped trembling before turning back into mentor Moon. “Get ready, Lee Yongbok. We have a lot of work to do.” Felix groaned, grabbing one of the drinks. Byeol snatched it from his hand. “Nope! Not until you have at least the intro to this done and how you want it.” She shook the drink in her hand, “this is your reward.”
Felix groaned again, turning around to get to work. “Maybe I should have just asked Chan-hyung.”
