He Gets Jealous ~ Nam Yoonsu
You smiled confidently across to Yoonsu as you felt his hand slip in with yours as you approached the entrance to the theatre that would be hosting the ceremony. The crowds were huge, with famous faces everywhere, all politely greeting one another as people tried to find their seats.
As you moved through the crowds, Yoonsu didn’t leave your side, noticing the table that was set up for The King’s Affection towards the front of the hall, leading you across to it so that the two of you could sit down out of the way.
“Where’s your name?” Yoonsu mumbled to himself as he looked around at the name cards, noticing ones written out for all of the actors in the drama, without you there.
Your head shook back at him as Yoonsu looked to you in confusion, recognising a few familiar faces across the hall. You smiled widely as your eyes met your co-star, with his hand tapping the top of one of the seats, encouraging you to head over.
“I worked on my own drama too this year, they were never going to sit us together,” you reminded Yoonsu, feeling guilty as his expression dropped, “I’ll be just over there if you need me.”
“That’s too far away Y/N, it’s not fair.”
Your shoulders could only shrug back at Yoonsu as you slipped your hand out of his, not being left with much of a choice. You both knew how these things worked, you knew from the start that the two of you wouldn’t be sat together, but Yoonsu had held onto a little bit of hope, wishing that maybe things would change this year, only to be left disappointed.
“You’ve got someone watching you,” your co-star joked as you took your seat at the table.
You didn’t want to ignore Yoonsu, knowing that he was worried about you, but you didn’t want to cause a scene too. After you sat down, you looked across to him, offering him a smile before turning your attention back to your colleagues at your table.
Your smile of reassurance didn’t stop Yoonsu from worrying though, glancing at you every so often. Each time he noticed a new idol or actor heading across to you to say hello, he felt his frame stiffen more and more, wishing that he could be there to hear what was said and keep you safe.
“Y/N can handle herself,” Seokwoo whispered into his ear as he caught Jinyoung greeting you with a smile, resting his hand against Yoonsu’s shoulder. “Do you really want her to see you like this?”
A sigh came from Yoonsu as he watched Jinyoung walk away from you, relieved to see you by yourself again. It was a protective act that he knew he couldn’t keep up for the whole of the ceremony, but that didn’t stop Yoonsu from worrying.
“I should be beside her,” Yoonsu whispered across to Seokwoo as everyone began to take their seats, “does it seem right to you that they’re separating couples at these things?”
The rules were rules, with Seokwoo not too sure how to respond to Yoonsu’s question. Luckily for him, the cameras began to roll, encouraging everyone to fall silent, with Yoonsu turning away from Seokwoo before he had the chance to respond.
You tried to keep your concentration on the stage and with the hosts throughout the first half of the ceremony, feeling eyes staring at you from your left. Even around your colleagues, Yoonsu was wary, knowing just how well you got along with them all.
As soon as the interval was called, you looked up to see Yoonsu walking across the front of the hall, straight for one of the doors outside. Once he was past, you looked across to Seokwoo who looked equally as confused as you did.
“What’s wrong with him?”
“I don’t know,” Seokwoo mouthed back to you, “I think he’s jealous.”
“Of me?” You tried your best to call out to him over the noise, pointing to yourself.
Seokwoo’s head nodded slowly back at you, not wanting to cause any trouble between the two of you. Before he could stop you though, you were on your feet and heading straight out of the door that you’d just watched Yoonsu walk through.
“Hey,” you whispered, finding Yoonsu pacing around just outside of the hall, scuffing his dress shoes against the cobbled ground. “What’s going on?” You then asked as Yoonsu remained unresponsive, wanting to seem unbothered.
You knew him better than that though, the colour in his eyes had gone, letting you know exactly what was up with him, frustrated with how things were going.
“You’re getting annoyed, aren’t you?” You questioned, walking around so that you were stood face to face with Yoonsu. “I wish that I was sat with you too, but it’s always been the way that drama casts sit together Yoonsu.”
Sitting away from you wasn’t necessarily the problem for Yoonsu, he trusted you, it was others that he didn’t. Being jealous in front of you was something that he never imagined himself being, yet here he was, just that.
“How long do you plan on remaining quiet?” You sighed.
“I don’t want to talk about what’s going on.”
“Because you’re embarrassed?” You challenged, picking up on all the signs, “you don’t want me to think that you’re upset that so many people have come up to me?”
At times Yoonsu hated just how well you knew him, feeling both of your hands rest over his that were clasped together in front of him. Before he knew it, his head was slowly nodding back at you, unable to keep up his quiet act forever.
It wasn’t the first time that Yoonsu had felt threatened by other actors and idols around you, the industry was hard work, with plenty of close relationships too. Although to most these relationships were harmless, it never stopped rumours from circling.
“There is no one in that hall tonight who I adore more than you,” you reassured Yoonsu, squeezing his hands to encourage his eyes to look across at you, “sure, they’re some great actors, but I don’t even know most of them as people.”
“I can assure you that they’re some nice people.”
“But I bet they’re not as nice as you.”
A weak smile formed on Yoonsu’s face as you continued to compliment him, “you probably think that I’ve acted like a bit of an idiot watching you like that.”
“I think you’re human,” you clarified with a chuckle, “I get jealous too, sometimes I wish that actresses and idols would leave you alone too,” you noted, taking Yoonsu by surprise with your sudden admission.
“You always seem so comfortable in our relationship,” he remarked, “you really get jealous about some of my situations too?”
Just like Yoonsu, you were human, and with that came jealousy. There were certain faces that you knew, ones that liked to push the boundaries, who always made you feel a little unsettled when they were around Yoonsu.
“I promise for the rest of the ceremony I won’t act like such a fool,” Yoonsu softly chuckled across to you, “but as soon as that ceremony is done, I want you to come back over to me, you’ll have much more fun with me.”
“I was thinking that you could come to me?”
“Really?” Yoonsu fumbled, glancing across at you in confusion.
“Our crew is throwing an after party, and I’d quite like to have you there so I can show off my boyfriend, if you fancy it?”
“I do, I’d love for everyone to know you’re spoken for.”
